Bilateral TKR Nensi_New_Nees

@Thesoutherncook
Helen, should there be any doubt, WHATSOEVER in your mind about the importance of chocolate in my life, consider it gone !
Chocolate is not a luxury, is a necessity ! Any well meaning follower of all things Harry Potter knows that chocolate is also the best medicine for being attacked by a demento, which some stages of tkr could be compared to, in my humble opinion.

This afternoon we went for a tiny outing to Castle Renesse - on Sunday and Monday they run a cafe serving locally brewed abbey beers and cheese and coffee and pastry. It's set in a large park. Couple of pics showing my DH and I walking in - took one crutch because of uneven ground. Check the zoom for coordinated crutching hand in hand !

So jealous -- I can't believe you didn't invite us to come along -- seriously, it's so great that you are getting out and about - best medicine for recovery. That and chocolate!

"Pride like a new mother"
= More like group pride. ? Is there a word in English for the happiness one feels when a member of a group (usually family member or classmate) achieves something good?

absolutely lovely photos. you are doing amazing, walking straight and tall. i agree with @VW54 "group pride".

What beautiful photos. And what a lovely very outing for you and your dapper husband!

Yippee for getting out and living life with your hubby in a lovely area!

Good for you Nensi. You are a week ahead of me and I'm so happy for you ongoing success. Closer and Closer to feeling normal!

5 week checkup @OS
It took me most of the day to recuperate from my outing today to see my OS.
Appointment was at 11.10, but I was told to be an hour early for the X-rays.
Long story short, I was up and out of bed before 8am and I showered all by myself.
Alone. Well, me and the shower bench.
We left on time, 30'minute drive, my eldest driving, armed with pillows to elevate and a cooler with ice packs for the ride home. Forgot to bring Tylenol. That came back to haunt me.
Everything copacetic, on time, X-rays done and then an endless wait bij the OS. Finally got in by 12.30
In the meantime, I was elevating, up and down, walking around to keep me limber and working on my questions but also .... getting very tired.
But but bright lights - got a stellar report from OS :happydance:
- implants look great on X-ray
- extension good to excellent
- flexion good for me and 5 weeks - eyeballed at 80-90 !
- said it would improve with PT in moderation, recommended aquatherapy
- was ok with my back to work plan in 4 weeks starting 4 hr @ work and then home for remote work or rest/ vacation day
- cleared me to swim, incisions good and red (well now brownish-pink) spots no concern
- cleared me to drive !
- suggested one crutch or cane out of the house
- said I had cut back too drastically on pain meds and prescribed a step down from Tramadol for sleep time, don't remember the name at the moment.
- was happy with my gait
- wants to see me in 4 months !

So very happy with results and confirmation of BS approach, at least in results.
The only down side of the day was that it was WAY too much up time for me.
By the time we grabbed a bite to eat - also very hungry - it was 1.30pm before got me back in the car, in pain and longing for my ice packs....and the pain meds....that I forgot, face plant.

But still and all nothing a Tylenol, ice packs and a 2 hour nap couldn't help !
Rest of the day (after nap) was down time, tomorrow also DOR and PT was cancelled today because of OS delays, so next appt is Wednesday - good to go !!

Wow! Great progress report Nancy! You go girl - :loveshwr:. Get plenty of rest -- glad you are taking a DOR tomorrow.

Whoopi! What a fantastic report! Your day was certainly a busy one, but all in all you did really well for just 5 weeks! Your OS sounds super! Tomorrow, you have earned the right to do nothing. Enjoy it and pat those wonderful knees of yours! They are doing you good! You're giving SusieShoes a run!

Nensi, finally, you're back! You were really missed GF!

Now, do you have a good patent lawyer for the Knee-O-Meter? How about the App? If not, get to work on that soon, before you return to work, ok?

Wow, just look at you waltzing about cane-free, cruising up your stairs, and indulging in some connubial bliss; whoohoo! The latter is priceless....transformative and even healing. There really is so much more to life than knees!

Glad to hear the red-spots are disappearing and not first and foremost on your mind. Just...fuggedabout them, eh? Show them to the OS tomorrow and let him reach the same conclusion as Josephine.

Hmmm....yeah...the quads and hamstrings do play a huge role here on the Kneecovery Planet. Pesty things; pffft! Just try not to fret over them. They'll do what they kneed to do eventually.

@Pheebs52
Thanks GF but .... Read my 5week post a little higher! Great news :D

Hmmm....., I really don't know how I missed your 5 Week report Nensi! This is a wonderful progress report! The only blotch here is how long of a day it was for you and the missing Tylenol; ugh! Still, you recovered quickly, eh? Yay!

I forgive ya Pheebs, you have a lot of bonesmarties to keep tabs on - that IS the lot of a supremo :loveshwr:

Fantastic! See you had nothing to worry about. And now you are free for 4 months. Keep healin
