Hi @dogwheels @Nana moon 27 @NightQuilter
My husband is almost totally deaf in his left ear (due to diving accident) and he has greatly reduced hearing in his right ear. He has bilateral hearing aids and they help immensely. They fit right in his ear, with no external pieces, and they are flesh-coloured, so they aren't noticeable.
We can now have a decent conversation and he can hold his own socially. It's a different story when he takes them out at night, though! Then, we do have misunderstandings.
The only bad thing hubby finds with the hearing aids is that they amplify all sound, so he finds crowds difficult, as the noise all gets overwhelming. He switches the hearing aids off then!

Of course, as a judge, she does need to keep spare batteries along, just in case they die in the middle of a trial!
Yes, we are far away from one another but connected. Amazing isn't it? (Loved your story about your husband and the craft shop.)
