thanks for your post in `How have you managed to cope' thread. When I looked at the date of your op. I thought it was more appropriate to change the tense from past to present. You are still in the thick of it, but sounding positive none the less. Positive is very good, but tears have their place too. They are a release. Hope your coping techniques include being kind to yourself.

Big Smile.... :snork: Thank you so much. You just brightened my day. It was going pretty well so far. If I had one complaint today, it would be that I'm sick and tired of having to constantly stretch/bend my knees every morning when I wake up. :gaah: Not to mention throughout the day after laying, standing, or sitting too long! THAT is getting old! WHEN DOES THAT END? :hissy:

Okay, done venting. :sorry: I am thankful for the ability to stay up late :egypdance: watch Netflix and wake up when I well please. So I guess that balances it out, although sometimes I end up looking & feeling like this :mcoffee:

Aaaah, the joys of knee replacement. :loll:

Hope everyone's having a great day!... Okay, that may be a bit much considering our circumstances. Let's go with a good enough day.

I see you have a left PKR on 18 Sept. Will you do anything differently second time around? Carol

Dear Bionic Woman, oh dear.....menopause and PKR are not happy mates I would imagine, along with sons living at home. You have my sympathy. :friends:
Maybe though getting both over and done with will be best, well all 3; then you can go on a man hunt with a spring in your step.
Try to get some treats ready for the nightime Netflix.
Sue

YES! Not let my P/T push me past my limit. :hissy:
Sleeping when my body says so, and not pushing the envelope staying up late watching movies. :sorry:

Taking my meds on a regular basis to get ahead of the pain. Hopefully this will actually help me to need less medication and I can save the pills I don't use for when I return to work. Here in the US they like to get us off meds asap, so I will be filling ALL of my prescriptions this time whether I use them or not!

Early on in my recovery I was extremely nauseous and stopped using Oxycodone prematurely and switched to Hydrocodone. Hydo by itself was not that effective and I ended up switching back to Oxycodone when I ran out of hydrocodone a few days before my 6 week post op. Funny thins is, the Oxy didn't make me sick the 2nd time around. My OS then told me I was taking too much medication. Um, "I pill every 4-6 hours, like the bottle says." :umm:I pointed out to him that I didn't even refill my oxycodone prescription, but I went with what he felt was best.

At about 8 weeks out when I realized the hydro just wasn't cutting it, he prescribed Tramadol. I'm on that now, about three 50 mg pills a day. Earlier, one of my in-home p/t's said that Tramadol and Hydrocone worked well together. At the time I was just getting over being nauseous from the Oxy and anti-nausea meds that I didn't try it. Yes, the anti-nausea meds made me dizzy.

Bottom-line, I'm filling EVERY PRESCRIPTION I'm allowed! I will keep them in my arsenal for when needed! I know the pain will be much worse when I go back to work with the little kiddies. :happydance:

Btw, I'm scheduled for a partial, but if necessary he will perform a Total. That was also the plan for my right knee. Sigh... we'll see.

Will do on the treats Dabber Loving the "spring in my step" comment. :loll: It's much better than the limp I have in my step right about now. :heehee:

ditzy dinah, I just realized that I didn't tag you the other night when I was calling the Whamubulance. :boohoo:
I had a big pity party and all. :egypdance: :boohoo:

Sorry for the oversight, but I'm sure you're busy getting ready for your upcoming surgery. I'm much better now. I have about 3 weeks left until I do it again. Did I was say that out loud? :scary:

There's a movie called, "Let's Do It Again" with Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier. Totally different plot but I think I'll watch it just for fun. :heehee:

Hi Bionic Woman 2.
I have just been catching up on your thread and its ups and downs.
This knee recovery is a real roller coaster.
I am waiting for a date to have knee two done and hopefully it will be soon. I will watch out for your recovery thread as we might be recovering around the same time.
It is a daunting thought to start all over again!
Carole's advice to be kind to yourself is good advice.
Take it easy and hope your week is good,
Hugs Toothfairy x

Bionic woman2...you can come to my pharmacy anytime you want. I have a variety of meds here! :heehee: You probably don't want to come to my house right now. The kid has some crud! I guess Scorpios hoard things sometimes. I need an arsenal for when I need it too!

Do I need to drag you off the pity party wagon? I will take you kicking and screaming like a kindergartener! :rotfl: Let me know who I need to sweet talk to get you more meds. I will help you get some if you need them.

I hope you feel better tonight!

Take care

Good Morning Kiddo, going really slow today, so hung over from PITY PARTY.....LOL.You know what, I needed to go to it....Had heaps of laughs and that bottle of red with my OxiCotin was a buzz.
Today Im sitting with my trusty apple computer on my knee, we have become really good mates. Before my total TKR..I had very few skills on it, and as far as this site Bone smart, I have never joined in these threads, only because I didn't know how it all worked. Now 8 weeks on I have learnt so much. I make heaps of mistakes but I keep tapping along. Im really proud of what I have achieved on the computer, it just shows you, you can teach old dogs new tricks...LOL:kittykiss:
Sitting close to the front door today, I even managed to go on line and order an ice bag that wraps around my knee, Im excited about its arrival, I have just been using pads of ice, and I have to keep moving them and they fall off. How sad to be excited about an ice wrap arriving.
Now its time to give my knee some positive affirmations, I tell it regularly how well its going, I also tell the pain its healing pain and its doing a good job healing...lol Sounds stupid, but Im after any help I can get, to get well quicker....
I guess your all cuddled up in bed...SWEET DREAMS.

lol DS, I got off the pity party wagon yesterday afternoon. I have safely tucked away all of the decorations until next time. :heehee: Funny thing is I never stay on the wagon long, I'm too crazy and humorous to stay down. However when I DO get on, I fasten my seat belt real tight.

I think it hits hard sometimes because I'm a giver by nature. I even stopped and examined my desire as to why I do it and I came up with... I LOVE to give and surprise folks with things they like. It makes me feel good to make others happy, be it with acts of kindness or humor. I take on the burdens and interests of the people in my life, so when it's my turn and I hear crickets :umm: it hurts and it all comes down, out and running over. :boohoo:

I'm an emotional person to begin with, not just the sad emotions. :happydance: I try not to call the "Whambulance" often, but this surgery has made me even more emotional, or is it the mid-life crisis, or the menopause. Whatever the case, today is a good day and I'm taking it one day at a time these days.

I guess Scorpios hoard things sometimes.

I didn't know that came with the territory too... Oh my! That explains a few thing. :giggle: I know we're known to be passionate, but now this adds a new twist. Maybe I was hoarding all my emotions and then splat. :thud: they all came out in a passionate episode of "So You Think You Can Hide Your Emotions." Who knows, I'm not looking forward to riding on that wagon anytime soon. Let's just hope the next surgery goes emotionally smoother than this one. :beg:

Hey, when is your birthday? I'll send you some cupcakes, and you can send me some drugs. No, wait... that's illegal. No need adding jail time to our sentence. :rotfl: My birthday is Nov. 8th., but I've decided that I'm not having one this year. I'll have two next year when I'm healed. :loll:

Well, two more days till you find out about the lump. Glad your daughter is doing better and you got the meds that you needed, without having to go into the drs office and catch something else. I actually worry about that sometimes. Like, no thank you pneumonia, I just came here for a check up. :no-fin:

I am waiting for a date to have knee two done and hopefully it will be soon. I will watch out for your recovery thread as we might be recovering around the same time.

Oh, Tooth Fairy, Just re-read your post and also checked for your next surgery date. If we do go in around the same time we will be recovering buddies. :console2: Too bad you're so far away, if you were closer we could strap ourselves together and WALK, since we're getting opposite legs done. :rofsign: We'll make like one whole person. :friends:

Okay, that's enough foolishness for now.

Goodnight, afternoon, morning

Knee pain I wish I was asleep, 3am here and I've got to be up bright eyed and bushy tailed for a fasting blood test at 9am. That's and no sleep and NO cup of tea!
I use gel packs, I have a few.
Sue :)

Evening Sue, I have just had a cuppa for you. Its almost mid day here, so almost lunch time.....Lunch time, exercise time....Toilet time......exercise time. SO MUCH TO DO !! LOL:giggle:
The new leg wrap is gel. Come on Post bring my new toy.:bicycle1:

Argh don't talk tea and lunch, only 7 hours till I can indulge.... Better get some zzzzz.
Enjoy the gel pack :yay:

OHHHHH Im such a inconsiderate bag. What about my singing is that working, it works with the grandkids they love me singing them to sleep.

Good Morning Kiddo, going really slow today, so hung over from PITY PARTY.....LOL.You know what, I needed to go to it....Had heaps of laughs and that bottle of red with my OxiCotin was a buzz.

Dang! I missed a good one! :egypdance: Of course my crazy night owl self is still up and probably will be for a couple of hours or so. Maybe I'll throw another pity party, no daughter stalker won't allow it. I got it! A Kneecation! that's the ticket.:martini: Wait, I've kinda been on those for a while now. ODIC will probably be sending me a coupon in the mail to get me going again. Oh yeah, I did whip it out yesterday when I walked all over the grocery store w/ the cart and then came home and made dinner later. You should have seen me in the kitchen with my ice machine strapped to my leg. I looked like a robot because if I moved too far or too quickly, I'd knock it over.. and I can't do that! :no-fin: Noooo, I need that baby for next month!

I'm glad you are sitting by the door anxiously awaiting your ice bag. My sister had something like that and it worked wonders. I have a couple of gel packs for back up, but I don't know what I would do without my machine. So I totally understand the excitement. :happydance: The fact that you took your new techie self online and ordered it makes it all the better. I remember when I first started going online, I was leery about posting and stuff (I still am). Shoot, what am I talking about, I just got a facebook account about two years ago. lol

Now its time to give my knee some positive affirmations, I tell it regularly how well its going, I also tell the pain its healing pain and its doing a good job healing...lol Sounds stupid, but Im after any help I can get, to get well quicker....

Sounds good to me. patient 99 has something similar posted on her frig. I forget the words exactly but it's similar to yours. It goes something like: "The knee pain I feel is from recovery, they will heal at their own pace, you can believe this or die of worrying." :rotfl: I'm definitely paraphrasing. I gotta come up with a personalized one for myself. It'll probably say something like... "suck it up and relax." Okay, so it needs work. :loll: For know I'm borrowing yours and patient 99's.

Good morning, goodnight

3am here and I've got to be up bright eyed and bushy tailed for a fasting blood test at 9am.
Sorry Sue, I HATE when that happens. :gaah: It use happen when I was working and I'd look like this :mcoffee: in the morning. Now it's my fault because since I've been off and back from post-surgery drug Lala-land, I've been fighting sleep like a 2 yr old. :happydance: i would say count sheep. Maybe you can count your pills, rub a little of the residue off on your fingers and lick them. :rotfl: Maybe that will be like a sedative. Okay, me being silly is probably not helping. :sorry: I'm probably gonna pay for this tonight.

Leoni, sing a little louder I wanna dance. :egypdance:

Oh yeah, Sue I just remembered I started back taking Melatonin to help me sleep. Maybe you can get some of that tomorrow. At least it will help to catch up on some Zzzz's.
