Wouldn't the grabber work in those situations?
Yes a grabber definitely works for dressing and undressing. I didn't have help post op and my trusty grabbers worked just fine. Physio will show you this when you are in the hospital. But Ms Muffet is right - TEDs are impossible to get on and off yourself. If it were me I would tell your surgeon that you won't have any help with them. Perhaps they will rethink you needing them if you don't have help.

Ok back from the hospital lab....peed in their cup as directed. Now awaiting the results. Need prayers from All of You for good results!!!!! And the patience to cope with the disappointment of a delay if they're not so good :(

Unfortunately I am one who can not take Xarelto - but I hope you are just fine on it. Fingers crossed on those results!

Okay - holding your hand in prayers. They will call you with the results? When? ~ ~ Hey, let's look at the 'glass half full'.....YAY!!! No TEDs! Hope I get to take the medical route when my time comes. (Maybe I'll fudge a bit with who is/isn't available to help me get them on) ~ ~ In the meantime, let's prepare as tho you will be getting the procedure tomorrow. Get your list....and check it twice (like Santa!).

@Jillie422 - hope the urinalyas test comes back that all systems are good to go! Just realized I don't know how to spell urinaylasis, but didn't want to say "tinkle test." Ha Ha Urinalasis? Urinalysis? I'll get it eventually. In the meantime, best wishes to you!

Well....New hip postponed till Monday afternoon...will be taking a round of Augmentin till then. Hopefully all will be well for a Go on Monday! Disappointed....but I've waited this long so...:) Grateful that my surgeon is so thorough.

Ahhh, bummer. Just when you thought YOU were in control!!! Snuggle with hubby and Jax and relax over the weekend. And you're right, glad your surgeon is so thorough. We're all still here to hold your hand.

I've always been a believer that God Works in Mysterious Ways and that Everything Happens For A Reason.

Surgery was postponed for tomorrow since that UTI is still haunting me. Then tonight we get the phone call that Sweet Hubby's mother is gravely ill and that he's needed ASAP. Of course he's beside himself because she's in Florida, and we're here in NC preparing for my THR. Stress much?! So I told him to go.... Stay with his mom. She's in ICU, critical, but stable...85, congestive heart failure + sepsis. Doesn't sound good At All. Don't want him to feel like he's having to choose. Told him that I will postpone my surgery until he's back home, which will also give me time to take more of the Augmentin instead of just taking it until Monday. I'm more comfortable with that anyway. I wasn't symptomatic when they discovered the UTI, but now I'm feeling it even tho I've been on the Bactrim for 10 days. Seems to be darn stubborn and infection is my biggest fear. I'm fine here by myself now..... But wouldn't be if I'd had the surgery early tomorrow morning and then his mother took this turn!

I'm feeling the Wheels of The Universe turning.

Ah @Jillie422 what sad news. Am so sorry for your husband, he must feel torn, but I can see your thinking. And how unselfish of you to put him and your mother in law first. I hope she is as comfortable as possible and you get a renewed date for when things are more settled. Meanwhile get that UTI away and don't overdo things while you're on your own. Best wishes

Oh@@Jillie422 sending you prayers and hugs and well wishes... Sending the same for DH. :prayer:Pray your MIL recovers well. She must know she has a very special DIL. How unselfish and humble of you to not make him choose. You have a true givers heart.
Hope the UTI clears fast. Lots of water and cranberry juice. Flush all those germ invaders out!! I hope you're having a beautiful spring. Here in the deep South it's already warm and a little sticky! :friends:
It had to be hard to get all prepared and then have, not one but two, postponements. As you said, it's in Gods time not ours, and everything happens for a reason! You're in my thoughts and prayers :prayer:.

@Jillie422 i did have my surgery yesterday and it went swimmingly! No problems whatsoever with surgery. I did have a minor problem in recovery with trying to get up and walk too soon. Just a little nausea from the anesthesia but was full of morphine to level the after surgery pain. I though I was fine to walk but my body thought differently. Had to get back on the bed and get some sugar in me to bring all my vitals back up. Once I got up from that I was fine and heading home! I'm so glad to be recovering at home! Hugs to you!

Awww @Jillie422 ~ that's what I meant when I said 'just when you thought YOU were in control'.....it really is meant to be that you have been 'delayed'. Bless your DH and MIL...and you. Hers is an emergency....yours is 'scheduled'. Keep us posted....and you keep busy clearing up that stubborn uti.

oh @Jillie422, I could say what a shame for your postponement, but seeing what's happening its probably for the best. You are a lovely person to be so kind and unselfish for your husband. I hope you manage to get a good new date for your surgery. I also had thrush and a uti just before the op but managed to shake it off fortunately for me. Good luck with everything and best wishes to all your family at this time.

Hi All Y'all!
I'm so very grateful to have you! :friends:

Update before I scoot off to get my new, stronger antibiotic. My awesome neighbor has brought me the keys to her extra car, so I have wheels if needed. She helped me put out some clean nectar for my little hummingbird friends and watered our garden. She's The Best

I have named my new hip "Herman" haha :snork::snork:

Surgery update:
I'm rescheduled for Monday, May 9th! :) :) That gives Sweet Hubby time to get home...and also gives me time to get rid of this nagging UTI. Next Friday morning, I'll return to the hospital lab and present them with... hopefully... a new and improved urine sample that will be Herman's final clearance.

MIL update:
She is asking for "her boys". My Tommy is enroute and will arrive later today. It's about an 8hr drive from here. His brother is a teacher in Saudi Arabia and will arrive on Monday. I'm praying she's still here....she's been "having talks and lemonade" in the garden of her childhood home in Harlan, KY with her grandma and grandpa, bless her heart...

@Jillie422 I'm so sorry that your husband is having to go through the stress that comes when a parent is dying. Both of my in-laws are dead as is my dad but my mother (age 91) is in a local nursing home and suffers from dementia. We try to go on with our lives and just take things as they come when it comes to her. I remember telling her over and over again that I was having my hip(s) replaced and she never knew what I was talking about. My reactions to changes or stumbling blocks are that 'they are simply meant to be' and we accept that which we cannot change. It was meant that your surgery be put off just one more week. It is so wonderful to have a good neighbor and very fortunate for the hummies! Now, with the DH gone for a few days, rest, relax, drink lots of water and look forward to no more pain within just a few weeks. --julie

@Jillie422 - Wow, that's a lot going on at once. Life certainly can be difficult at times. I believe that's in the running for "understatement comment of the year." I know there is disappointment in postponing, but given the circumstances, hopefully the pause will allow for your infection to clear and give your hubby time he needs. There's a new normal for all of us on the horizon, as we navigate living with new mobility while meeting head-on the "regular" challenges of life. Be good to yourself today and know you are being wished well.

Hi @Jillie422! Thinking about you and hoping you got your new meds and are kicking :arrow:that UTI out of your life! Hope DH made it safely. Prayers for your family and MIL. :prayer: A lot of major stuff going on at one time. Hope you can not stress too much and take care of yourself through all of this. What a blessing for a neighbor! Take good care!:loveshwr:
