TKR Pain 2 years after TKR

Enjoy the peace and quiet. But don’t you already miss them? That is what happens to me after a visit with my grand babies!

Oh yes. Having our 2 year old grandson to stay for 4 days while his mum was having his baby brother was such hard work but we missed him so much when he went home.

Just what you need: peace, quiet, and time to yourself. Recovery can be rather enjoyable when we give ourselves permission to simply rest. :ice:

Oh yes I missed them the minute the car drove away. I know it's nice and quiet but it was nice having them. Longest I have spent with the baby.

Beds stripped and remade and hoovering all done. Furniture back in place :dancy:. Now sitting icing and relaxing.
You didn't do this, did you? I hope not! Now, just lay back and relax and baby that knee!

Rain? What's that?
I am really glad your daughter left your house nice and clean. Her mother must have brought her up well. I know you'll miss them, and their leaving is bittersweet. I missed my son when he left, but I really needed my house and the peace and quiet back. Now you can concentrate on you again. :ice::ice::ice::elevate::elevate::elevate:

Sistersinhim no I didn't. Daughter did it all before she left. Am quite tired now so looking forward to relaxing. Neighbour popped in. She thinks knee is very swollen.
Its still raining - well on and off. Hoping it's better tomorrow.

Rain? What's that?
Of course your knee is swollen...you recently had surgery on it and even more recently have been overdoing things. :bignono: Now you can (and should) rest and :ice::ice::ice::elevate::elevate::elevate:!!!!!

Love the talk about rain and cold. 107 here today. Been like that for a week and still more to come next week. Mollymax, there was a time after OT a few weeks ago when I was dumb and let him push it that I had to go back to the couch with elevation and ice fir3 days to get over it. This was after I had been quite mobile and close to pain free. So it can happen anytime you over do it and recovery from it might be more than a day. It’s frustrating for sure but that’s the roller coaster ride we are on. Try to enjoy the laziness for a few days.

In Scotland we have been lucky to have had a few weeks of sunshine. It's rained most of today and I have been cold.
Been sitting on sofa with feet up. Keep dozing off. Enjoyed the quiet this afternoon. Knee is nipping a bit but keeping up with the paracetamol with the hope I can keep any uncomfort at bay for bed time. I guess I do need to remember it's just been over 3 weeks since op and I should be taking it easier. I suppose I think because mainly been pain free I can attempt to do more than I am able to. No patience that's my problem...:bored:

Better your weather than ours. I'll take cold and wet over 100 degree plus weather every day. I love to sit by my fireplace when it's cold out, and I can still go outside if I want, but hate being stuck inside with the air conditioning going all day and night because it's too hot to be outdoors. My ideal climate is in South Lake Tahoe. It's cold and snowy in winter, but not too much snow to live with and I love snow. In summer it's mostly sunny with some occasional rain, but in the mid 70s-low 80s most of the time. I know people say San Diego has the most perfect weather year round, but I like my distinct seasons. All they have down there is sun and warmth year round, which gets really old really fast.
Are your feet just "up' or is your knee actually on ice and ELEVATED? Sitting with your knee just up on the sofa, etc, isn't really elevating. You need your "toes above your nose". Plus, you need to ice a lot every day. I don't mean to nag; I just care how you do and want to help you along. It is hard to be patient, but it's a necessary component to healing from a TKR. Go get the ice on and get that knee elevated! :):ice::ice::ice::elevate::elevate::elevate:

I love Lake Tahoe! Very fond memories of summers there visiting grandparents. I always thought I’d meet a cute boy at the beach and have that fleeting interlude. Never happened! Lol lol I was young and naive. And not very outgoing.

We can have several seasons in one day. Here in Scotland we think we have a hot day if the temp reaches 20°. Even that only lasts a day sometimes. It rains a lot in Scotland.
I guess knee is just up and elevated slightly on two cushions. Icing for about an hour at a time. Tomorrow will try elevate more.
Not sure how accurate an app this is but I downloaded Goniometer Reader on my phone which measures ROM. It only shows mine at 71. These apps aren't usually accurate but if it was isn't 71 poor at 3 weeks?

I have a goniometer I bought last time, but don't plan to use it this time, or at least not until my ROM feels and looks about right. I don't know what a "good" or "bad" ROM is at any given point, I just know what matters is your ability to function well when all the swelling goes down at a much later date than three weeks. I don't know how accurate the apps are, probably not that accurate, but I don't have any actual knowledge about them, just guessing. Don't get stuck on numbers, especially this early. Right now it's more important that you rest, ice and elevate a lot, along with those ADLs and activity progressions.

Remember to elevate toes above your nose for the best results.

Same here.

I personally don’t think those measurements are all that accurate even if your surgeon or PT measures. They just hold it against your leg, and it can be in different positions because we’re all human, and it’s not an exact science.

And yet we get so stressed out about these numbers as if it was an exact science.

And 3 weeks is way to early to think about it.

Sorry for this moan. It's 1.35am and yet another night I can't sleep. My legs are restless and I can't get comfy. I am getting so frustrated and now in tears. I just want to get a night's sleep. Going to switch phone off and will come back tomorrow hopefully in a better frame of mind.
