TKR Mireille's RTKR 4 months

Hello everyone, another activity filled morning. Cleaned and swept my front porch, did some laundry and cleaned the kitchen. So far so good, I figured since all that rest wasn't making me feel better, I'd change tactics and see. Mood and mental health has improved dramatically and my knee feels relatively well. Trying to work on my stamina in preparation to return to work on the 13th. Going to the movies tonight with hubby, getting on with life! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Yay! NORMALCY! It is not overrated. Nope. Not in the least little bit! Honestly, which one of us would have thought getting to do housework again would make us happy? anyone? Anyone?

I'm so glad you are feeling better. A movie sounds divine! What will you guys be seeing? I may look up what else is at our theater since it's a rainy day weekend. Of course, if it's sunny tomorrow, I may try to get out and trim some bushes.

Happy day @Mireille!

@L.I.T Hey Liz, yeah I've never thought I'd be excited about housework, oh what I've come to :rotfl: My muscles really need a workout and it makes me feel a lot better to be moving around.

We're going to watch John Wick since it was sold out last weekend. They have nice reclining seats and a cafe. Tomorrow, I'm going to the mall with my BFF for some in person retail therapy. It's all or nothing with me, lol

Have a wonderful day!

Ohhhhh, the recliners! I just saw that "the great wall" is playing in our theater with the reclining seats..... You've given me inspiration! Lol!

Yay! This is what I did. I was getting so low and feeling so useless and having discovered that whether I rest/ice/elevate or not made little difference, I decided just to get on with life. Obviously within reason - I don`t over do it - but the psychological effect of feeling I was achieving something had a huge knock on effect on how I felt physically. Only downside, hubby has got too used to having is tea on the table when he comes in from work!

Good to see you`re feeling so much better!

Must have been that kind of day. Laundry was on my agenda. I rode the bike for 12 minutes first as I was very stiff when I got out of bed. Going to a movie this afternoon with a friend, first time on a cane. @Mireille we must be pretty close on surgery dates. I am planned to return to work on 3/6. Moved my next PT appointments to the morning so I can try for a more normal schedule as well.

@L.I.T do it, it's nice to focus on something other than our knee :happydance:

@Cratchit Totally agree, it's a morale boost and one that was departure needed:yes!:

@agarrett My surgery was on 12/14 and I'm no longer going to PT. I took the whole 3 months out of the office but have been working from home since mid Jan. I'm really looking forward to going back to work to try and get back to my normal life. Miss my work friends, lol. I wake up a little stiff but as I walk around the house it gets looser.

Oh, forgot to mention that for the 1st time, my new knee actually looks like a knee. Does that make sense? I can see and feel the curves, the kneecap is not a bulky lump, lol

Really? REALLY? Girl, that deserves a picture!!! Give that knee a cameo :tada:

How did you like the movie? The Great Wall was quite good - especially in the recliners with my trusty ice pack! :ice:

Superstarz...lol, it's the little things :yahoo:

John Wick was pretty good. I like action movies and I don't usually doze off at the theatre but I guess I was a little tired, ha,ha..missed a couple of parts. At least I didn't snore. :sleeep:

Glad you made it to the movies. :yes!:ll have to put The Wall on my list. I think the movies are going to be my friend a couple of times next week.

What kind of ice pack do you use?, mine doest last that long:shrug:

The recliner movie chairs is the only way I think it is possible, even then still take one gel pack to use and end up a little stiff still. Saw a Dog's purpose, good if you have a dog. Had already seen Hidden Figures and definitely recommend it.

@Mireille I am planning to work from home for a while. Not sure how long but figured laptop may be on the floor as I do some exercises, or next to the bike as well. Still thinking through how to avoid getting stiff and not sitting all day in the chair.

https://www.braceshop.com/product/d..._CwgCqnzGmSHZB4bGAIg_oQIGB7DbZFkjqRoCGZHw_wcB@Mireille, my parting 'gift' from the hospital was a donjoy durasoft knee sleeve/wrap with an extra freezer pack. If completely frozen, it seems to still be somewhat cool after about 2.5hrs. Although when completely frozen, it doesn't 'wrap' very well, so I just sit it on top of my knee until it melts a tad. I use it for driving, too, since anywhere I go is 30 min to 1.5 hrs away! Certainly more convenient than lugging my ice machine... Although I might get more sympathy if I did that!

@L.I.T wow, that's a nice parting gift. I'm going to check it out. Might be helpful when I go out since mine don't last very long. Thanks!

On another note, I've been out all morning and got to wear my sknny jeans. Felt so normal for the first time in months. One day at a time and taking the bull by the horn.

Happy knee day everyone!

Wow @Mireille its so good to hear that you're feeling so much better! Onwards and upwards -in your smart clothes too!

Today has been a great day! A turning point! A miracle! I spent most of the day on my feet, went out for breakfast, shopping at a couple of stores, fruit market. Out from around 9am to 2pm. Swept and mopped my entire house, made dinner, did my exercises, phew. Actually sat down for about an hour on my recliner. Now doing a little computer work. The knee is slightly swollen but no pain. I can't believe it, just 3 days ago I was a mess and BOOM! You guys were right, it does get better! I'm a believer!

Mireille, I'm so glad you've turned the corner and have had some normalcy! You're up, out and about with no bone on bone pain.
