How beautiful it is Chris! And you're doing the inside stairs like a champ - awesome!!

I'm lol at your bolster - I'll need to try that when I'm not such a newly wed - sleeping with my husband is a dangerous occupation, I've been elbowed, smushed and on one memorable occasion - JUST the day of a vary painful, useless knee procedure, he kicked me right in the knee cap. Seems that he was dreaming there was an alligator and he was saving me...

Hi Chris, sorry I haven't been on here for a while, wifi is still a bit hit and miss. Your chairs are amazing, you really do have a talent.
I'm so glad you managed to get away from your house at long last and visit your 2nd home, the change will do you good, and as I've found, all the 'new' experiences that you haven't been able to do for many moons will give you such a boost. The weather looks to be very good there, so I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
We've changed sites, arrived at this new one at Agde just before lunch and set everything up, and then the blue sky turned purple, and within minutes a beautiful sunny day turned into a violent storm - hail, thunder, lightning, it was quite frightening it was all so loud.

[Bonesmart.org] Oh Baby feel the (k)need in me - the sequel ..

This is the result in our awning - it completely flooded - the water just flowed right through. We had to lift everything off the ground as quickly as we could and then lift the groundsheet - it's was floating! Everything is drying very quickly now the storm is over, and the temperature is much nicer, it was 35 degrees C, really unpleasant.
Enjoy your weekend xxx

Hello everybody - @DogLoverx3 @Nana moon 27 @TexasTee @Jozilla @71Beetle @Ellejay @susanne @NightQuilter @hopefaith @jbucks @cafecortado and anyone else whom I may have missed.

Oh my goodness @Ellejay - thanks for the catch up, but oh my, the wet inside your awning!! Hope nothing got damaged and you managed to dry out. Funny though, when the weather gets really really hot like that, the very best thing is a storm to clear the air.
Loved the pics on the other thread of where you are now - such a pretty place.

You're right, the change of scenery is great and I am thoroughly enjoying being somewhere different for a few days. I have been managing the stairs OK, but my muscles feel a bit stretched as normally I only need to do 1 flight a couple of times each day - here, there seems to be steps everywhere! But I figure it is good exercise.

The 'knee protection bolsters' worked a charm last night, all I need now is one more to stuff in husbands mouth if he starts snoring again!

I went round to one of my friends this afternoon - we sat on her balcony and her very bad cat managed to knock a big terracotta pot over - it literally burst open and there was earth everywhere. Bad Cuthbert the Cat! He too seemed particularly attached to me and my legs - it's that TKR Cat Attraction thing again ....

Hadn't long got back, when there was the unmistakeable scream - thud - splash that signals an inebriated neighbour has gone in the Marina. Believe it or not, this is quite a common occurrence. Thankfully in the 15years we have been here, the 3 of us and assorted visitors have managed to avoid taking a dip. We run an unofficial tally and the friend I visited holds the record, she regularly ends up in there ........... hic!

Tomorrow husband is off to his regatta. I am going to take a leisurely stroll down to the shops. Another friend who is an artist has an exhibition in the town museum, so I may pop in and show her a bit of support. I daren't buy anything though as we like artwork rather too much, and there isn't a lot of wall space left now!

Thankfully my sunburned legs have calmed down in colour - although I still have a delicious striped effect that I am not sure how to disguise. I think I'll need to hit the fake tan bottle once I am back on Sunday.

I hope that you manage to get some decent sleep tonight @DogLoverx3 - I wish I could bottle the air here and distribute it to you and others on this site that have problems sleeping. Hope that you are not suffering the effects of your shopping jaunts too much @Nana moon 27 and that you are having fun at your camper @Jozilla Take care, sleep well and enjoy your weekend, everyone else.

Omg @Ellejay I hope your awning is ok? That's some serious water in there! I. Just glad the weathers cleared and warmed up so you can dry the awning out. I notice it is a really good size. I used to have a bedroom tent in ours the kids loved it! Until one night a hedgehog got in and was snuffling around. The kids were screaming as they thought there was a monster sneaked in. After that they were never so keen on it. To this day it beat me how it got in when the awning was fully anchored down and the zips were shut. Please enjoy your holiday. I am so loving your pics! Xxx

@dogwheels my sense if humour is wicked. I laughed out load when you said about keeping a tally of drunken dippers at the marina lol xxxx today I bought a new quilt set and matching curtains. Im going to put them up tomorrow. I ordered a maxi dress online as the shop didn't have my size in. It's one of those designs that when the full length goes out of fashion I can shorten it into to a midi and it will still look lovely. I had to laugh. I was typing on someone's thread earlier. It was ever such a good job I reread what I had written. Instead of Cortisone shots. I typed shots with an i :heehee:

I've just tagged Josephine in my thread to decipher the docs reports.

Have a good nights sleep Chris, you sound so happy x x x x big hugs x x x x

Love Nana moon 27 xoxoxoxo

Ooh Chris I love the pictures of your other place. I love it. Oh those stunning views. Truly amazing. Xxxx

@dogwheels - sounds like you have a nice weekend planned in that beautiful place you are! I hope the weather stays nice for you and that you enjoy the shops and your friend's art exhibition. Do you sail as well or is it your hubby's thing?

@Nana moon 27 I laughed at your typo. I did that one time with a client, a Senior Manager at Public Safety Canada. I neglected to put the "L" in Public. He called me right away to laugh at me for my faux pas. I was mortified but we had a good laugh. I always crack up at the spell check fails you see floating around the internet.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Another day and more brilliant sunshine, all the water has gone and it is drying rapidly, so no harm done and I've cancelled the call to Noah, I won't need him now.
We are going to explore this new area on our bikes today, we had a quick walk yesterday evening, there was a gorgeous sunset, we are right on the banks of the Herault River, it certainly looks good around here.

I am in beautiful sunny South Jersey today. Gorgeous weather! Glad it has cleared up for you and enjoy your biking!

@Ellejay - glad you got all set up before the storm him, that might have been much more uncomfortable!

@dogwheels - I love it! Glad no one seems to come to lasting harm from their dip.

Hi everyone - @Nana moon 27 @DogLoverx3 @Ellejay @Jozilla @cafecortado @TexasTee @71Beetle @zlady @NightQuilter @Celle @hopefaith @susanne and anyone else my addled brain has forgotten to list.

I hope everybody had a good day yesterday and enjoyed whatever Fathers Day celebrations they had. I have been trying to catch up with all your posts to see what you have all been up to. Yesterday was busy, sorting the house out before we left and then much more importantly as my friend had just arrived back from France - a nice long phone call to catch up - oops over an hour slipped by. Everything was ready to go when husband got back from sailing though, so we packed up, drove back here - then daughter arrived for supper.
My daughter bought me a fun thing that I cant wait to try out. She got one and figured I would like it too. It works a bit like a freeze bowl ice cream machine. Basically it is a chill cup that you put in the freezer, then when it is at optimum coldness you add your chilled drink to it, scrunch the sides all round with your hands and voila - it semi-freezes the liquid to make a slushy. As soon as the cup is frozen I'm going to try it with a G and T!! Yay!Alcoholic slushy .... yum

@Ellejay - I hope that the weather is still good for you and that you are having a great time. Bit chillier and more overcast here today. The friend I was catching up with was saying how good the weather was where they were in France, and as they keep bikes on the boat, when there was little wind for sailing they were out and about exploring on them. Perhaps you cycled past each other?

@71Beetle - you certainly had a busy weekend. Whew!
You asked if I sailed too - the answer to that is a big fat 'No!'. I make the sandwiches, buy in the drink and ferry everyone around in the car - but I really do not do the water thing. I'm OK with powerboats - I like a bit of wall between me and the water. Sadly we have just put ours up for sale, my knee just wasn't up to jumping off and mooring up. We intend to leave things for this summer and then perhaps buy a big RIB next year. Husband said he can roll me on and off that, over the outer tubes. Nice!

@Celle - you must be in UK now, I have seen your name back on BS. Hope you had a good trip over and you enjoy your time here with your family.

@Jozilla - hope you had a lovely birthday and that your family made a big fuss of you.

@cafecortado - hope you are OK Bernie, haven't seen you around here. Have you been away and enjoying the decent weather?

Catch up with you all later ......

Ooh @dogwheels love the sound of an alcoholic slushy, mmmhmmmm. Like I said previously I've forgotten what alcohol tastes like. Once I'm off these meds I'm going to choose a really nice alcoholic drink. Just one. Mmmmmmmmx x x x x x what a lovely idea of a gift! Your daughter is so incredibly thoughtful. Xxxxx

Hi @dogwheels sounds like you had a nice weekend. The alcoholic slushy sounds great. I received a Margarita maker last year for Mother's Day. We use it a lot. No alcohol for me yet with the meds but look out when I am off of them!

I know what you mean about getting in and out of the boat. My hubby has a 17' fishing boat and I have a hcek of a time getting in and out of it - hopefully next year it will be better. I am not big into boats myself. I have a kayak that I enjoy - less bouncing around :)

Hope you have a great day!

Hi @TexasTee - The cup is newly washed and in the freezer getting cold ready for testing. Will update results ......
I made gin and tonic sorbet the other year that was yummily alcoholic, so hoping this result will be good too, and MUCH quicker. I will then move swiftly on, to a slushy version of my evil knock out Singapore Sling :martini:

Hello again @DogLoverx3 @TexasTee @Jozilla @hopefaith @susanne @71Beetle and all other friends 'across the pond'.
Just had to share this with you. I just received a couple of British vintage mags from 1941 - and I was sitting cutting them up this afternoon ready for crafting. I was reading the pages carefully as I particularly like the Wartime issues - they are so interesting and entertaining. Anyhow, one had a distinctly American theme - and a fascinating article called 'Women of the USA' ............. here's a few excerpts for your delight and entertainment. Sweeping generalisations or what??

'Long-legged, slim, with a fine complexion that is lovely but "assisted" .... that is the young American woman. She grows up much more quickly than our women ........'

'She gets much of her food in cans, all ready to eat without a lot of worry on her part; she gets her clothes ready made and, because of mass-production, she gets all sorts of labour-saving luxuries very cheaply'

'It's no fable about American men spoiling their woman if they have the means. The American husband gives his wife everything she
desires in reason and out of it .........'

There was also a great article on American food 'that is so different from our own'.

The second mag had an article @71Beetle on 'Our children in the Dominions' - according to that article, children evacuated to Canada, may not have had as up to date clothes, but they were dressed in 'a warm and serviceable way'. Evidently much more attention was paid to hair in Canada than UK, and it was always thick and glossy!!

I hadn't the heart to cut up the article until I had shared this with you all, and given you a bit of a laugh.

Oh how fun to have those magazines!! I wonder if the content is online anywhere? I'd love to read all about how spoiled I am (ok, well, that one isn't all that wrong :heehee: ) But I'll have you know that none of my food comes in a can...

In news a lot less fun my knee is pretty horrid after a weekend that was just short of bizarre and had me, among many other things, dancing at my ex husbands wedding reception! I've finally succumbed and made an appointment with the OS that specializes in knee replacement to make the decision of doing the surgery late July or wait until next February. :bolt:

Hi @TexasTee - I just love reading all the magazines. I had some from the early 1900s all about the right sort of man, and how to accept or decline a proposal - some recent ones from the 1930s asked 'Are You Too Thin' and advised how to get that rounded shape that men want! Times certainly change and I find them all utterly fascinating.
I am sorry your knee is acting up ............ that must have been quite an interesting event, dancing at your ex husbands wedding reception. Did he dance at yours, may I ask??

Aha - the surgeon's appointment ......... the point of no return! Good luck with that - mind you, at least you will be going into this knowledgably and well-prepared.

Enjoy your evening and remember to ice and elevate :heehee:

*Slushy cup update - taking quite a while to freeze, so I think it will be test driven tomorrow* Boo!

Oh @TexasTee, I'm so sorry your knee is being horrid. It's a big step, going to see the OS, I hope that you and he agree on the decision to be made and it fits in with your work. xxx

@dogwheels - you should write a blog all about the advice from the past and your modern side bar, it would be fantastic!!

@Ellejay and Chris - thanks for the kind words about the appointment, I really was putting it totally off but yesterday I had trouble getting out of the pool and my friend actually commented on the "deformity" of my knee - it's growing weird bony stuff that makes my legs look funny and enough is enough! Living with pain is one things but who wants funny looking knees?! :rotfl:

RE the ex-husband, I, sensibly, did not invite my ex-husband to my wedding! I had declined the invite but received several texts from other attendees, including the bride and groom - then the Ace card was played and my son, who is in the Army stationed far away, called me and told me that he missed me and was counting on my being at the reception. Mom dusted off her dancing shoes and reported to the reception!
