@dogwheels :heehee: On the garter...love it! Low chairs....my bane. I am so impressed with your husband's thoughtfulness! Any particular recipe for the roasted chicken. I want to copy! I wish I was more tech. Savvy about downloads. I will have to get assistance and I will!
I had to laugh about your shoes. I also have a mountain of shoes that I just toss and dig for. I was so organized before TKR! I am a boot person too.

@hopefaith , I have a knee wrap that has an insert that i keep in the freezer that velcros in and moulds to my knee. I can walk around with it and everything. Only problem is I have to wrap it really tightly or else it gradually slips down to my ankles .... not a good look.

@dogwheels ... Mmmmm, Sumo Chicken! Are you sure it's not a turkey? ;-) Sorry about your sunglasses. I can only buy cheap ones. Every time I get a 'good' pair, I either lose them or break them. If I buy a $5 pair from Walmart, they will last for years. No fair.

I think it's uber sweet how awesome your hubby is being. You should probably just face facts that he loves you!! I'm sure this whole TKR thing, in addition to being tough on you, has put in perspective how awesome you are and how much he wants you to be happy and comfy and in his life for many many many more years to come. Does he possibly have a brother who lives in the states? :heehee:

I'm so happy your knee is doing so well Chris! Keep up the great work and enjoy dinner with Captain Awesome and your daughter! xoxoxo

I'm guessing your husband is having a new found appreciation of just how much you do and how grateful he is that you're up and about and ready to do most of it again!! In my history these waves of realization are relatively short so enjoy!!! :loll:

Good luck finding your sun glasses! I buy inexpensive ones for that very reason, I can never find them from one moment to the next.

@DogLoverx3 where did you locate such an item? chuckle on the "not a good look..." That would be a page from my book if it happened. I have one son who would laugh and the other would be rolling his eyes in mortification. (luckily the one who would laugh is the one getting married. :) ) please excuse the hijack @dogwheels....

Hi @hopefaith , I actually got it from the OS's office that did my worthless arthroscopy last year. I bet if you googled something like frozen knee brace or knee brace with ice pack you might be able to come up with something. Insurance didn't cover mine and I think it cost $65.... I'll try to find a name on the tag and post when I get home!

@dogwheels - hope you find your sun glasses! I keep a cheap pair in my glove compartment in the car because I am always losing mine. I received a really nice pair as a gift. I always bought cheap ones because I lose them so often The ones I received as a gift are ridiculously expensive (nothing I would purchase by myself) so I am very careful with them.

Very thoughtful of your husband. My husband is very thoughtful as well - it is nice. He makes me laugh too. I guess that's what keeps us married for 24 years!

Enjoy your chicken dinner! Sounds divine.

I do have a six week check up next Wednesday. Not looking forward to it. My flexion is not improving and he had said at my 3 week check that he would likely do an MUA if it was not improved. I am concerned about it but I do need to get more movement before my next surgery on July 3rd.

@ nightquilter. The reason you can't find my thread is because I have so much trouble logging in that I hop around in everyone's to say hello. Thanks for the ray of hope. Workmans comp atty tomorrow Tuesday hope I have all the papers he needs
Will keep you all posted if I can ever find my thread again. Yikes :(

:heehee: ... or you could just wait for @TexasTee to post a link for you since I totally forgot to (sorry). You're the best TT. @71Beetle , an MUA at 6 weeks is ridiculous - at 6 weeks I was barely 90 degrees and I'm now at 145. The more you push your knee, the more swollen it will be. The more swollen it will be, the less it will bend. I promise you that if you take a couple days off to do pretty much nothing but ice and elevate, your knee will thank you for it!

@DogLoverx3 and @hopefaith - I will take your advice and back of PT except for my two scheduled appointments this week and see how I do. They will measure me at physio tomorrow so hopefully there will be some improvement. Ellen, your example is music to my ears. 145 sounds really good. I am really not sure what a perfectly functioning leg is supposed to be.

Hi all - now I am getting no alerts for my own thread ............:bawl:

@Judlepip, Nana Moon told me how to find your own thread - click on your avatar and get onto your Profile page. Then click the tab 'Postings' - right at the very bottom of that page it says something like 'View all threads by ***'
......... et voila! I hope you are feeling a bit better today, you sounded very down yesterday. You scar is looking good though. I still have purple patches interspersed with nice white unobtrusive bits. I keep rubbing it daily with moisturiser in the hopes that it will all fade away soon.

@71Beetle - I agree with everyone else's Rom Coms (ha ha! ROM comments) - I was only about 110+ at 6 weeks. Then it went to 0, and then I got back to around 115 at 14 weeks. I know it has edged up a bit since then. My OS has told me that given the state of my knee pre-op 120 will be a good result for me and even with that I can do all I wish to (I have no desire or inclination to kick my butt with my heels!) To be honest at this point my operated knee will bend up identically to my other knee - which it hasn't done in over 20 years .......... so that's good enough for me. In my own humble opinion and experience, I have found that it is not so much the ROM score you get, but the ease with which you achieve it that is important. I would sooner slide into an easy 115 degrees than push a painful 118!
Just for your interest, my OS told me that at 14 weeks he would only be concerned and take further action if I had been unable to achieve 90 degrees.
BTW - how are you feeling about your next surgery? Yikes - you are one brave lady! @cafecortado did the same thing, one TKR a short break and then the other. Big respect to you both.

@susanne - hope you are feeling a bit better, and that your appointment goes well.

You wouldn't believe it. I've just been in contact with one of our neighbours down at the seaside. Her knee is painful and has swollen ........ so no prizes for what I told her to do. Hopefully she is laying down, icing and elevating as I type this!!

Well I am going to scoot off and do some of my decoupage and a further hunt for the sunglasses, before another sit in the garden on my new sun lounger. Thankfully I have a huge bag of Designer knock off's from my days in the Middle East that I wont wear in public. So its just a case of deciding Prada? Dior? YSL? .........

By the way - my husband is fascinated by you all and constantly asks where the person I am 'talking to' lives. He has nicknamed BS my 'International Knee Club'.

Talk later everyone

@71Beetle - every moderator on here will tell you 6 weeks is waaaaayyyyyy too soon for an OS to be recommending an MUA. :flabber: Ice and elevate to get the swelling down. You may even want to consider finding a good shiatsu massage therapist. They will get the lymph moving out of your lower leg and knee, which will reduce the swelling dramatically. The swelling in that little knee area adds so much pain and inability to flex. After my OS saw how quickly my swelling was gone (3 weeks each knee) and how much bend I had, he asked for my magic. He now recommends massage therapy to his patients! I also used to lay on the couch and put both feet up on the wall and read for hours! One cannot elevate enough. And @dogwheels and @DogLoverx3 are correct - the flex comes and goes - there was a lot of carpentry done on your knee and the different areas heal at different rates. The other thing to keep in mind is to keep gently massaging the knee area yourself (holding the incision together to not put any strain on the new tissue) - to keep any scar tissue from building up. My favorite "self-help" for developing flex and extension: put one foot on the 3rd step on the stairs a gently bend into it - never pushing to pain. Then I would shift pressure to straighten the other knee as much as possible as well as extend the hip flexors. Then reverse. I still do it daily 18 months later! Just some thoughts....:friends:

Hi @dogwheels I hope you're okay and had a good day. How's the Vogue chair coming on?

I love the pics of foxy eating the Bundt cake! Lucky foxy!
Love Ann xxx

Wow @dogwheels Those are terrific photos of the fox in your yard. We have more wolves than fox in my neighbourhood - my 100 pound Golden Retriever does not allow much to get in our yard.

I hear all of you about my ROM and MUA (love the Rom Com reference @dogwheels!). I know that my OS just wants my left leg to have the best range before I go in for my next surgery. He has been seeing everything I have gone through for the past 5 years and likely thinks it is for the best in his eyes. I will see what he says.

Massage does seem like a good idea @NightQuilter - I will try that - specifically shiatsu eh?

@dogwheels - you can tell your hubby I am from Canada (you can reference the use of the word "eh" in the above sentence :) )

Another question for you @dogwheels - are your chairs the Zero Gravity chairs? I have a couple of those and after reading your post, I tried it out and was surprised at how much easier it is to get in and out of compared to the other lounge chairs I have been struggling to get up from. Another thumbs up for the forum and your posts!:yay:

Nothing like a fox eating a bunds came. Is that a common ocurance over the pond :)
