Revision TKR Revision again

Best of luck. What a great gift it will be for you to have a TKR that is correct for Christmas. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I think a list of questions is a great idea.

They do use guides & instruments, how yours got so screwed up is hard to believe. If you have too much bone that could be a good thing, but revision specialist know how to compensate & shim for proper fit.

When I fractured my tibial plateau my orthopedist said I am not the best Doc for this severity. He had a reconstruction specialist handle it. So you are in good hands, just the fact that your Doc steered you to a better surgeon speaks volumes about him.

Glad to hear you have an earlier date, your recovery will be pretty much like a normal TKR.
Happy you found someone with experience who recognized what was going on with your knee.

@Bikesouth i just wanted to clarify with you that the surgeon that did original tkr didn’t refer me to anyone. He actually didn’t care unfortunately. I’m Florida I saw a revision specialist and he referred me out of state. My previous surgeon in Boston from when I lived here previously found the revision specialist that I’m seeing now. Not sure how it all happened with original surgeon but I am glad it’s getting fixed.

Surgery is in 6 days! I didn’t have a normal recovery because I was in hospital so long with infection. Hope it goes well. I will update you guys Friday night

I have followed your ordeal & understood the sequence of events. Cannot wait to get your updates late next week.
Excited for you, of course it will be difficult for a few weeks but you can sail through it. Just keep the long range outlook in mind.

Thinking of you today and praying for a much different outcome for you. You're in good hands. Let us know how you're doing when you can.

I'm praying for you and your OS! Please let us know how you are as soon as you can!

Wishing you all the best! I hope the revision went well and you have a chance at a normal life again.
It will a long road but you have already shown you are made of good stuff! You've got this!

My sister Jennifer Boccelli has asked me to update everyone on her status, as well as a couple pictures from the doctor.
(Pictures below: SUCCESSFUL RANGE OF MOTION AFTER SURGERY! )

The surgery went very well, and the doctor is very optimistic that she will leave the hospital full weight bearing and WALKING. Her blood pressure is a little low so they have put her on some blood pressure medication and they will continue to monitor her in the ICU. He’s told us that the doctor in Florida (who did the original knee replacement) didn’t cut enough bone in order for the implant to fit correctly. Also, when he claimed he scoped her to remove scared tissue he only removed a very small amount, still leaving a massive amount of scared tissue surrounding her knee. He lied to my sister and told her he removed it all.
My family is very grateful for Dr. Berlinger, after a long 9 months my sister will finally be able to have a range of motion and will be walking around during the Christmas holidays.
We are just waiting for her blood pressure to be regulated so she can be moved into her room and begin physical therapy. The greatest Christmas gift of all. For tonight, she’ll be resting. She can’t take any pain medications until her blood pressure is regulated. She will reach out to you personally once she is feeling better. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes!

Thank you very much for letting us know!

I'm so glad everything went well. It all sounds like good news.

Please give Jennifer our very best wishes from us here on BoneSmart. We'll be here for her when she feels well enough to post for herself.

Here is her post-op reading:
Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now; they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
rest
elevate
ice
take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)
don't overwork.
3. Do what you want to do BUT
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.
4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these
5. Here is a week-by-week guide for Activity progression for TKRs
