Most comfortable clothing post op?

I know - isn't it funny the things we fixate on? I guess concentrating on them helps make the big pictue fade into the background a little and not seem so overwhelming...

I had a huge garage sale the Saturday before my TKR (it was on Wednesday). It kept me very busy getting all the stuff together, pricing and then working that day. The next day I just about collapsed. I had been off Advil for 3 weeks prior to my surgery and on Sunday it hit me. I could barely get out of bed and walk. I worked right up to the day of my surgery so I really didn't stress too much till the evening before. It really helped to keep busy and not think about the inevitable surgery. Once I was in the pre-op area I did try to chicken out, but no one listened to me. I am certainly glad I went through with it.

That's one thing that freaked me out when I first heard it - having to go off a bunch of my meds for a while pre surgery. I have rheumatoid arthritis and they are taking away Remicade, methotrexate, plaquenil, salsalate, and possibly some others that I can't think of right now. So, while I still have them in my system to stave off the aches and pains, etc, of RA, I am trying to prepare as much ahead of time as I can - because I know how much I am going to hurt once they are gone. Having the surgery will be lovely in this aspect - then I'll be pumped full of pain meds and won't notice I'm off my meds.....

Oh yes Mary, I had no idea that the Advil did so much for me and I just took it once in a while. When I got out of bed I could not put any weight or walk on my leg. I had to hold on to the furniture just to get to the bathroom. School the next two days were really bad. I never had so much pain. I was only allowed to take Tylenol and that did absolutely nothing. I would do everything that you need to get done while the meds are in your system.

Hi Mary,
For all 3 visits I wore shorts and large t-shirts. The shorts and shirts got larger each time because I was losing weight but the shorts had drawstrings!:hehe: They just blossomed around me! LOL The reason I wore the large loose fitting t-shirts is I didn't bother with a bra. As others have said who cares in the hospital! After all the modesty is gone when you go in,:rotfl: so the way I figure it is why worry about the clothes! Just be comfortable.:D
