Wow, a little more excitement than I planned on for this weekend. So my aunt and uncle are visiting for a long weekend and staying at my mom's house. We were all hanging out at my house on Friday night, while my mom was out with friends at a theater show that she had bought tickets for ages ago. We were all winding down for the evening and wondering if we should take my aunt and uncle back to my mom's or if she would pick them up after then show. The phone rings and it is my mom. I ask where she is and she says "funny you should ask that I'm at the ER over in Redmond". I start asking questions and she puts her friend on the phone and says my mom felt really dizzy after the show so they took her to the ER, and that her hematocrit was really low and she needed to be admitted right now. Her hemoglobin was so low that she was at risk for cardiac arrest. Scary! Long story somewhat shorter, My aunt and i hightailed it over there. I spent the remainder of Friday night and all of Saturday in the critical care unit with my mom, while they pumped her with three units of blood and figured out that she has had an ulcer for awhile that has resulted in a slow internal bleed. Ulcer is not actively bleeding any more. She is fine now and home with orders for follow up visits and to eat red meat, easy greens, and Iron supplements and proton pump inhibitor. She is doing waaaay better! So relieved!
However, that did a number on my hip. I had to sleep on a recliner chair (and thankful they had one) with none of my meds and no elevation, didn't think to ask for ice. And today I hit the wall. After picking up my mom from the hospital this morning, I am Taking it easy and elevating and icing. Not really to coherent right now, so not being antisocial, just tired.
