Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

OMG_!!!! I haven't logged in for a couple of weeks and I'm just catching up.........you poor thing Janet. I hope you get things sorted really soon, you really do deserve a break. Take care ((((((hugs))))))

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thanks Lisa. I agree with you 100%! Don't know what's going on at the moment though. Whatever it is, the doctor csn't seem to get it to go away. And she is good.

I became all swollen again yesterday, as I was feeling good, ankles were for the most part back to not quite normal, but close. SO I did some cooking, and took Tessa, as I have missed her a lot...

Big mistake! Here I sit, feet above head, trying to get the swelling down again. This could take a few more weeks for a definative diagnosis. The antibiotics don't seem to be doing much, other than giving me a yeast infection. Sure, just adding insult to injury, why not :hairpulling:...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Aw Janet - so sorry you are having such a rough time. Just keep taking the antibiotics. Have you tried drinking those probiotic yogurt drinks to balance the bacteria where you need it?

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Janet,

I really hope the doctors figure this out. This reminds me a lot of some of my husband's reactions. He has a rare autoimmune disease and has had extreme reactions to bug bites and things like poison ivy and bamboo (he can't let it touch his skin!). He has had to go on high doses of prednisone to get things under control. Have they done a blood test to check your sed rate? This can indicate if something autoimmune is going on.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi Rebecca. I actually think it was the prednisone that got me into this mess! it lowers your immune system. So although it was making the symptoms go away for the problems I was having with both the thigh pain, and the reaction to the sun, it has made me a target for whatever I caught from tha bug bite!

I just don't have any answers Rebecca, but thanks for your concern. I don't think I would ever dare try prednisone again for anything :hate-shocked:!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just logging in and checking up on how you are feeling Janet.
And it seems like you should be sitting there right now with your feet above your head!
Really hope this gets sorted soon.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh boy...the D-Dimer lab results came back quite elevated and I guess that MAY mean a clot! However, the infection has made all the labs go haywire...so it is still a guessing game.

I mean really, thay don't even know if in fact it was a fly bite that caused all this... I am still running a 99.6 degree temp!

Sorry to be such a drag...should I close this thread Jo/Jamie? It did start regarding the hip...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Not at all! It's your thread - you can let it ramble all over the place if you want to.
If you want to change the title, I'd be happy to do that for you. Just let me know what.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

To What? A disaster waiting to happen :loll:?

I'm open to suggestions ...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I truly just can't believe what you are going through Janet, you deserve to hear from the hospital what has caused this in the first place.
And yet they still seem to be running about like a bunch of headless chickens not knowing which way to turn.
Surely they must resolve this soon. :console:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Janet, just wondering how you are doing? Hard to believe you have to go through such an ordeal and still not knowing the cause and treatment. Hang in there.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

First of all, sure Jo, why not.

Forbesy, no on really caused this, it was a combination of things I believe, and sometimes the cure is worse than the illness. I believe the Prednisone (which was necessary) made the rest of this spiral on down.

It lowers you immune system while fixing whatever problem. Thus the rest of the mess. The fly bite is still questionable, but a good thing for them to blame, I suppose.

No one is at fault here. Just my luck (or lack of it ) I suppose.

Thanks agian all of you, for all your care and concern.

I had to see the covering GP today, and with different eyes, he told me to be patient (hmmm, something new?) as it may take a few months to get the remainder of the prednisone side effects out of my system.

Tonight, my ankles are swollen agan, though not as bad, and my left knee is TERRIBLE! If I go up the stairs, it clicks! I hope I haven't injured something with the swelling/ I am still about 10 pounds over what I usualy weigh!

I wanted so badly to run errands today after the doctor appointment but couldn't walk to do anything else. This new doc was adamant about the OS really checking the spinal stenosis as the back symptoms/spasms are really bad now.

He also said they can cause thigh pain. In any event, it has been a real painful day again...the thyroid scan came back unchanged from 2008, which is good.

So, what lies ahead? Just to be paient and wait it out, I guess...and probably wrap myself in bubble wrap :th_heehee:...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hiya Janet, just wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear what you have been through lately and how frightening it must have been and still is. I too had cellulitus once, thought they never established how as I had no obvious bite mark or anything like that, but I remember the high temp, the rapid swelling, going purple and then in hospital for 8 days on 3 IV antibiotics

So I really really feel for you, its such a scary time when your body is going through such trauma. They thought I had the flesh eating bug "necratizing facitis" I nearly passed out when I heard that!

wish I had some pearls of wisdom for you, I dont but just wanted you to know that theres another person in the UK praying for you and thinking of you

sending love

Tanny x

Re: This is my story

Hey Janet,

I'm sooooo sorry you are going through so much. Prednisone has so many good uses and then it sure does take the immune system down so that is awful.

I don't know how you manage and do all that you still manage to do. You still reach out to help everyone else when you are feeling like this. You truley are an inspiration. Please know we are all thinking of you and praying for a quicker recovery.

Take it easy and rest !! :cat-kittyandsmiley:

Re: This is my story

Hoping to hear some good news from you soon Janet and still thinking of you. :friends:
Sometimes it seems that all the setbacks are never going to end. But they will. :thumb:
(and if you use bubble wrap for protection, don't be tempted to pop the bubbles - although it is very soothing....)

Re: This is my story

Thereaputic, I would say!

Yes Tanny, I think I will live, but it is going to take a few months to return to normal. I still have no energy, but made some zucchini breads today in spite of myself. Hey, can't have food go bad now can we ...

Julie, you are so kind. I have said over and over I feel that I have so much to give back to BoneSmart for all that it has given me. I was so fearful and alone after my botched hip replacement, and had no where to turn.

And then I found BoneSmart! I am probably more like the proverbial bad penny, but can't seem to cut the tie :th_heehee:. I am still chair bound more than I would like, and now this!

I feel that everything happens for a reason, and how can I say "why me?" that this happened to. Why should it always be the other guy that has something bad happen to?

I feel less fortunate than the ones who breeze thru recovery, and more fortunate than a lot of other folks a lot worse off than me. "C'est la vie", as the saying goes.

Anyway, I plan on sticking around. I learn something from this forum all the time, and feel so fortunate to have met so many wonderful people...
