Morning @dogwheels. Has the weather down there for yr planned walk? I really hope it's ok x it's nice here but mix of cloud and sun x x x

Love Nana moon 27 xxx

Hi @Nana moon 27 - just read your post and hope that your knee settles soon. I'm glad that ottoman has finally been moved, it sounds lethal and you seem to be strangely attracted to it.

The weather here is much better than yesterday - bright but cloudy. Hopefully we can get out later. I have done lots of walking when shopping (!) which my PT says is not ideal as it is mainly 'stop start' - I really want to have a go at continuous walking, just for a little way to see how I do. Normally we would walk down to the river - it's about a 10/15 minute walk - and then along it, but husband is going to drive down and park nearby, then hopefully we can walk into Kingston. Its a nice flat walk and there's lots of benches en route!

The weather is very changeable where my daughter is at the moment, hot but rainy. She says it looks a nice day today so they may go in the cable car up the mountain. My husband says its -6 at the top and snowing above 2500 ft! I hope that the BF has packed something warm amongst all those clothes - I know my daughter has!

The chair is looking good, I ended up using a gloss rather than the killer varnish, but it will need several coats. I am on a roll with these and spent the afternoon yesterday covering a box with ladies heads!! I was cursing as the paper then was so soft, it tears really easily - and I think they printed the war issues on something not much better than toilet paper! Anyhow it is starting to look good too. Fired with all your lovely comments on here I have decided to get several items finished and then put them on Folksy or Etsy, the dreaded eBay and perhaps even on Pinterest. I have so many items to cover and so many magazines there is no excuse and I have got to get on and do it!

Hope you get yourself sorted, your bags packed and that you get a good journey to Wales - and have a lovely restful time.

Take care XXX

Happy 5 month anniversary @dogwheels.
Sounds like you are having a great day. How was your walk?
Happy to hear that you are going to post some of your work on line to sell.
Have a great week!

Hi @71Beetle - as always lovely to hear from you. Are you all geared up ready for 'Knee No 2 ... the continuing story'? So brave.
Inspired by your ability to get up and down from the floor (sorry I think it was you?) I figured it was about time I got down there. I thought if you could do it with a relatively new knee and a dodgy one waiting to be fixed, I had no excuse. So ...... I figured if I did the deed in the TV room where the sofas are the lowest, if everything failed I could use my arms to push my butt back up on the sofa seat. I can kneel somewhat uncomfortably on the 'good' knee - the last arthroscopy put pay to comfy kneeling on that one - so I knelt and then sat on the floor for the first time in like 6 months! I then managed to bend and push up with my TKR knee perfectly. Well, it probably wasn't the most elegant rise from the floor - but I did it and not in the straight legged or All 4's fashion my PT thought would be necessary. Ta- da!!
I didn't end up walking along the river yesterday, weather didn't look too grand, so we just walked down to the town, along the High street and back, with no shopping or stopping. Knee was fine, muscles behind my knee a bit tight but all as per usual.

@ TexasTee and others having a bit of a grump on BS - today's whine from me can be summed up in one word: WIMBLEDON!
Urrrgghhh ...... I do not like the tennis, and Wimbledon season doesn't really register with me. Even though my friend emailed to say she was at Wimbledon today, it still didn't register that a)I live less than 8 miles away from the event b) my hospital is in Wimbledon .............. and c) I had physio today. Oooooops!
Traffic was really bad with moronic cab drivers driving like idiots - I nearly had the side taken off my car by a Diplomatic Embassy car - I drive a Range Rover its not as though I am invisible for goodness sake! Anyway, in spite of all this I thought I would just have enough time to get to the hospital and park - but no - I just got to the huge roundabout where I needed to turn right about half a mile from my destination, when a couple of motorcycle police flew past me and waved me to a stop. I had to sit there like a lemon, while they stopped the traffic on all the other roads leading onto the junction. At first I thought 'Oh dear a bad traffic accident' - then a car flew past me, all police outriders and flashing lights, whizzed around the roundabout and up the side of Wimbledon Common where my hospital is, overtaking everything in its path. Fume! Somebody very important was going to the tennis and couldn't queue like everybody else. Whoever this dork was, cost me 5 minutes of soft tissue massage time. Note to self: avoid area for the next week or so.
Here endeth the whinge.

Hope everybody is OK - especially @Nana moon 27 and @DogLoverx3

Excellent news on getting up and down from the floor, outstanding!!

Bummer about the big wig who couldn't be bothered to drive like everyone else. I do like tennis but not, I'm sure, if I lived near Wimbledon!

Hello @dogwheels, hooray for you on being able to get up from off the floor! That's a huge accomplishment! Sounds as though you are doing well....so happy for you. Just to let you know that I finally got rid of the cane! I'm still a work in progress as far as walking but I'm doing so much better. Hope you have a terrific day!

Take care,
Gina

@dogwheels
I found you!!!
I am thinking of your daughter and sending good thoughts your way. How are you doing with all of this. It sounds very hard. Like N.M. said there are so many advances today vs. years ago. I love your photos. Wow, I have missed a lot!

Hi @hopefaith - thanks for stopping by and finding me! I usually hop around making a nuisance of myself on everyone else's threads - then come back here to recap and disgorge the contents of my mind every so often.

Thank you for your kind thoughts - it's still a bit of a shock for all of us, especially my daughter. She is like me and very matter of fact about things - but to be told that you have geriatric hearing at 29 is a bit of a surprise. Her job is very stressful, busy and interactive both with her own staff and others - and although she is extremely capable, she gets very tired. The doctors have now told her that much of this tiredness is due the sheer strain of sub-conscious lip reading and her brain trying to understand what is going on around her.

Her next step will be the MRI. The hearing loss is bilateral so it is unlikely to be a malformation, and more likely genetic or a virus that has caused it, but they have to check for anything 'nasty'. I'm just praying that nothing sinister shows up. She will then be counselled regarding how it is to be treated/managed. Her attitude at the moment is that she has coped this long, she can continue to do so, just with the knowledge that she isn't firing on all cylinders! She is ambitious and successful but says she will probably look into hearing aids as with enhanced hearing she will then not miss anything and will be utterly dynamic and unstoppable!!

Obviously I feel so bad for her - we are incredibly close, but other than giving lots of love and support, there is not much more that we can do. We have called in some favours so we know that she is being seen by the top man in this field in UK - and we will ensure that she has the best treatment and most sophisticated aids available. Thankfully she is very independent, super confident and attractive - so although she will see this all as a bit of a pain in the a*** I'm pretty sure that she will just get on with things.

That said, if I could take this instead of her, I would do so in a heart beat.

@dogwheels I hear you. I would trade places with my sons just like you if anything were to come up. (I can barely stand it when my son walks in with lobster red sun burnt feet (because he put sun block on everything except his feet), so I can imagine something SO much more serious.
Your daughter sounds so very amazing. (and she has a wonderful, supportive, loving Mum)
It probably explains to her, her deep fatigue over the years, doing a stellar job, with hearing loss. Wow. Like you said, once this is sorted she'll be unstoppable.
Caring and thinking and praying for you all,
~hopefaith

Your daughter has a great attitude @dogwheels - I understand your wanting to trade places with her completely. I hope all the testing goes well and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Xoxo

Hi @dogwheels,

So sorry to hear that your daughter is going through this. What is the cause of it. It must be such a challenge to deal with all of this. She is fortunate to have you in her life.

What are your plans for the weekend? Will you be watching FIFA? I have to refer to it as FIFA because I still cannot think of soccer as football. It does make more sense, of course, that a ball being moved using a foot be called football, but we are stuck with it now.

Have a great weekend!

Thinking of you and your daughter @dogwheels you have great medics on her case which is a blessing. I so relate to you taking her place, I felt the same when my son lost his leg that's how us mums feel.Take care love Terri

You and your daughter both have terrific attitudes Chris! I'm so awed by the fact that it's as bad as they say it is, and has been, and yet your daughter has still succeeded! Things will only get better from here! I think it's maybe like (for lack of a less lame comparison) being born with a disability - if you never had it, you don't really know what it's like to miss it, so when she gets some additional hearing abilities that she may have never had in the past, it will open up a whole new world. Gee, I sure hope I worded that properly and don't sound condescending or idiotic - I am just really impressed with you, your daughter and your entire family. xoxoxo

@dogwheels
Thinking so much about you daughter! I foolishly was talking about sandals on my thread when you have this going on. I trust and pray things will go well. She is very brave to do the test alone. I know it is just so hard and words don't really convey much.

@hopefaith I'm sure that @dogwheels will never agree that talking about sandals is foolish!

Chris - keeping my fingers crossed that the MRI shows something easily reparable/treatable!

Oh @dogwheels you unintentionally made me cry when you said you would take this for her in a heartbeat what a lovely, beautiful mom she has in you x going off to dry my eyes now.... Seriously xxxx you are amazing xxx
