Hi and well done you gong solo today. I am so proud and pleased as ouch that you did that. It's another step towards normality. I'm hoping I'll improve in six months like Judlepip!

Husbands just sent a photo text. A very large sea trout he has caught. Thank goodness. He's really struggled at the start of this season. The fish were late coming up the river etc.

I've posted on my own thread Chris so I need to go because it is so very cold here. My fingers are bitter cold. @Ellejay I'm going to post a how are you and I hope that all is well with you too here, it's so cold my fingers feel liki they got frostbite. Take care catch you later love Ann xxxx

Hi @Nana moon 27 - thanks for stopping by and posting here in the midst of the bad weather. Husband has returned 2 days early as both sailing races were cancelled due to rain and high winds forecast.
Well done to your husband in catching such a big sea trout. Will you cook it or does he return them?
I'm whizzing over to your thread now ..............
Sushi was amazing @TexasTee - we were just debating stool (don't lets go there again girls!) over booth, when daughter spied the lower counter that they use for wheelchair users had lower stools that didn't require climbing onto. Fantastic! So I didn't end up rolling around on the bench seat of the booth or falling off the high stool - and we didn't end up in fits of raucous laughter either! We ate SO much, as we had both been saving ourselves for a huge sushi splurge. Nom nom nom ......... Just had time for a teensy bit of retail therapy (2 dresses 2 sweaters and a pair of shoes) before heading back home and sneaking the bags in and upstairs - I am a bad person and have no self restraint!!!
Night night all
X

Yum! Yo Shushi...I love it there. Glad you managed to enjoy it whilst sitting comfortably ;) I've forgotten what that's like at the moment, sitting is sooo dam hard! Good work on the shopping and the sneaking ;) xx

Hello everyone,
My daughter and I love Yo Sushi @dogwheels, I was drooling whilst reading your post. I'm glad you enjoyed the retail therapy, you are enjoying your freedom aren't you :heehee:.
I hope your weather improves @Nana moon 27, I know how cold a welsh caravan site can be.

I had my very first massage session today, any PT I've had so far has always concentrated on exercise, so the massage was a new experience, and what a great experience! My knee felt so good afterwards, and I've got a ROM of 110 - pretty good. I wanted to get my bike out to try as soon as I got home, but it was pouring with rain and I didn't want to get it wet - I will try it tomorrow. The PT can't understand why I can't use it, she said I have enough bend, I'm not sure, I'm a bit nervous :bicycle2:.

Hi @Ellejay - hope you manage to get on your bike and not be knocked off by the wind - its SO windy here!

Well done with the increased bend - I thought massage would make a big difference, if nothing else it gives a short term loosening effect.

As for the bend to ride your bike, many many posts ago when I was only about 5 weeks out I remember saying that my physio had said that your ROM is usually a lot better than the number. We panic and stiffen when the dreaded measure comes out, fearing the worst - however in everyday situations we are exceeding our ROM measurement on a regular basis as a matter of course, without even thinking about it. We dont think 'I havent got enough bend to maneouvre my knee into that car' - we just wiggle, bend and do it. Mind over matter!

Good luck - hope you are bowling along on the bike really soon ...... but take care and mind the other knee doesn't protest!

@dogwheels - this site is acting wacky! if you tag more than one person it is erasing my whole note! Ok, third time over - sounds like a great night out with your daughter!

ellejay - not tagged so as to not eat my post! Have you considered a trainer for your bike? It's just a thing to keep the wheel off the ground so that you can ride an outside bike, inside. Might be good to build up your confidence and stamina inside before braving the great outdoors!

Hi @Texas Tee - I have found exactly the same thing has happened with me when tagging multiple people. When you have verbal diarrhoea like me, that is very frustrating. I have made do by clicking on the first tag and then typing further ones in manually. My other annoyance is being sent back to the very first post of my regularly frequented threads instead of the last unread. Grrrr .....
Great idea for a stand for @Ellejay's bike - makes a lot of sense to me, but then cycling is not my strength - give me 4 wheels and metal or a great big motor and a rudder!
Another fox in my garden today, right up by the patio doors. He looked very woebegone and damp from last nights heavy rain and a bit out of sorts. He has a bad leg ....... perhaps he had a bit of telepathic feeling that this was the house of bad legs? His looked like a bite though - he limped off after a while, poor thing - he needs to ice and elevate!!!! Do you ever get coyotes coming near to houses? Do they cause damage?

TGIF - end of the week - hope you have a great weekend!

Hi @dogwheels he was using a barbless hook so he could return it. The way I eat trout is sacrilege! Covered in tandoori paste and grilled or roasted. Better it lives to fight another day. He's gone agin he's so excited and I'm enjoying the peace!

I'm glad your husband is back safe and sound. These winds are pretty strong up here too. It was great you found lower chairs in yo sushi! And the retail therapy sounds like a perfect ending to the day...lovely x x

I hope that you are ok Chris and I will catch you later x x

Aha! Thanks for the work around @dogwheels! Austin does sometimes have coyote problems - generally in a drought (which is often!) they get hungry and can be dangerous for small pets.

Hi everyone, just got in from a great evening out with friends, we went to a local pub for a meal, nothing special but I was able to walk there and back, the company was great, so I'm feeling very happy, (it doesn't take much :heehee:)
@TexasTee, funnily enough I had exactly the same idea just today - once I'd failed yet again to ride my bike! My Dad was a very keen cyclist in his younger years and still has a garage full of cycling paraphernalia, so I phoned him this morning to ask if he had a stand - he hasn't . As we will be off on our travels next week it doesn't seem worth buying one now, we've decided to take my bike and hope that I can ride it on quieter roads in rural France. I think the problem is that I have just lost my confidence. I can now cycle miles on my static bike, with a really low saddle, but I am frightened of the initial pain when my knee goes round the top, I'm scared that if it is a sudden shock I would fall off. When I start on my static it hurts (a lot) for the first couple of revolutions, but then everything relaxes and I'm fine, but I know I can't fall, unlike on my real bike. I will keep trying.....

@Ellejay - congrats on walking to the Pub and back!! That's what this is about, being able to do normal stuff without others having to constantly ask if you are able. I hate that! GRRRR.

Too bad your dad didn't have a trainer - now...don't think ill of me...but they DO make training wheels that would fit on an adult bike. Just for the sake of your confidence...might be a thing to look into? Falling off is nothing to take lightly!

Oh @TexasTee, I don't think ill of you at all, in fact I think that sounds a great idea, I don't know why I didn't think of that! Why didn't my husband think of that? I only need my confidence back, I think once I get going my ROM is sufficient. I'm sure you are all fed up with my obsession, but it's just something I have to do. I will make enquiries about training wheels. Anyone who can make a fool of herself with armbands on her ankles in a public pool isn't worried about being seen with training wheels!

Yeah! @Ellejay - glad you weren't offended...since you already know you are going to have to do this again it's a reasonable thing to invest in. Nothing like "fed up about your obsession" just want you to be able to do it, safely! as soon as you can. Best - Tee

Oh - and they call them Bike Stabilizers on Amazon's...sounds a bit better than training wheels!

WOW @dogwheels!, thank you so much Chris for such a comprehensive list! I'm so excited to try it out.....I just need to work out how to keep the list dry as I'll never remember it all ;)......I can feel some laminating coming on! Thank you again, it was so kind of you. Love Bernie xxx

Hope you find it helpful @cafecortado - don't talk to me about laminating. I spend hours every week laminating race charts for hubby's sailing! Urrrgghhh ...........

Well, I have spent today trying to track down some training wheels / stabilisers. My husband visited every cycle shop anywhere near us and I have been on the phone to disability aids centres, but no one can provide them, in fact one internet site I visited said that they shouldn't be used on electric bikes. I was so excited last night, but now it looks as if I'm back to gritting my teeth and just going for full revolution myself. I can get stabilisers for adult bikes on the internet, but as we are travelling soon they might not be delivered in time, and then there is the suggestion that they are no good on e bikes. I had a long session on the static again today, but the weather has been so bad I didn't want to get my bike wet just for ten minutes tryout. I have another massage session on Tuesday, but that will be the last one before we depart for France. You will know if I'msuccessful with the bike, even all of you across the pond will hear my squeal of delight.
Xxx Ellejay / Training wheels / Lyn

What a shame @Ellejay - how disappointing once you had thought you had solved the problem. I think you are brave, an ordinary bike is bad enough let alone an electric one! I have visions of taking off on one of those and not being able to stop. Perhaps you can find a friend of Freddie on your travels in France and get some massage and physio assistance en route? Ooo la la!
Hasn't the weather been dire today? So cold and miserable.
Looks as though we are on here at the same time at night, hopping around each other's threads.
But I am off now too ring my Mum - duty calls. In case I forget, I hope your daughters presentation and shortlist interview goes well.
Take care XXXX
