JOE, as they say in the States, at least for me the staple removal was a "piece of cake". Or maybe it was that cute young physicians assistant that did the job. Seriously, it felt much better to have them gone.

On page 1 I told how I saw warrior statues in Venice many years ago. When I mentioned them again last week, some weird alchemy of internet and The Dark Side woke the blighters up and they followed me home. They currently live in my garage, and act as very efficient security for our home when SWMBO and I are out clubbing. We get on very well and in fact She Who Must Be is teaching them English, and I'm familiarising them with the 21st Century. Their diet is primitive,( the local pet population is taking a caning) and their favourite drink appears to be fermented mare's milk. I planned to socialise them My way, but an invitation to a party arrived 2 days ago and I let them go. They arrived home in the small hours slightly the worse for wear, muttering darkly about swimming pools, women and pina colada. I was upset but I recalled my own youth and my father's forbearance and let it pass. Then yesterday another invitation addressed to "The Muscular Warriors" arrived and I foolishly allowed them to go again . I may have let myself be slightly intimidated by the appearance of seven naked, bearded fighting-men clamoring to be let go to a dance, but I did tell them to be home by ten. I believe that gory details of this party can be seen on a certain thread but I cannot take the responsibility of telling you where it is...
anyway, six of them arrived back at dawn ( one is still missing), their loincloths in disarray , soaking wet, as mutinous as hell and using words that they didn't learn frrom SWMBO. Words like Mai Tai , pina colada, brandy and ginger
ale, Guinness, and a drink (presumably) that I never heard of called booflveemin. Today they're adopting a very truculent and aggressive attitude, whistling " Cigareets an'wusky an'wild wild wimmen" whenever I pass. I'd swear they were experimenting on other mood-altering substances as well, because they spoke of a leatherclad man with three arms hanging around the pool. What should I do ? Anybody?

Gee, Wow! I just don't know what to say! I can't imagine where they got that bit about Wild, Wild Wimmen. I'm shocked !:shocked:Maybe RestAssured can help you out. You certainly seem to have gone wrong somewhere. Please don't worry about the missing one. My husband said I can't keep him as I was the one to make the rule of no more pets. He's on his way to you as we speak.:)
Now, how are you doing today. I hope you're getting around without too much trouble and It will feel good to get those staples out.

All I can say is good luck with that. I had mine out today (23) Maybe it is like childbirth and you forget about the pain. Some Rum might have made it a bit easier.

Hmmm, wild, wild women huh?! Well as I hear tell it yer warriors got lost on the way to our party and ended up as Chippendale dancer's! They seemed to like it I heard tell. When wemmen wuld put mony en there'd leathar thongs! So we cannot be held responsible for them! :)

My way! Hang onto him for a few days if you want, just watch out for the domestic livestock. Me, I'm getting around fine. I'm bored with the inactivity and the restless legs at nigh, the nights are too long and I'd love to mow the lawns and SWMBO won't let me. Fact is I envy the lads!! Sheesh..

Rest Assured, why on Earth would women put money in their leather thongs? These chaps don't understand high finance!

Now, fellow BoneSmarties of all sorts, pre-op and post-op. I've got a problem, a big problem. Basically, I have somehow got lumbered with seven muscular warriors from millenia ago, living in my garage (don't ask), and needing socialising into the present time. The pills the medics have me on, while doing an excellent job on my pain levels, also play havoc with my imagination, memory and energy levels. There is a real danger that I may have to arrange a nasty accident for "The Lads" so that I can get some rest... and I'd hate that because we (SWMBO and I) have become quite fond of them, even though they are currently feeding on the wall insulation here. What I need are IDEAS, involving one or two or more of the Lads per episode, about 8 episodes worth, so that I can fit them to be released into modern society without being a danger to women and pets. Ideas that I could knit into a tale to hopefully relieve TKR Recoverers' boredom levels, and get me off the hook. Hows about it ? You might take a look at my post-op thread previous pages to get some background info. God, how I wish I hadn't gone to Venice all those years ago ! Wipes tear from eye using corner of moist sleeve... :sorry:

Well, you could weave the modernization of money and the lure of being Chippendale dancers into your tale! Teach em' quick like! :rotfl:

'snot such a bad idea, our RestAssured! Get some of your partners in crime on the quest, would you?

Give me some time. I'm up to my eyeballs right now.:gaah:

Day 12 post-op report...everything continues well, strength returning, all systems go, except that today I foolishly tried to step up on a stool with the operated leg and the quads let me know 12-star that was a no-no. Pure forgetfulness. I don't know how long this setback will last, not long I hope. Plan each step, people! Joe
