@TexasTee , I'm sorry to hear about your knee and yes, quite bizarre to be dancing at your ex husband's wedding. huh. I feel there's a story there ;-) Oh, whoops, if I would just read the post right above, I would see the story. Duh.

When is your appointment?

Awesome article @dogwheels - glad to know we're all just one big colony of Stepford Wives :-) I love the 'enhanced' comment ..... kinda true in my neck of the woods!

I'll be looking forward to an update @TexasTee ! Sorry that your pain may not make your waiting for the 'optimal' time possible :(

@dogwheels , er, your dental procedures sound less than fun. after TKR though, they probably seem like a walk in the part though. I would absolutely do antibiotics beforehand. better safe than sorry...

xoxoxo

Ha ha ha @Judlepip and @DogLoverx3 - yep, this has been the year for having lumps of metal inserted in me - just goes to show that all my bits are wearing out!

My usual dentist fed me a whole load of wrong info and told me I couldn't have implants, so I went to an implant specialist. Usual dentist was spectacularly wrong, but the new man was so 'gung ho' I thought he was going to extract the lot and give me a whole gob of implants. Before I could say 'implant' I was signed up for 3 and an eye-watering bill! As @Judlepip says, all pretty straightforward - the only bit that grossed me out was the mini hand drill that he used to worm his way into the jawbone. He 'harvested' the bits in the drill (banged them out of the drill bit into a sterile container) and packed the implant with them. Yuk! Was supposed to go back for part2 in April, but was a bit busy with my knee at that point and wimped out. I think you're right @DogLoverx3, whatever it takes, I want some antibiotics for the next bit, better safe .....

You're right - after TKR what could be worse? Childbirth was a doddle - but another gastroscopy with no 'help' would have me sprinting, even with my new knee, in the opposite direction. Most hideously awful experience in my life!

BTW @Judlepip - my Mum has finally got the OK for her cataracts - she is having them both done about 5 weeks apart. It must be something in the air!!

Oh heavens @dogwheels. What a horror story with your original dentist. The story of the eventual implant/s sound pretty gruesome!

Gastroscopy - Yuk, poor old you. We do 'go through it' in our lifetime don't we?! All the nasty Investigations and procedures etc. quite amazing really. Had we known from the start we might have opted to stay in the womb! Hee hee!

@dogwheels, know the feeling. I have 4 implants. 2 were done 14 yrs ago and another 2 this past December. What a bill!!! Just remember to take antibiotics before procedure. Do they do that over there? Funny story I wanted to get a mother daughter tattoo and called a few places. I was already to go when I asked her if I needed to take antibiotics because if my implants, she said of course not you're fine. Then when I hung up I realized she must have thought I had my boobs done...,,needless to say still haven't done it....maybe in a few weeks when I go to chi town.

OK - here's some pictures for you from this afternoon ........... getting a bit pink so I have come in for a while. I'll be out there later with my glass of wine or a cold beer. Just wish all you guys could be here too - we'd have the best and noisiest time!
The first is the view from our bedroom balcony on the very top floor ...... since my last post I am now managing the stairs properly up and down - whoopee!

[Bonesmart.org] Oh Baby feel the (k)need in me - the sequel ..

This one is zoomed a bit from our main balcony on the first floor which is an extension of the open plan living bit. (Our boat's the middle one - husband keeps his racer elsewhere)

[Bonesmart.org] Oh Baby feel the (k)need in me - the sequel ..

This is view at the front of the house, the old mediaeval Priory. I really should have taken a video clip - because as I was taking this, the bells were chiming and the choir was practising. Perfect! Behind the hedge at the bottom is a small river.
[Bonesmart.org] Oh Baby feel the (k)need in me - the sequel ..

This last one is of our outside stairs that link the balconies on each floor. Not yet I think ....... I will need to be very brave to try these ....... perhaps next weekend??

The forecast is good for the weekend - so now you know where I am, I'll take some more tomorrow when I am out and about. It is very pretty here.

Can't be bothered to dirty up yet another set of bedlinen, so hubby and I will have to share once more. Have to admit to enjoying the peace and quiet sleeping on my own up until now. Thankfully we have a superking, so I have put a row of bolsters down the middle to prevent him doing damage to me in the night. To my knee of course!!!! (@DogLoverx3 - I think its my turn now to be protective - I could do with that plastic bubble) He has a happy habit when I am asleep and facing him with my knees bent up, of bringing his bent up knees under mine, effectively 'kneecapping' me and making me writhe about in pain. No chance that is happening - so the chastity bolsters are in position!!

Hope everyone is OK.

Hi @susanne - first off, I am so sorry to hear the troubles that you are having with your job. I do hope that 'Snazzy suit -white teeth' will come to your rescue and get things sorted the way that you want them.

We have been debating the antibiotics before dental work thing here, across the threads, which was why I mentioned the implants. Nana Moon was concerned that she had a hygiene session and nothing was suggested. Whatever the advice of my OS/Dentist - I intend scoring some antibiotics from my GP for the remaining work on the implants, to be on the safe side.

Wow! A tattoo - brave lady. Be careful though, and double check the infection risk, especially with your 'implants'.
Will you have it done in Chicago with your daughter having a matching one?

Back down to our other place tomorrow. Thanks for the nice comments - I would love to have you there sipping vodka! Those stairs are still daunting - some of my friends with fully functioning knees refuse to use theirs. Not for those with vertigo. Thankfully there is no need to use them - they are a fire precaution - but if I do venture up there, I will be double footing the stairs.

Take care Susanne and hope you get all your work worries sorted soon.

Hello @dogwheels how are you doing? Thought I'd pop into your thread and visit! :sneaker:I'm ever so glad you can get to the other place tomorrow. My husbands a bit grumpy because he didn't realise my sick note runs out on Monday and I have physio with Freddy on Tuesday. Then it's my birthday on the 27th. He wanted to go up to the caravan tomorrow. Never mind. I said we will go on the Sunday after my birthday. He's still not very happy. So I sent hi. Off to his dad's to take the no elastic top socks I bought him. 12 pairs on amazon for £6 yes, £6. They are 100% cotton too. Absolute bargain. I'd bought him some previously but when I went to wrap them up as part of his Father's Day pressie, I discovered they were ladies !!!! Lol xxxx

Catch you later
Love Nana moon 27 xxxxx

Hi @Nana moon 27 @Judlepip @Celle @Ellejay @Pumpkln @Jozilla @Chihuahuan @susanne @TexasTee @hopefaith @cafecortado @DogLoverx3 @jbucks @71Beetle @NightQuilter @zlady - sorry if I have missed anyone.

Hope you are all OK and that you have or are enjoying your day.
Thanks for stopping by @Nana moon 27 - glad you got a good deal on your phone contract and also on the socks! I'll have to look for my Mum on Amazon, too. Perhaps I'll get the ladies ones you sent back?

Just a quick update - firstly on the freezy slushy cup. I was SO excited about it last night. I was poised with camera ready to record the event for you all. First let down, the tonic water in the fridge had exceeded its sell by date. Boo! Cancel the idea for slushy G and T and improvise ....... the drink needs to be chilled so what else did I have? Mmmmmm ....... Cava (sparkling wine). In the cup it went, and out came my loving husband to observe. Typically he went straight into 'scientist mode' and I received a lecture on the freezing points of alcohol. Well for whatever reason, the cup did nothing other than make the drink even colder. 'Told you so' said hubby (story of my life), 'you need fruit juice or something water based'. 'Grrrrrrrrrrr ......' so I grabbed a bottle of peach nectar and tipped some in, but I think the cup had cooled substantially during the thesis on freezing points. Never mind - sparkling wine and peach nectar = basic Bellini ...... yum yum. The cup is back in the freezer and I have cranked it up a few notches. The cup is much firmer now ........ but hubby is warning that it might burst. I cant win and just want my slushy. Watch this space!

Thanks for all the kind comments about my daughter's hearing. Following a friend's recommendation (who happened to be one of the world authorities in this particular area of expertise - and we didn't even know!), she has a private appointment in early July, with a Professor of Otology at the Royal ENT hospital. Our friend has all but retired now, and this man has taken over most of his private practice - so he comes highly recommended. We have everything crossed and I will let you know how things progress.

Haven't been around much today - hairdressers this morning and an order for 2 more decoupage boxes. Yay!
This afternoon, I have been making my daughter's 'Cake of the Week'. This time it is a chocolate malt sponge with choc malt frosting and Maltesers. Here's a pic for all of you counting calories to have a virtual slice!

Down to our other place tomorrow - talk soon

I would think your husband loves super cooled water, I have left water bottles in the trunk when temps drop below freezing. The water bottles are still in liquid form, as soon as you move them they turn to slush. I always get a laugh when this happens.
Hope you find some answers to your daughters hearing problems.

I just gained 10 virtual pounds eating that cake @dogwheels. It looks divine.

Sorry that your slushy did not work out. I love Bellinies (sp?) on a hot day on a patio. We have a restaurant chain here called Milestones that make the best ones. I am going to have some catching up to do with my beverages when I am off of my meds. I love trying new drinks. I am not a red wine drinker at all bit cocktails, white wine and beer are fun to sample.

Hope everything works out with your daughter and you get the answers you need.

Enjoy your time at your other place. Good luck to your hubby in his races.

Hi @dogwheels

First, I'm delighted you have been able to get a consultation with a good-sounding specialist for your daughter. :yay::happydance:

Second - that cake looks sinfully delightful!

Third - sorry the slushy cup did not live up to expectations. Better luck with other drink combinations.

I'm only going to be on line intermittently for a while, as we are visiting our daughter in England. She and her husband were recently appointed special guardians for a beautiful little girl, who is now 19 months old. We're getting to know our new grandchild, and enjoying (almost) every minute of that.
Not enjoying the mini-tantrums, which mostly seem to be a result of her inability to express her wishes properly.

Her speech development is coming along, but she was a late starter, partly due to having had foster parents who spoke Portuguese and broken English to her. She's learning about one new word a day, but still asks for "Agua" when she wants a drink.

I'm not knocking the foster parents, who did a brilliant job, transforming a neglected baby into a delightful, happy toddler, who was obviously very much loved.

My left knee is really letting me know that it's time to be replaced - that's booked for September. Toddler chasing and floor play are hard on cranky knees!

Hi @dogwheels, ooh that cake... It looks absolutely delicious. It's too hot here to even think about baking, I did pack a few Betty Crocker instant mixes, as I wasn't sure whether I'd get them in France, and if you have to have a mix I reckon they're probably the best ones, but silly me...what was I even thinking of? The French patisseries sell such wonderful cakes, I think I will be taking my mixes home with me, along with the few extra pounds I must be putting on.
Sorry about the slush cup, must sounded quite a good idea, I do understand what your husband means about freezing alcohol, I've tried making gin sorbet in my ice cream maker, and ended up with a slush drink.
Hope you get good news soon about your daughter's hearing.
Have a great time in Dorset, good luck to your husband in his round the island race, I hope he enjoys himself, will he have a crew or is he on his own?
@Celle, you must be having the time of your life with your new grand daughter, sorry your knee isn't behaving, my small grandson cannot understand why everyone else will play on the floor but not Grandma.

We will be moving to a different site tomorrow, near to the Spanish border, so the same story, I don't know whether I will get wifi, so I may or may not be in touch.
Have a great weekend everyone xxx

Hi @dogwheels - interestingly enough, your thread is the only one I am NOT getting alerts from?

Sorry the first attempt at the grown up slushy did not work (not that a bellini is anything to sneeze at!) but I like your attitude - try, try again! Gorgeous looking cake - I bet your daughter was thrilled!!
