Hi Layla,

Thanks! I am doing well after my right THR. The procedure went well. I reported to the surgery center at 6:00am and I was headed home at 1:30pm. My pain is minimal. I'm just experiencing the normal soreness and stiffness that everyone experiences. I had my 3 weeks follow up with my surgeon today and all is well. I am ambulating with a cane, and I'm finally starting to rest a little better at night. The first couple of weeks were pretty bad from a comfort level. I'm walking every day and my strength and mobility is improving. I just completed my six sessions of at home PT. I don't think that I am going to go to outpatient PT. I didn't have a good experience with them the last time, and my surgeon does not push outpatient. Thanks for checking on me!

Good for you. What's important -- as you know -- is walking. My surgeon is a big advocate of this and, like yours, doesn't think PT is needed. With my hip replacement last year, I waited until I was several month post-op and had plenty of mobility before I saw a PT -- and then, it was because I had some soft tissue problems that needed his "tweaking."

Keep using that cane and concentrated on heel-toe walking. When it's smooth without the cane, you can let it go.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Hello,
Thanks for the update, Jeff.
Nice to hear from you and it's especially great to know you're doing so well. Thankfully the first couple of weeks are behind you, you've already transitioned to a cane and and you're resting more comfortably at night. All good news! May the rest of your recovery be smooth sailing! Please keep us in the loop, we love updates. :)

How wonderful to hear that your right hip surgery recovery is going so well. You are so much more knowledgeable now about this whole process, so things should continue on a good path to full recovery. Won’t it be great not to have to worry about when that “second” hip might go? You’ll have two strong new hips to take you on many new adventures. Be sure and let us know how you’re doing. We LOVE those updates.

Hi Jeff,
Happy One Month Anniversary!
Best wishes for a great holiday weekend! :)

Hi there Glass,
Seven months to date since your Left THR. Happy Seven Month Anniversary!
I hope both new hips are doing well and you're enjoying the last couple of days of Summer.
In my mind, Fall is already here, has been for weeks as I tried to mentally deny the heat and humidity that seemed to be overstaying its welcome. Wrap it Up Summer...I'm Over You, lol.
Hopefully you're looking forward to the change of seasons also. Have a great week and stay in touch!
