eww - baked bugs, not my thing...

If you are going to paint them, I think that would kill them instantly - I'm not sure that the residue from the bug killer would work well with paint but that's just a guess.

I love the look of the pinecone mulch - the article said it would actually feed the plants in time and it keeps cats and slugs out of the garden...but yes, that would take a LOT of pinecones!

So pretty. I adore Christmas decorations and love the pine cone Xmas trees. Sounds like you are there with your recovery Chris! You are doing so well. Way to go on the stairs. I am still hesitant coming down! Talk to you tomorrow! Xoxo JoAnne

@dogwheels just checking in. Did the Mario brothers finish? I love the biscuits and tea. We are so not as hospitable. It motivates me to be kinder. Yes, I miss all my hobbies. Would love to hear about your pinecone venture. I will get back.

Hi All - well today is going to be somewhat busy and slightly fraught ..... Firstly we have the Mario Bros painting. Thank you for asking @hopefaith but they are still going strong - there is quite a lot to paint. They have now got to the front of the house that has a nasty high bit. Rain is threatened for this afternoon so I am not sure how this all will go :sos: . They parked their cruddy (shabby) painter's van on the drive in front of my garage this morning - right out of the way, which meant that left my lovely shiny black car on the main drive in paint splatter zone. Thankfully husband was up early and has moved it right to the very entrance to our drive BUT I have my cleaners arriving soon, our water heater has broken so the heating engineer is coming to fix, plus I have loads of deliveries this morning, including my new clothes steamer! I think I will have a queue of cars parked on the approach to our house. My - will I be popular with the neighbours!

I am contemplating gathering some pinecones, before it starts to rain - just in case I may want to use them. I know my husband will say 'Not more craft stuff' - but hey, he'll just have to humour me. On the subject of craft I thought I would follow up with the shop that displays some of my decoupage items. They are supposed to contact me when sales have happened and I have heard nothing for a while. I contacted them to say that I would send my husband along to collect the items they had, as no sales obviously meant their shop was not the right outlet for my particular craft. Lo and behold - she tells me that most of them have sold, but didn't think to tell me! So I am very pleased, but just faintly annoyed for being kept in the dark.

I don't know what I would do without my hobbies and craft @hopefaith, although it took quite a while after the TKR before I had the right mind set and concentration level to go back to it. For those sufficiently interested the 2 covered chairs are progressing nicely - I will post some pics soon. Before continuing with them however, daughter has bought a metal patio set for her little garden. The weather was hot this weekend and she didn't think and sat on the metal chair - ouch!!! So I have been requested to make some cushions to prevent a re-occurrence. I have some great sushi print fabric, which she loves - but given the retro pink flamingos I bought her, I think a Hawaiian print may look better. I will have to search through my fabric cupboard.

Oh ........ the knee. Bit stiff today, courtesy of the deep massage ministrations of my PT and also quite likely the impending rain. Did a stair descent last night and it was scarily fine - hoping for the same today.

Hope everyone is OK and their knees are behaving. Thinking of you all day today @DogLoverx3 - so hope your appt goes well.

Talk later

Sounds like your drive will be a three ring circus today!! Hope the rain stays away so the Mario Bro's can finish :)

Congrats on selling most of your pieces!

@dogwheels It is so interesting to read your posts. I love decorating, changing things up. The air has gone out of that balloon , but I know it will return at some point down the road. I would LOVE to see photos of your chairs! Your daughters chair cushions come first. (Pics of those would be lovely too (:). I was a member of the ODIC yesterday darn it, up half the night! I am convinced they have conversations with us. (Not to think I have fallen off a deep end, I haven't). Be kind to your knee. Sounds like it is doing fantastic!

Ooh Chris I have so enjoyed reading your posts here. They're great x x x x thank you for taking the time out to do them. You are effectively run off your feet right now x x x

And that's a "Like" from me too, Chris! Looking forward to seeing those cushions and the chairs.

Glad the knee managed the stairs!

@dogwheels - re the story in DL3s thread - NO I'd not trust him to be as clean as I would be I'd still make him take the first go at it! In that case, likely followed by a cleaning service and finalized by me. Ewww! how long did he stay? You must be the best poker player ever if it was longer than an over night.

@TexasTee - 3 whole nights! The last night we took him to this beautiful place called Isabella Plantation. It is a park within Richmond Park and in Spring it is full of rhododendrons, azaleas and other plants. The smells of the flowers are out of this world. Well it is quite a walk from the car park and as I said he could only shuffle along. My husband went striding ahead as he walks fast, hates dawdling and doesn't do small talk (and quite frankly had had enough), so I brought up the rear with our guest. Lots of people go there in the evening and after a short while I noticed that people were sort of nodding and smiling at me. Then I realised - they obviously thought I was a helper and he was a 'care in the community' vulnerable person!

Enough! The very memory will give me nightmares.

Goodnight and sleep well.

Hey Chris, oh my goodness, I'm so behind on everyone's thread! Before I make a concerted effort to catch up, I thought I'd just send you a quick post to see if you are watching French Collection on channel 4 at 1:40 mon-Fri? It makes me think of you when they buy and then upcycle items....Sorry @hopefaith and other none UK friends, it's a bit of a competition, where 3 people are taken to a market somewhere in France and are given an amount of euros. They have to buy items, maybe restore or upcycle one of them and then sell them on in England. The one who makes the most profit, keeps all the profit from the 2 other contestants as well. Anyway Chris, just thought you might like it :) xx

You'd definitely enjoy that show Chris - we have a show exactly the same with a different name, really fun to watch!

So this weekend is my weekend for the builders as we are having the guttering, fascias, soffits and all that palava replaced. As well as the constant noise of hammering driving me mad, I live in a bungalow so I have a "lovely view" of builders guts & bums filling my patio doors! Great!

:rotfl::rotfl::loll:Builder's Bums!! What a grand view you will have Bernie!! Letting it all hang out, eh??

Yep - I have been doing good. A couple of trips shopping for an hour each time and driving there and back went well. I was a bit achy - but it was a muscle ache rather than a knee ache. Today I have been to a big Tesco's - not for food shopping, just bits and bobs that I couldn't get on my Ocado order. I didn't take a trolley up the travelator as I thought I may not be able to manoeuvre it and have to take the strain on my knee. See - I had my very sensible hat on! I got a small trolley once I was on the ground floor and it was lovely walking around with it - I now know how my Mum feels with her 'rollator walkie wheely'. Popped to another shop on the way back and now indoors.

Hope your weekend goes well and the crochet grows quickly - talk again soon.

Hi all - well I am pleased to announce that my little solo shopping trips this week have been good, and apart from being a little more stiff than usual (could easily be due to the wet weather and thunderstorms) I am none the worse for these first solo forays into normality. I was so pleased that I was able to do a little 'hands on' shopping for our daughter's birthday, instead of having to rely on the internet and am really pleased with what I have bought. Today I made sure that I bought something for her from Gilbert - he gave me some guidelines, although he is a little short of £'s at the moment!
My painters have done a great job this week and got the work done quickly in a brilliant weather window - the smell has almost gone now, thank goodness.
This afternoon I tested my new clothes steamer and am well pleased with the results. It comes to steam in 40 secs and two T shirt dresses were done perfectly, straight from drying. I played with a shirt, but in my novice eagerness had forgot to put the placket attachment on before heating it up, so although it did the flat bits perfectly, I really needed the other attachment to do a great job. I don't think it is necessarily quicker than ironing @Judlepip, but that was not my reason for buying - it is to take creases out of clothes that have got crushed or crumpled in the wardrobe immediately, so I can wear them straight away.
Today, my husband went to collect the couple of unsold decoupage items from the shop that was displaying them for me, plus collect the cash for the sold items. I had a hilarious online moment agreeing with the shop owner how my husband could prove who he was in order to collect these things. I offered passport, driving licence, utility bill ... and said that his name was Dr *************. She said she didn't need any proof he was just to say 'I am the Doctor'. This caused me to roll about laughing - I have been singing the 'Dr Who' theme music and doing Dalek impressions around him ever since.
I was pleased to learn that one of my big boxes had not sold, as I have a prospective Buyer for it. Anyway 'the Doctor' went along today to collect and they have 'lost' it. I'm not pleased and will be having words, although I doubt I have any rights as such. It was quite a big item, so would have been difficult to shoplift. Hubby said they were hopelessly disorganised so perhaps its just as well we have parted company.
Anyway enough of my burbling ..............
Hope everyone has had a good day and enjoys their weekends.

Hi Chris,

Sorry about that silly shop 'losing' your piece. Very unprofessional and they should be made to compensate you for it.
I hope you know your nickname is no longer 'mermaid', but 'crafty one'. I need to not read about all your projects because they make me think I can be creative too. I assure you, I can't. My new house has this horrid shiny brass finish on everything and as funds are a bit tight right now, I googled how to paint metal finishes and decided to make everything 'brushed nickel'. I went and bought all my supplies today. I taped up just one closet for a start. And off I went. And totally mucked it up. I have NO patience. I did a shoddy taping job so not only is the closet surround now a drippy brushed nickel, but so are patches of carpet, a spot on my dresser as well as several pairs of shoes and shirts as I opted to half-a$$ it all and not actually empty the closet first. Brilliant. Oh, and I also had all the doors and windows shut. Needless to say, the closet looks like poo and I have a raging headache. I blame you. :rotfl:
