Hi hiphiphray
I a doing ok off my crutches after about 4 months which is what my surgeon wanted me to to heal very slowly after the revision surgery , I am still getting quite a bit of pain which is more of an ache which I expect is normal as all my muscles etc have been cut twice in less than 2 years and I was told recovery would be a lot longer than the primary surgery.
Before my operations I was anaemic caused by the Naproxin I was taking and even though I have been on iron tablets for a while I am still very tired all of the time and also I am not sleeping very well but I am optimistic that everything will settle down over the rest of the year and I might feel normal again, thank you for asking.
Ian

I hope all continues to improve for you @Ian C
You've been through a lot.
Hopefully your energy gradually increases as your aches and pain decrease.

Hi Guys
Hope everyone is doing ok and getting the treatment they deserve.
I am now 6 months post op from my revision surgery and everything going well been off crutches and pain killers for about 8 weeks and now just need to build my muscles back up.
I can’t say I am pain free as I am still getting an ache in my muscle which I hope is just the muscle needing to get stronger and not because of the piece of bone or cement which has been left in the middle of my muscle.

I am now 8 months post op after revision surgery on my right hip , since the op I have had muscle pain which has never improved in fact is getting worse, i am seeing my surgeon in a couple of weeks but I think I might have nerve damage but one thing I have noticed as I can feel a cyst like lump at the top of my scar which is very painful and gets very hot has anyone experienced anything similar.
Also I have a piece of bone or cement embedded in my muscle from the op.

Let's tag @Josephine (I just did) and see what she has to say about the X-ray you previously posted and she might have thoughts about the cyst.
Hate that you are still struggling, @Ian C :console2:

@Josephine you were spot on. I have Trochanteric bursitis and tendinopathy but unfortunately they can only offer me physio in about 4 months and they don't want to give me a cortisone injection and risk infection. Looks like I’ll just have to keep on icing and hope it settles down soon.

In the mean time I'll look for a private physio who specialises in hips.

And who would 'they' be, Ian? If it's your surgeon, ask your GP. If it's your GP, don't you have a group so you can go to another GP? There's no risk of infection because the trochanteric bursa is nowhere near the hip! I've had cortisone injections twice for my bursitis and 4 times in my shoulders. All since I had my knees done!

Its my surgical team who advised me they would not do a cortisone injection because of the risk of infection ,I think they will do it as a last resort but they avoid it if possible, I have found a private physiotherapist who has experience in hip replacement problems so hopefully see him next week rather that wait 4 months for a Nhs physio

I'm sorry to read this. Have you sought a second opinion from a surgeon totally unrelated to the OS who performed your THR?
That would be my best advice without reading through your entire thread to see what steps you've taken to get to the origin of your issue.

Forum Nurse Josephine is unavailable at this time recovering from her own revision surgery, or I'd involve her. So sorry.

Do you care to leave a brief description of what you've done up until this point in an effort to resolve the issue? It may be helpful to those stopping by to offer an opinion.

Wishing you comfort and relief.
@Ian C
