Love it Dean. Think you should look into writing a book of poetry for post hip op...you could give up the day job then :heehee:

@hiphoser Thanks for your message, there was always going to be a smooth ending, thats where the poem started. Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully had a laugh. Keep going with recovery, we will get there...

Dean

@Cathippy Many thanks, and indeed will consider getting into this new music scene you have invented called Post Hip Op. Is it rapping? Hope your recovery is going nicely nicely, as I keep telling myself, we will get there

Hi I’m so behind with everybody’s thread. At least you got some answers. I have noticed that muscle seems wasted I think from dragging limping around for so long, and it will take time to build up. I can’t believe how good the cab company have been. Your doing all the right things it’s just time now and patience which most of us are lacking in this game.

Thanks @Ldm380 and hope your day at work went well and didn't tire you out too much. Slowly slowly, yep. Physio next week at our hospital so will see how that goes and ask about the hydro pool now I know where it is, but the only session is definitely a Tuesday morning. See you there. I shall not be wearing my mankini as my new scar would show.

Dean

@Jamesdean hydro pool....we might get good pain relief in the frozen north but physio and hydro pools not !
Will probably take myself to local public baths when I can drive again
Troubled by back and shoulder pain at the moment as I increase activity and as my surgeon wants 3month use of 2 crutches...thinking thats going to get me down....and hold me back. Grrrr!
Hey @Ldm380 glad work was ok for you...sure do miss work myself.

Hi @Cathippy Actually the horsepital have said nothing to me, it was Ldm who seemed to know about it, maybe they won't let me go, who knows. I do know its a pool in a hotel and that the horsepital seem to have it one session a week, I will ask, all they can do is tell me to clear off. Back seems to take a lot of getting used to new hip so must be throwing in out of kilter I guess but only a guess. I miss going out of the flat and seeing people and the work I guess, although very physical. Spoke to my boss yesterday and I was sure he said 'Who are you?' so I said Dean, but apparently he said how are you? Still, he will be seeing me mid to end January so I can go back and have some fun, sorry, work. What work do you do?

Hi @Mojo333 Just thought I would mention today how much younger, taller and thinner you are looking. Have a lovely day.

Dean

:chuckmarch:It's all due to my new hips and being far too stretched out for the holiday food bank business.

How has your hip been this week?
Do you think things are easing some with the less aggressive approach?
Still very early days for you friend...I think by month four I was finally like "hey, this really might have worked!"
When I got frustrated...I remembered the horrid never ending bone-crunching OA hips...and that helped...all worth it.
By the spring...you will be golden!:happyfeet:

Am a wellbeing practitioner in NHS so only physical stuff I do would be putting chairs out for groups I run but my young colleagues always do that for me :) :-) (:
Only work 3 days a week but in a great team and love the job...am lucky.

Hi @Mojo333 walking and walking and a tiny little bit of exercise and stretching. Yes, still fresh in my mind the pain before, very much so. I thought I was golden already but happy to be even more golden in the spring.

Dean :merry christmas:

Hi @Cathippy I am only 3 days a week as well, in a bakery in a supermarket. The team we have is brilliant, there are at least three who really dislike three of the others so there is always plenty to laugh at. I get on really well with the confectioner/cake lady and in fact drive her in at 5.30 in the morning for the three shifts and home again as well and we do have a great laugh together, mainly taking the mickey out of each other, the other staff or of course, the customers. It did take me 7 years to find a job when I came back from France other than working as a coordinator for the Senseless 2011, so a job is a job.

As I do work at a food bank, I see many that have so little...some due to bad luck, bad decisions, but saddest of all..some who have medical conditions that drain their resources...medical conditions that modern technology has yet to catch up to.
We are so lucky that we live in an age where our bad hips CAN be replaced!

Just standing and raising my hands to the sky several times a day seemed to help some with that lower back ache (gravity is evil)

@Mojo333 beautifully put. I am raising hands and arms when I am walking and that helps. I had been doing it before op mainly one arm behind neck [looked weird but really worked] . As I was having trouble with stairs a friend suggested that I go down backwards as that would maybe use other muscles and might be easier. I did it at work and it was so funny when I passed people on the stairs with me going backwards. I would always say hello and goodbye at the same time just to confuse them even more.

@Mojo333 Regrettably its a supermarket bakery not a real bakery. I really miss the boulangerie in France, 18 years of baguettes and croissants and pain au raisin. Real bakers, three years apprenticeship. They asked me where I work if I would like to go on the bakers course, 3 days. Only 1 out of the 5 bakers I work with can make a loaf of bread from scratch without using the supermarket bread making machine. I had to say no as couldn't lift the 15 kilo bag of flour, hip wouldn't allow it.

Our local grocery stores donate bakery items to food bank often.
Much better goods than I can bake!
I bet they miss you at work...

@Mojo333 Due to some absolutely ridiculous laws, all the fresh baked bread that is left at the end of the day goes to cows and pigs. If they can find a charity that will take it then it can go to the charity but not one charity has taken it up, so how disgraceful is that????? And now, regarding whether they miss me at work? Certain section I would say yes, and for a lot of them I would say a definite no no. I have mentioned to a lot of people I work with about common courtesy, real tricky stuff like please and thank you and even the occasional how are you or a smile so I do not think they are missing me much. Don't forget, we are not in the US of A, and the customer is always wrong. Also a lot of them have another type of approach which I learnt in my time in France. its called service with a grimace. Anyway, the ones I like are missing me so thats what counts, I think. Also, have received nice messages from customers so thats good. But soon enough, MacArthur, 'I shall return', or even Arnie S 'Ill be back'.
And this leads to a general knowledge question for everyone; who said 'There is no profit in defeat'?
