I'm ROFL!!! OMG!! Sounds like me. I really discouraged anyone from visiting me in hospital because I pretty much knew there would be plenty of things said that would require an apology or at least be embarrassing. I think it's a conspiracy! Let's trap these poor injured souls and engage them in conversation for entertainment. Haha

@beachgal Well it was kind of on a need to know basis. He was standing at the foot of my bed while the PT was running my hip through range of motion. It wasn't like, "Hey, how are the Redsox doing? I'm commando myself."

Glad you are now a hippie, and with a great sense of humor!
Rest up...

Oh and I don't remember if you remember my panicky pre-OP post about not kneeling, squatting or walking for exercise. Talked to the PA today and she said not to worry about it, the only thing she says is no running. I asked if I could run if I was being chased by a bear and she said yes.

Well , that's good to know..... I did see a bear about two years ago on the street over from mine.

Welcome to the other side @muckingabout ! Sounds like you kept your sense of humour in tack post-op. Well done! I look forward to your updates!

Hi @muckingabout, sounds like you are doing great! Hope your getting good care and minding yourself!

was having a big problem with dizziness but it seems to have mostly resolved. I'm going to try to cut my meds back, not recklessly, just down from two lortabs to one, so we'll see how that goes.

Update: physical therapist just made me do snow angels. I told him I'm taking him off my Christmas card list

Okay, some updates. One lortab keeps me at 0-1. If I am late, I can spike up to 4-5. The pain I'm experiencing when I do is pretty much around the groin area.

On walking, I wouldn't call it pain at all, maybe discomfortish. That's a kind of bruised/Charlie horse feeling, mostly south of the incision. Incision doesn't bother me at.

I'm going to talk to the doc about pain relief that won't make me loopy. I also don't want to go to NSAIDs because I'm GERD free for the first time in years.

I can walk with the walker and do stairs. I can't get my OP leg on and off the bed on my own yet. I'll discuss with PT

That's my update! Thanks

Home. Propped up in my bed. Very comfy, snoozing. Husband got me prescriptions, lunch, water and ice packs. Tramadol is doing the trick with some Tylenol. My little doggie has already jumped all over me with excitement, but I had pillows stacked up In anticipation. I can get out of the bed and back in on my own and I got to the bathroom too.

@muckingabout
I am happy to find your post surgery thread and sounds like you are doing great. Our surgeries were only off by 4-5 days so it could be nice to compare notes. Glad to read you are doing well and I hope all pain is low and progress is to your liking

Hi @grnplatebird. I'm doing nicely. Pain-free on tramadol and Tylenol on day 4. My husband wasn't happy that I switched meds right as I left the hospital but the lortabs were just too much for me. I'm home alone till this afternoon, but I can get myself in and out of bed and to the bathroom, so I'm good. My daughter stocked me up on water and snacks in case I get hungry.

I just used my grabber to put my operative leg on a pillow:)

How are you doing?

@muckingbout
Glad you are able fend for yourself a bit and I enjoy reading of your positive experience. I am able to be somewhat independent as well, but my wife is still off work this week and she is more reluctant to leave me much so I am not tempted to be 'too independent'. Monday she returns to work and then I will be way more self-sufficient. I am doing fine, thanks for asking. I will be starting a threat of my own soon, but the quick answer is that I am doing well with the normal challenges and pain that we are all moving through. I feel I am at a steady and even pace for recovery

@grnplatebrd

My husband and I are both pathologically independent and the thought of being depended is one of the reasons I put surgery off for so long. Well, in a strange turn of events, he ruptured his patella tendon in March. Seeing that it didn't kill him to ask for help, paved the way for me a bit. That being said, I did spend a few minutes today tidying up with my grabber and my walker :)

@muckingabout
I can relate. Sorry to hear the news of your husband too. I hope his recovery was as good one.
Hmm, pathologically independent...maybe a WNY thing ;) That is probably my wife's biggest fear, that I will not relax enough and ask for help enough. So far I feel that I am complying. How is your pain and energy feeling today? You sound pretty fantastic

@grnplatebrd

He just got released from PT Tuesday. He is pretty well recovered by normal standards, but he's really athletic and had been playing volleyball twice a week and basketball twice a week, often with guys half his age. He could be up to a year to get back to that level.

I'm good, I'm in bed for today and yesterday, it's fortunately the perfect height to get in and out of, I nap here and there. I'm doing better than I expected sleeping on my back. My doc allows sleeping on the operative side, but I know I twist myself in knots when I lie on my side. I have to get up once and hour or so or my butt hurts!

I'm messing with my own head now. I woke up convinced that one of my staples was pulling. I reached down and it was just the edge of the tape pulling my skin, but of course we all know how rational we are at 3am
