Hello friends! I thought I'd give an update since I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. Tomorrow is my 3 month newkneeversary. Wow, what a ride!
I went back to the office full time today. Made it through the day and now at home. A little tired but, I feel so much better!
My knee has been behaving for the most part. I'm walking well, can go up stairs with minor discomfort. I managed to get up on a chair and hang curtains. I am sleeping well, can sleep pretty much in any position. Pain is minimal, more like aching at the end of the day. All in all, I see improvements in everyday things, albeit slowly.
Still cannot go down the stairs like normal but I know it will happen in time. My ROM is still somewhat stuck somewhere between 95-100. Don't know exactly but I'm no longer obsessing about it. My OS explained that the tendons and ligaments are tight (purposely) and that they'll stretch slowly which will allow me to gain full flexion. My extension has been at 0 for some time. Walking and going about my life is the best therapy.
I'm still not in the "glad I did it mode" but when I think back to just 3 weeks ago, the difference is pretty remarkable. My energy levels are almost back to normal, I don't ice or elevate anymore, don't feel I need it. My knee swells slightly after a long day but the tight band feeling is mostly gone.
I've walked at the mall, outdoor markets, at the beach. Can clean my house the way it deserves, lol. Just feeling happy that the worst part is over. I haven't cried in about 3 weeks which is a miracle in itself!
This forum and the people here have been a godsend and I'm eternally grateful for all your support. I don't know how I would have gotten through the dark days without you guys. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I will stick around and hopefully pay it forward!
