Glad you're mobile now. Being cooped up too long isn't a pleasant experience. You're right we do "get it". Don't let her not getting it get you down. :).
Joe.

@fulafoto really glad you are getting some relief...I can not imagine having to wait for a date as you are. I must say that you so supportive and send out so much positive energy to all of us who are coming and going on the THR journey, it is no wonder you are tired!
Also sorry your boss was so boorish on her visit...not to defend her, but many people have no idea how to interact with someone who is ailing or in pain...they may mean well, but it would be better if they either blazed through and a quick visit or stayed away altogether.

Bill....just sending you hugs..(((((((BILL))))))...all the way from Boston. Hang in there my friend :)

Oh bill....@Fulafoto. I know how much that would have hurt you. I'm so sorry for you and DW. IM EVEN 1 finger typing through my pain for you :snork:

I know that you have been disappointed by work and for her to even drop in would have at first seemed nice only to turn into 'why did you bother?' I bet at work you were the go to guy. The one who listened and helped everyone to be bitterly disappointed when your turn came. It sounds like my now dubbed 'toxic' friend, who visited and by the time she left, I was shattered and in tears. Them, them, them, taking, taking, taking and not realising too that we need something in return....not as much as they take but just something.

No one can know what your going through waiting for your date and watching everyone's date come and your still there....in pain, getting worse day by day. All we can say is that you have supported us all and you deserve better than what your boss gave you.

We will be there for you Bill through the good 'walls' and the bad

Vent away....we will listen. Hang in there.....

hi bill @fulafoto . I realize that I never come to this side of the forum anymore. and you're still here, altho I notice you follow people on the "other" side. sure hope you get there very very soon. and yes, there sure are a lot of jerks in the world. but luckily, this isn't a family member. In my work life (which is blessedly over) when there was a person who really hurt me or made my life difficult, I was amazed that when either I, or they, left, that whole drama ceased. it was totally situational. good luck and hope to see you 'on the other side'.

Hi Bill, I have to chime in also and let you know what a great guy I think you are to have sit through all of your boss' chatter while gritting your teeth in pain. I think we can all relate to people like that in our lives. It is bad enough to deal with those type people when we are feeling ok, but almost impossible when we are in horrific pain. Hopefully you can get a surgery date soon and won't have to sit in such pain much longer.

Thanks for all your replies everyone and I do get a great deal of comfort from knowing that you are all here for me and my DW. You guys really are a wonderful support and I really don't know how I would have got through this without your terrific support and help.
@JoeL - thanks mate and that is what this family is all about - you all get it and I'll be right :thumb:
@Dieter thanks also for your kind words and thanks for reminding me that some people just don't know how to act - I guess we all have our different ways of dealing with these things. I find it therapeutic to try and be positive and upbeat for others and I hope that it helps them in their build up to surgery and recovery
Thank you so much also @Sue629 for your comforting hugs :):). they mean a lot ..
Oh Sally @Vetgirl how did I know you would post on here - even so soon after your own surgery and I know you would have typed with your nose if you had to :rotfl::rotfl: and I know you have been there as I was yesterday and I look forward to the next update of walls :snork::snork::snork:
@dickinson yes I try and get around everywhere on the forum, having seen quite a few of my friends go from this side to the other side :) You're very right about it being situational and I am feeling the drama will ease with distance.
@wannabebrave - thank you so much as well - actually my DW said to me that she thought I was going to sleep at one stage during the monologue and I had to admit she was right:heehee:

@fulafoto I am sorry to hear about your bosses visit. You had every right to feel the way you did. Some people can be so insensitive. Listen to everyone here, you are a terrific guy and my hats off to you for making the most of this difficult situation. I keep checking your thread for your surgery date. I do pray that it comes soon for you.

@Serenity41 Thank you for your message and for your kind words. I really do appreciate them!
Today I think the good fairies smiled on me; another work colleague from a totally different area of the prison I work in was passing and gave me a ring asking if it was alright for her to drop in - I said yes thinking "oh no - here we go again"!!!Well wouldn't you know - it was a really pleasant visit - she asked some questions, showed concern and interest and called me slack for not being at work in a very good natured way and we had a few laughs. Guess that goes to show that for every unpleasant happening there is a pleasant one just around the corner.

Hi Bill, @fulafoto - there is always one bad apple in the barrel... Just wait until the first co-worker needs a joint replacement!

So pleased you had a more pleasant visit from a caring colleague today - hey, it was so good to speak to you again in person... and how is our Sally, @Vetgirl.. We just can't keep her down, such an angel you are Sally xxxx Thanks to both you and Bill for your txts it is so great to have our Aussie circle..

Hugs to you and your DW Bill xxxx

I don't know how you do it, Bill @fulafoto ! I don't think I'd cope at all well with the sort of extended, open-ended, uncertain wait that you've had to put up with - in your position, I suspect I'd've lost it in the surgeon's office by now, and either killed someone or had weeping hysterics! - but you keep on keeping on, not just coping, but staying fantastically positive, and supporting others despite your own struggles. I'm full of admiration... Tho I would just remind you gently that sometimes it's ok - even wise - to be a bit selfish and keep more of your energy for yourself! :)

I'm glad your second colleague visit was more positive. You did well to put up with your boss, who sounds very draining. My colleagues said they'd like to visit - my manager made a point of saying it twice before I left - but so far I've avoided inviting them! I like my manager and most of my colleagues - they're nice people - but still I know a visit from them would be hard work, because they're not friends, and I'd feel I had to 'put on a front' for them...

Do take care of yourself, Bill. I'm glad you're getting out a bit. Remember your energy is limited, and make sure you spend some of it on YOU! :)

@Poppet - you gave me a laugh with that statement about a workmate needing a joint replacement - I guess then I would become the most important person in the world to them :heehee::heehee: And yes it was a very pleasant visit - she sent me a text this morning and will be coming back through on Monday and said she might stop in again which will be lovely! It is great to have this Aussie circle going for sure xxx

And as far as Sally @Vetgirl goes - it just shows the type of person you really are Sally - commenting on my thread while your still very very tired and thankyou for your kind words again! xxx

And @FionaW you are too kind! xxx I find that the waiting is not that bad if I don't ponder on it. My DW helps so much and we both share a sense of the ridiculous and can get a laugh out of most situations. When asked when I am expecting surgery my answer is generally sometime this year and while that could be mistaken for being flippant and that I don't really care when it will happen it is just my way of dealing with it.
As far as the wonderful community here - I think of you all as my outlet and daily adventure, I share just about everything on here with my DW such as your walk to the park and the nice cuppa you had, Dieter and his 12 year old bottle of whiskey, Joe going out for dinner and driving, Mike from NZ going in on 30 June for his THR and the terrific crew from the day I was originally scheduled for surgery all doing great including my dear friend Sue. It's like your an extended family now and I (we) sympathise when things don't go right and you strike hiccups in your recoveries as well as celebrating your successes.
From time to time you will find I will be MIA for a couple of days and that is just me taking a break so I am 'getting away' every now and again - thanks for caring x.
You're so right about them not being friends just work colleagues - something that this journey has bought home to me very much and although it was a hard lesson to learn I am glad I learned it.
Today my DW and I are going for a roll (me not my DW - she will be walking) it is a beautiful Saturday morning here and cant wait to get out and about!
Take care and enjoy your weekend everyone - long weekend here in Australia so lots going on!!!
xxxx

@fulafoto.......Right back atcha my friend.....Enjoy your stroll and time spent with that special wifie you have :)...You are simply the best...always sharing and giving words of wisdom and caring to all on here. Please know how special you are and I for one am glad to call you my friend :friends::flwrysmile:

Thanks @Serenity41 and yes it was most enjoyable. We seem to have a never ending line of visitors at the moment and had my best friend around today to check on how everything is going! A nice chat and cuppa!
Rolled up the street again today and have rather sore shoulders however my DW is totally worn out tonight from the pushing she has to do up the hills (I'm no lightweight - that's for sure!). She then agreed to take me grocery shopping (in a moment of madness she now says!) and tonight we are going to settle down to watching some videos although I doubt she will last long before nodding off.

@fulafoto, You express my sentiments concerning the BS family EXACTLY! Reading about the experiences of my "brothers and sisters" here is sometimes sad, occasionally concerning, frequently encouraging, and ALWAYS educational !

Thank you for putting so many of my similar thoughts into your words!❤️

Hi Bill @fulafoto - just dropping in to say hello and see how you're doing. Looks like you've been pretty busy with company (good & not so good) and getting around with your DW. She surely is a blessing. Don't know what I would have done without my DH for my knee and hip surgeries. Way back when we were first married, in 1968, we'd joke about what we'd be like when we grew old-lol. Now I'm not admitting to being old :) but here we are and I don't know what I'd have done without his help. I'm hoping you'll be getting your date soon. Joyce
