Something to look forward to - me dancing, you being "on the other side" !

So, at 10 + weeks now ... and generally feeling really optimistic. Walked a huge discount mall today for about 3 hours , with a 10 minute break. Hubby figures I walked several miles. Last time we were there, about 6 months ago, I could barely walk 10 minutes without sitting for a while. I still get some pain when I overdo it :rolleyespink: but I know then to cut back a bit --and those tight bands are making less and less appearances. It is so true that you need to look at this journey in terms of a roller coaster , but there is no doubt that for the great majority of us, and I'm one of the lucky ones, it seems, it is amazing !

So , for those who are struggling in the early days ---keep the faith --and keep doing what works best for YOU...and know that it is all worth it !:yahoo:

Hi Randi, great to hear you're doing so well. Yes those bands just hang around.

Hi Margaret and Bassplayer - how are you both doing ? Do you realize we are all within a week of each other ?:friends:

Hi Randi

That is a great report to read and well done to you. I am looking forward to getting back to do some serious shopping with my new knee :th_heehee:
Keep up the good work Randi :thumb:

Hi, Jo - I keep joking that with starting my recovery walking in malls and now here in Florida, this has been an expensive surgery -but honestly I'm so high on walking without pain that I don't stop much to buy anything and window shopping is mostly all I need ! Enjoy your outings !:th_heehee:

QUOTE: My surgeon sees folks at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 3 months - guess he's particularly brave !

Or maybe he's just a glutton for punishment! :hysterical: Judy

Hi again . Been doing lots of walking and it feels amazing ! No pain at all and I've walked up to 45 minutes at a time :yes 4:So now I'm trying to work out the few kinks still left...

I'm trying to gently increase the tension and /or time on the stationery bike but find that I often end up with pain behind my knee. It doesn't last long and in fact disappears when I walk a bit but I'm wondering if there is a specific exercise to stretch out that area.

Also - still achey when I get up from sitting. Anything specific to work on that ?

Thanks for your help !

You might just have to stretch your hamstring a little bit---or, it could be that your seat may abe a little bit too low and your leg is cramping up some. If you are on your bike, your leg should be slightly bent when it is at the bottom of the revolution.

It sounds like you are doing great and enjoying your new life---which is exactly why you had the TKR! Keep in mind that THINGS WILL ONLY GET BETTER, TOO!

I am happy to read your posts and see that your life has been reclaimed.

Hi Randi! I'm doing ok but slowed down by the unoperated knee. I need to use a cane outside the house because of it, and need to rest frequently. Trying these days to schedule a second TKR.

Hi Randi
You are doing great - 45 min walk sounds brilliant progress and with no pain! I get a pain from my hamstring area when I'm on the bike - I think it's just tightness with me. Sitting in the same spot for a while makes the knee a bit stiff - I'm sure that will disappear after time. Keep up the good work!

Difficult to get a seat with extra legroom on low cost airline. Also would not be allowed in emergency exit seat as you will be classed as not able bodied enough

Hi - Sorry the other guy is giving you so much trouble--hope you get that one done soon so you can move on. Take care.

Anybody else having problems with the forum ? I couldn't connect yesterday at all and when I go to my User Control Panel I keep getting the same messages over and over....

Hi Randi, we've all had trouble with the forum---its crashed 3 times in the last four days. They are working on it---but don't have the total fix in yet. Could go down again. Note your post time is 7 hours early. Judy

Randi....can you please tell me what messages you are getting over and over?

Same for me today (Monday morning UK time 07.30) the user control panel usually remembers which subscribed threads one has viewed and removes them from the list. It's lost track of this and is showing threads I've seen before.

No doubt (parts of) the database had to be restored from backup?

Jamie - Like Roy I was getting the same messages I had already viewed in the user control panel but today (Monday - 9;30 am US East) that seems to be fixed. I know the frustrations of technology and appreciate that you all are working out the bugs. Thanks.

Thanks....Roy's explanation is right then. The problem should go away now that the system has been restored and appears to be stable. Sorry for the inconvenience!!!
