I don't know @Poppet Spot on as usual!!! You're really an OX in disguise aren't you :) And yes - lets put a call out for him!

On a more positive note our eldest daughter and her boyfriend who live interstate (Canberra if anyone knows of it) are going to South East Asia for a vacation and have asked my DW and I to house sit and babysit their two dogs. So next Friday we are off on a big plane for a trip to our nations capital!! So looking forward to seeing our daughter again and meeting some really special people in the flesh while we are away :):)
 
Enjoy every sec of every minute my friend. You so deserve it. I always pray for an early surgery date for you.. :) You have so many kind words for so many on here. ....Sue :)
 
Here's hoping a little change of scenery will be good for letting go of some of the frustrations and maybe a little bit of the pain, even if just for a short time. It's so nice if we are able to focus on something else, anything else, once in a great while. Hope you have a wonderful trip and like the others, hope you get some news when you return.

Just a quick update on my Doctor visit today. My Doctor said basically my left hip has collapsed. Not a lot that can be done apart from what I am doing which is minimal weight bearing. The letter from the radiologist said the right one was normal which my GP said was rubbish which goes to what Jo said as well.

She took the patch off and the rash was as bad as last week so she has given me Targin 10 mg with a 5 mg thingy added to it (in the same tablet) which eases constipation (thank goodness for that I say!!!)

I have another appointment next week to see if the Targin is handling the pain well enough.

I came over from the other side to see how things are going over here. I like your new picture. Sorry to see that you are waiting. But, your attitude and great disposition are an inspiration. Really, they are! Hope you are feeling well today and have a nice trip! :)
 
So sorry your hip has given out @fulafoto . I had the same experience and would not wish that pain on anyone. I never did find any medication that could touch that pain. As you are doing - keep the weight off that hip if you can. Avoid lifting anything too heavy or pushing around things like furniture. Fingers crossed you get a date soon!

And thanks @Jaycey and your right - not a lot can touch that pain. I am not doing a lot at all and I think it will be the way until I hit the table. Funny you should mention furniture - my daughter and SIL are moving house this weekend and I was asked jokingly if I could give a hand - I said I can hold the door for you!!:heehee::heehee:
 
Oh goodness, so sorry to hear that your hip has collapsed! :sad: Surely that will hurry things along to get a surgery date? I certainly hope they manage to come up with something to ease your pain until then. And I do hope that you will enjoy your visit, in spite of all. Perhaps the change of scenery can help to take your mind off other things...?
 
So sorry to hear how much pain you are in.. I was thinking mine was collapsing right before surgery.. The pain is horrible.. I am praying you get your date soon and join us happy campers on the other side :)

@fulafoto sorry to hear your joint has collapsed. That sounds incredibly painful. I'm in awe of your positive attitude in the face of adversity. I'm hoping this new development might spur an earlier surgery date for you.
 
Thanks so much @chaosong @psychteach and @Stripey for stopping by and your wonderful words of encouragement. I am trying to be as philosophical as possible about the whole journey at this time and using a lot of humour to try and keep myself sane - for instance I may grimace and my ever caring wife will ask what's wrong to which I will answer - I think there is something wrong with my hip! A small thing but we both get a laugh out of it (after she hits me) and it does help. As far as an earlier surgery I am hoping for early July as we don't get back from our trip until July 1 I will be on the phone to them on July 2 asking 'are we there yet?'

I was in a lot of pain last night in both hips and now it has eased but I have been up since 2am (now 4:30am) due to severe stiffness in both hips and would you believe - shoulder pain - I am like WHAT?????? They aren't suppose to hurt too! There not on any list for aches or pains!

Anyhow enough of my waffling - thanks again for your kind comments - I really do appreciate each and every one of them! x

@fulafoto Oh Bill I got such a chuckle out of your response "I think there's something wrong with my hip" to DW's question & although your pain is nothing to laugh at, your sense of humor remains intact and will carry you far. Wishing you well:) Joyce

Thanks Chrissie @Hoppy Nanny and Joyce @teakea66 for your support. The pain today has been quite manageable after a really good sleep in.
We have a couple of things organised Chrissie and waiting to hear from another friend but we will be sure to have a few rest days during our time away.
Yes I find a sense of humour is vital Joyce and luckily I share a sense of the ridiculous with my DW.
 
Hi @fulafoto!! Congrats on having your image displayed in a gallery showing!! It looks stunning!!! I'm a portrait photographer and have my own business (which is on hold at the moment during my recovery). But l love nature and landscape photography as well :). My husband and I often spent our time together out shooting landscapes and nature. he shoots with me whenever he isn't busy doing his daytime job. I had stopped shooting before the surgery because of the lack of ROM and not being able to walk around with the equipment while I was using a cane. That's one of the things I am really looking forward to being able to get back to as I'm sure you are as well :). When is your surgery?

hang in thereBill @fulafoto. The good news is that when you do get your surgery you will wake up a new man....the pain will be so different.

Until then, enjoy the change of scenery....but rug up!!! There's lots to do in Canberra but rest too
