Hi @dogwheels, oh I really enjoyed reading your post about the plants. Those colours that you have chosen will look stunning. Purples supported by white or even gold look totally stunning x

I finally got my husband to move a massive big stone planter from down the garden and out it next to the back door. He filled it with compost, sand and pearlite. I got him to plant in two Wisteria, an old fashioned clematis and some fuchsias in the front. It already looks lovely. There are some racemes coming up already on the Wisteria, so hopefully we should have a nice show off that. I'm pleased as punch too that my white double clematis is almost fully open. I hope to post pics of it very soon x x

My knee totally hates me tonight and reduced me to tears at mom and dad's house this evening. I've so had enough. Anyway hopefully get some answers tomorrow x x x

Good night Chris. I hope you have a peaceful pain free night.

Love Nana moon 27 x x x x

Hi @dogwheels, so pleased your appointment went well. After your earlier setback you must be relieved! I'm also glad you added the word metal to the comment about everyone seeing your "bits" ;) your trip to the garden centre sounds lovely and I await the photos in due course. Oh and remember....take it slowly & gently tee hee! X

Hi Ann - I'll post in a few mins, got to ring my Mum and enquire about the state of her dentures !!!!

Will talk in a bit XX

Hi Chris

I just read your post about the state of the NHS. I totally agree with you. We have all paid in over the years in the past and now, in our working lives including our husbands and children's contributions too. It was never designed for the amount of people that are now using it.

This is why we get such limited treatment post operatively x

Rant over, one step on the soap box xxxx

Love Ann xxx

Hi Ann
Sorry, that took longer than I thought - who was it on here that said that in later life roles reverse and we become the parents?
Gosh, what a day you've had - I bet its been a strain on your husband as well. So hard for them keeping strong for you, but worrying inside and not really able to say anything.
Right - well now I am not going to say anything about the K--- word.
I have had a pretty dull day today, done some washing, some paperwork, went to the post office with 'him indoors', and ordered some boat rope - nothing terribly exciting really!
Had a good result with my broken camera though. It was a factory fault that occurred in a certain batch of the camera - and my serial no came within that batch. Canon no longer have the part to fix it, as the camera is no longer in production, so are sending me a new one even though I have had it for over 6 years. Result!
Interested about your wisteria and clematis - my daughter has a pink clematis in her garden. It must be so old, I will see if I can attach a pic of the trunk, its so gnarled and twisted. Because she is so near to the river the ground must be very fertile as the plants and flowers nearby do really well. The other week she did her whole garden, and sorted out the beds, the clematis etc - it looked really lovely and she sent me pics. The following day her ***!!!???! neighbours had hacked off lumps of the clematis that had gone through the trellis on their side and chucked it over into her garden. She was heartbroken. When I find the pics she sent I'll post them - you just wouldn't believe the mess they had made, knowing that she had been working so hard on it.
Really spooky this afternoon, a man from Texas posted his first post. He had his TKR exactly the same day as me and 6weeks or so later had a blood clot behind his knee, and had since found massage helpful. Talk about similar!
Well I better go now - I am tired and this post is getting a bit random. Got to put some Vicks up my nose and get some shut eye.
Hope you sleep well and that appointment comes through quickly
Talk tomorrow - when are you going back to the caravan?

Hi Chris
I'm hoping to go back tomorrow night maybe x x. Is your cold getting any better? X

Do you know some people are so silly with plants. My neighbours next door love the fact that each year they get a bouquet of roses over their fence and a free clematis show. They even let a strand of my rambling thornless rose grow right up to the top of their apple tree. This year it had the beautiful aApple blossom and little miniature fluffy yellow rose flowers x the same species of rose grows all up the side wall of Powys castle. I keep telling him to just cut it but they both like it! I do so feel for your daughter. Yes, pics would be wonderful xxx

Take care Chris

Hi Ann - cold is ok, just a bit runny nosed and sneezy! Hope you have a good time at the caravan, the weather is looking good for the weekend.
As you are going away, I sorted the photos of her garden for you. It's only a tiny little courtyard garden as the cottages were the homes of the coal wharf labourers on the river. Her cottage dates from 1845.
In the first pic you can just about see the trunk of the old clematis, this was taken the day after she got the keys to the house, last year. Couple of other pics of the garden after she had done it this year, penultimate is the clematis and the last one is the neighbours handiwork! (the vintage flamingos were a joke present from me, that she insisted on putting in the garden!)
Hope you get a pain free night and a good trip to Wales tomorrow.

Hi @dogwheels I think I would have had to say something to the neighbours albeit politely. That's awful what they have done, a real disgrace. I would have cried if someone had done that to mine x the garden is a real delight. She's clearly worked very hard and long on that. I do feel for your daughter. She must have felt so devastated. The trunk of that old clematis is amazing x x x

Hi gals, your progress sounds enlightening and I give you all high fives. I've read here somewhere that rubbing Witch Hazel in the dark discolored bruises will help the color go away. Thought I'd mention it. Keep up the good work. Nd keep filling us in on your after surgery process.

Hi @Betsy-Knees-6-2014 - thanks for dropping by.
I have had arnica suggested and now witch hazel - I may try it on a residual bit of discolouration on my shin - thanks for your kind suggestion. Trouble is I still have a dark black line behind my knee, which we think maybe from the bleed @ 6 weeks (although I was black behind there from Day 1). I tend to forget it - unless it hurts or I get a quick sight of it in the mirror. It's been interesting to mark progress by the extent of the bruising.
However, Summer is coming now and soon it will be bad enough displaying a scarred knee, let alone a patch of black bruising! Time for some remedial and cosmetic action I think!

Chris

Hi @dogwheels I just noticed a black line down the side of the back if the knee and some dark patches which I wonder if they're residual bruising? Xxx

Btw how is your cold? X

Love Nana moon 27 xxx

Hi @Nana moon 27 - had a hectic morning which I have just posted about on your thread. Cold is a pain - runny nose and cough -urrgh, never mind.
Although I am sorry that you still have bruising and discolouration even now, I am pleased I am not the only one that still has a multi colour leg! PT thinks that the bleed at 6 weeks may have caused it?? Perhaps you have a soft tissue problem going on that nobody is aware of??

Talk later

You know what Chris, I think that you may be right about this, thank you. By the way I have taken the virtual wag on board and I will behave while I'm away. I promise you that x

When I next see the OS I'll mention the discolouration. At first I thought it was shadowing!

I hate having a runny nose. It always gets so sore underneath and dry! The cough can drive you crazy at times!

I am going to Wales tonight.

Love Nana moon 27 x x x x

@dogwheels I have read a lot of your story. How scary those first few weeks must have been. I could not believe you had the courage doesn't always roar saying. I have that saying on a card from way back in 2001. I have that memorized! I haven't seen it anywhere since. I LOVE that saying. It should be the saying of anyone who has gone through a TKR, eh? Hope your evening is going well. I always forget the time difference.

Hi @hopefaith - I am glad I struck a chord with the 'Courage .......' saying. Amazing that it was one of your favourites. I came about it purely by chance, but it exactly summed up the way I was feeling at that particular moment.
Yes things were a bit scary - but I find it almost more scary now I have got to roughly the same point that I was before it went wrong. It has to be OK this time, doesn't it????
My constant nightmare is that I am on a never ending loop of 110 degrees ROM, dropping back to nothing and then getting it to bend to 110 again .... then dropping back to 0 .... ad infinitum. When I wake in the night I always have a shifty little knee bend to make sure that it still works.
I know that I have to take things SLOWLY AND GENTLY, which is aggravating, but I accept that currently I need to follow my PTs instructions to the letter. It's just difficult to know how much is too much. I appreciate that I need to proceed a tad more carefully than some others on here, annoying as it may be, but I just cannot afford any potential problems to be of my own making.

Hope you are doing OK today after your amazing stair descent! I am now home alone for the weekend as my husband has gone to our other house as he races his sailboat every weekend. Our clueless painters have started work so I am here supervising. Huh!

My daughter is coming round this evening for a take-out and back to back 'Glee!' - I am an unabashed fan! We have just got Season 4 DVD. Only 2 more seasons ......... don't know what we'll do then!

Take care, look after yourself and talk soon

ChrisX

Hi @dogwheels, I hope your cold is nearly better now, I have a sneaking suspicion I have caught my grandsons from when I went to care for him on Tuesday, but I'm not admitting to it or my husband will say "I told you so"
Cortisone injection went well this morning, but I'm not sure that I can rest much as I'm having grandson tonight and all day tomorrow as now the child minder is ill! Again, my husband is definitely not happy, but neither parent can take tomorrow off so there is no other solution.
Enjoy your take out and Glee, I have to admit to never having seen it, may be I should start? xxx

Oh @Ellejay - if you have the same cold, it is not dire, just inconvenient (think fuggy head and nose like a tap). I've already posted on your thread so wont repeat myself.

Glee?? It is my guilty pleasure !!!
