Happy Wednesday!
We could have consoled you in regard to numbness. I had areas that lasted for months.
Same with incision area sensations, light pains, sensitivity, prickly sensations, shock like sensations.
Yep, experienced it all. In the early weeks one odd sensation was replaced by another. I finally realized that all of these weird pains / sensations were short lived and decided unless it escalated, or lingered, I'd ignore it.

Hope you're having a good day so far. I'm still drinking my morning coffee and posting a few. It's only 7:30 am and it's a chilly one here. Snow on the ground with a high today of only 27D/-2C.
Have a good one!
@Jamesdean

My father's heart surgeon who preformed his emergency triple by-pass was Dr. Slaughter.
No joke...like, who would even pick him out of a phone book???????:thud:

@Jamesdean Somehow I missed the memo re: possible infection, and I'm so relieved for you that this is not the case! How could the GP announce this over the phone and without seeing you???:holysheep::censored::blackcloud:What a pair this gent and mine would make :thud:

I second @Laya on the numbness...ya shoulda said something here and not worried alone! With this second surgery I have numbness on the lower inside part of my thigh and knee. It is improving with icing and as the swelling goes down...still some residual in week three, but on its way out. If it doesn't resolve by six weeks I'll maybe mention it to the OS. I think it is like many things with the THR...it takes time to shake out and heal :bored:
My first surgery I worried about everything...I think we all do, even if the worry isn't expressed in it's entirety here!

I might with a little bit of luck [song from My Fair Lady] be able to get a year if I start walking properly and take pressure off it.
I have to say, the walking properly makes a huge difference. My :fingersx: and :praying: that you will get a year out of Righty.

I work with children and adults with language based learning differences (Dyslexia). I originally trained as a elementary teacher, but specialized straight away, and haven't worked in a full classroom since my practicums years ago! Hard to believe with my posts here, as I can hardly string a sentences together and never proof read! I swear, my brain still hasn't recovered from the anesthesias (first one in particular) and two rounds of narcotic drugs. I'm a cheap date, what can I say. Hope the fog brain, although better this time, dissipates sooner vs. later this time around :dubious:.

Wishing you a great Thursday!

Hi @Alitm and thanks for message. My phone GP also said that the District Nurse couldn't say if the incision was infected. I told her what he had said and she said she was used to it and hopefully he would soon be put out to pasture (my words not hers). Personally, I am enjoying putting pen to paper or finger to tablet, it's been a while and at least gets the grey/gray matter going. Cheap date, interesting? Happy Thursday to you:old:

Dean

Layla @Layla . Thank you for your continued support it really is appreciated. Any number issues and I shall ask you, you see I have learnt.

Dean:tree lights:

:wave:Hope your Thursday is a Good Day!
It is only after 4am here:mcoffee: and will be a long day...
Will it be the first of the year before you return to work?
Hope the weather has been conducive to you being able to get out some and do some short walks.

Keep the faith...and be careful if you decide to get out and about:driver:

Hey Dean...is it raining down in your part of the world today? Never stopped up here yesterday so only walk i got was round Tesco!
You might have some body numbness but note your brain is working really well going by poetry and wit
Thank you for making us smile
:snork:

hi @Mojo333 and thanks again. Work return scheduled for 12 January but surgeon says maybe a couple of weeks later as waiting for muscles to reappear which reminds me that I do love mussels. Weather not exactly great but as soon as I see a bit of a break I do get out if possible. Takes a bit of time to get everything ready. Problem I think is that I am on my own all day so bored other than writing songs, and learning Spanish and booking next years holidays. Had friends scheduled to stay this weekend but decided between us to delay until mid January when things have settled down a bit more and I just might be able to walk to the pub [I can do that now actually] and relax with a beer in my hand.

Dean:cheers:

hi @Cathippy and many thanks for those kind words, very nice of you. Weather down here is very Scandinavian at the moment as in not sure if it is going to get light today. Have been enjoying walks and will try to get out again today but not keen on slippery surfaces [or I am just a wimp]. Also, from the time I decide to have a walk to getting out for a walk is not exactly swift. But if I see a bit of weather that seems ok, I am gone. Have to play many games before getting out -
1. Toilet first - you never know
2. Where did I put my grabber
3. Where did I put my phone
4. Where are my slip on shoes
5. Where is the extended shoe horn.
6. Putting on slip ons don't break any rules.
7. Right ready now - oops go slowly got 18 stairs to get down first.
8. Out of apartment blocks main door, really hard to open one handed, And walk can start

So when I say I am going for a quick walk???? Dean

@Jamesdean Have you not heard the expression "cheap date"?

I rarely drink (the occasional G & T), as it goes straight to my head, never became involved in the drug scene, and seem to be really hit hard by anaesthesia and the pain meds. I had terrible brain fog after my surgery in September. Have been chatting with others about it as it was my biggest worry going into second surgery, that the brain fog would get worse. I also spoke to anesthesiologist about it before second surgery. I was clearer headed this time around, but still find any deep cognitive processing really tough. I've been off Tramacet since week two.

A friend posted the following on social media and I copied it, as it kinda explains how I feel: "My mind is like an internet browser, 19 tabs open, 3 of them frozen, & I have no idea where the music is coming from"!!!

:dubious:

It gets better the further out I am, but at not quite three weeks out, it is still pretty bad! Oh the joy of THR!! The relief from the OA pain x 2 is so amazing, I'll take the short term side effects of the surgery!!

Happy tea time in the UK!

hi @Alitm . I always knew when I had had enough to drink, it was when I fell over. But now, much older, wiser person, maybe, perhaps - maybe not fall over though, must look after lefty. Don't know if I had a brain fog or not, I don't think so and it would be difficult to tell to be quite honest because where I work three people think Uruguay is the capital of Peru and I managed to convince 7 people that the 25th December was Santa Clauses birthday, although was subsequently told that one of them looked it up on internet and Santa Clause birthday was in March.

On another note, I have received my exercises from the physio department which you can see below which I am to try three times a day [just need a partner]

Ha ha ha @Jamesdean! Impressive physio routine!!! You might be safer on a horse!!! :fasthorse:

I knew a gal who was sent away to boarding school, as many were, from my growing up in Bermuda days. Someone asked her if she was at school in the United States, and she replied, "No, I'm at school in Colorado!" :thud:

@Alitm Do you mean United States where the capital is California [have it on good authority from co-worker]. As I have only just ditched the crutches have only accomplished the routine twice today being ever mindful of needing to take it easy.

To answer your earlier question, yes I know what a cheap date is, just not had that experience.

:santawave: and :bicycle1:
