THR Mayhip8's recovery thread

Hi @Mayhip8
I guess we should soon turn our thoughts from Hooray for Hollywood to hooray Mayhip!!! So sorry youre having other pain while waiting!! This certainly is a celebratory time for you, with birthdays and anniversaries! I found out soon after meeting my hub that he and my mom were both born September 18th. 2 of my dearest people! And we hit 31 years married March 5.
All those things, friend, are the best reminders of why you want to be whole and done, to enjoy life with those we love best.
This is probably the best time to ask about surgery #2, as the last 3 weeks were some hard work but so much more work to come. The pain is mostly gone, its more stiffness than anything. The progress of your first hip will tell you how worthwhile it all is.
The reason I hopped on your thread all that long ago was because I couldn't believe how much we had in common!
So know that across the pond there is someone who really knows how you are feeling right now and is sending every positive vibe and prayer your way!
:happydance::yay::spin::dancy:

The good news is
I had traction and massage to my neck and shoulder at the physio - I'm still in pain but I know something is being done .
I managed to have a comfy seat at the beauticians whilst I had the pedicure, I now have tidy feet.

I managed to have half a cup of tea and some cake With my friend

The not so good news is
my daughter rang from school needing to come home as she has a migraine. She's ok in bed now resting

The bad news is
The hospital called and cancelled my surgery for Friday......
Someone needs emergency surgery so I'll be given another date
Disappointing but at least it's not me that has an emergency .
Everything for a reason ....

What a roller coaster this is!
All will be well
I'm off out again back to walk in some fresh air and mooch over my day xxxxx

Ok, we dont have to head home from LA,Hollywood just yet.
@ChrissyW ? @Calgal ? What activities should we indulge in to send our sistah off in style? I have always wanted to walk along the beach in Malibu. I'd bet that every home we would see there would have a celebrity living in it!
Mayhip maybe better not take any more pain relievers because we have to have some champagne!?
And, glad your daughter is feeling better.

Sorry I haven't been such a good tour guide. Lots going on at my house at the moment and I also thought maybe we should hold off our trip till after mayhips op....but hearing the news that her op is postponed.... :bawl:

Malibu is lovely. Also Pacific Palisades. Older money if you know what I mean. I'll be back later when my gather my thoughts. Till then keep shopping!

Hello my lovelies his are we all this evening. @Mayhip8 are you ready for hip 2? How was the birthday? @ahipgma it was me who had watched sex and the city and the things a girl will do for a birkin! Strangely re the alarms mine didn't ring or anything when we went to Spain a few weeks ago. In fact, I just indicated, before walking through the scanner I was bionic in the hip area ( well I pointed to it) and she waved me through and I didn't have to go through the body scanner, which most people do at our local airport. I hope you've all begun to draw up a) a shopping list b) a packing list and c) a food and drinks list (in whatever order you prefer). There, I've set everyone their homework and shall be marking with my green pen (we can't use red as it appears too aggressive towards the students!) to check you've covered all eventualities. I've had a tired, achy leg so far this week and on the down side have just been to the dentist and need a second root canal and have an infection under an old cap! Boo hoo but after what we've all overcome, and @Mayhip8 and @ahipgma have gone through again I can get through a good old root canal!
Have a great evening my lovelies. I'm off to find my Louis Vuitton suitcase, dust off my Chanel pumps and think about our trip. What shall we eat first (I think @Calgal your Mexican burger sounds like that after drinking end of evening cuisine!) xxx

I'm sorry @Mayhip8 to read of the cancelation. It must be disappointing. I hope they can schedule you in soon. A belated Happy Anniversary on your 15 yrs of marriage. I hope you're day ends on a better note than it began. :console2:

I'm going to throw my IPad out the window! It only updates after I post so unfortunately my last post was out of date! So sorry about the cancelled surgery @Mayhip8 but like our American sisters have said, lets gets investigating LA. Malibu sounds good and @ahipgma im sure we can get a great hotel with some pool boys. We need to celebrate being us with a nice glass of something chilled in our hands and possibly a Pom Pom, grabber or birkin in our other hand because as a famous cosmetic brand said 'we're worth it' xx

Oh yes! When in doubt hunt up a pool boy!:thumb: and we are worth it for sure
Maybe in Hollywood we can go to the Graumans theater and see all the handprints and signatures of the rich and famous. We can get up to some mischief and later on when people come by they'll say hmm never saw hip prints here before. :heehee:
I would think that the best plastic surgeons are in Beverly Hills. Is there anything I could get improved?
Why, where do I begin!!!!!!
Eye job, so my liner wing wouldn't disappear in the folds.
Lip filler so our "mwah" would be more effective
Boob job----- well enough is there but a mini crane to put them back where they belong.
Never would need butt augmentation-- nuff said....
A great cut and color and skillful makeup job.
Then put on a beautiful designer outfit and take a walk down Rodeo Dr.
People will be saying wow what a sensuous swaying walk those women have. And the first one to admit our walk is because we're walking without aids well, no poolboy for you.....:snork:

@Mayhip8 so sorry to hear that your surgery was postponed, that is such a let down. Hopefully they get you in really soon!

Down today :sorry:
Made soup and the house smells gorgeous now:yay:
Bought special expensive oils to relax and calm my restless soul
Took faulty boiler thermostat to be mended and realised I can't control my central heating until it comes back repaired :loll:
Oooops !!!!
Want to run away from this pain and waiting now so.....
Ladies ! Our flight leaves as soon as @ChrissyW finishes class tommorow!
We will land the luxe jet in the school car park and have a glass of fizz waiting for her to start the weekend
I believe you can change and shower on board as you sent your luggage ahead! Clever girlie!
We shall pick @Calgal up ( I hope things are easier for you lovely ) and navigate our way across the pond landing refreshed to meet @ahipgma.
we will have a group hug and wave our girly pom-poms in excitement.

I'm with Chrissy and Calgal and we should head off for that big juicy burger to give us the energy to start our weekend .
I'd love to have a helicopter tour of long beach and LA , to the top of the Hollywood sign where we can see the sundrenched beaches in the distance.
We've got suites at The Peninsula Beverly Hills by the way !
I've decided to book a personal shopper, dresser and makeup assistant as I'm far too ridiculously unable to choose my own outfits!!!
Oh and a personal trainer to buff up my bod to impress those pool boys....
There is a famous writer and director that wants to meet up with us while we're out there by the way babes, :tada: they want to run a script by us !! :yahoo:

Practising my MWAHS :loveshwr::loveshwr::roseshwr::flwrysmile:

@ahipgma im with you for the surgery! Do you ever watch botched? Aren't those surgeons in LA? A nip here and a tuck there! I bet we could get up to all sorts of mischief. I did think of asking my OS when he did my hip if he could pull everything else up at the same time and give me a pert little derrière! So ladies, here's to another great trip and @mayhip and @Calgal you will have to keep @ahipgma and my shopping addiction under some level of control!
On a more serious point @Mayhip8 how are you feeling? Just want to sent positive vibes over and I truly believe in things happening for a reason that often we only discover later so there will be a positive behind the changed date. Have a good evening whatever you're all up to. Anyone cooking anything exciting for tea? xxx

Nothing exciting for tea---something out of the freezer alas!
I will do Brussels sprouts and bacon---tho probably the bacon cancels some of the health benefits of the sprouts
It's so darn hot here! 83 and humid!
Maybe theres less humidity in LA?
Packing flowy dresses and palazzo pants, because I finally got my second scar open to air so I'll leave the body skimming designer jeans to you ladies! Because @ChrissyW my OS just fixed my hip and did not amend my rear view. Showed my hip to my husband yesterday after I got the surgical strips off. He looked at that mess in all its glory and looked at me and said "you did good, kid" which I always find endearing because he is four and change years behind me! So not drooling for any movie stars in LA, but for the cuisine and the clothes!!!!
I love jazz and we saw Herb Alpert when he came to our city and I know he owns Vibrato, a jazz club in Bel Air where jazz notables just drop in and play unscheduled!
I also want to pick up a pair of designer sunglasses, and take a bus tour of famous stars homes, hokey though that is
I'm much more of a Frank Sinatra, Gregory Peck, Fred Astaire Hollywood kind of girl! I'm glad that we have private jet because when I really did fly from California we took the red eye and they pack you on like sardines and turn the heat up to try to make everyone sleep.
Ugh. And I'd love a good poolside massage to work out all the kinks from the surgery and get you all relaxed @Mayhip8, for your shoulder and all. I'm sure the Peninsula can accommodate! @Calgal anything else we should do.
Sitting here icing as I type. In LA the only ice i want to see will be in a tall cool glass!! Mwah to all:roseshwr:

You ladies have quite the imaginations and seem to have a lot of fun together.

@Mayhip8 sending a hug :console2: I'm sure the cancelation is still a disappointment but I agree with Calgal on Friday the 13th.
I'm not superstitious but it doesn't help that they've made horror movies by the same name. :heehee:
I guess that date would have me contemplating :chinstroke:
Hope your night is a good one!

I love jazz @ahipgma ! Sounds like a great venue. Bel Aire is a definite must on the list. You'll look smashing in Palazzo pants. I hear the chain print designs are in again this year. Gosh, they were in when I was last in LA as a teen-ager! I'm all up for lounging around the pool being attended by luscious pool boys and nipping into the cabana for s massage. My bones are aching after painting our new cabin/summerhouse in which we will put the hot tub, for all weather use here in rainy Worcestershire. @Mayhip8! Long Beach! I'm getting homesick now. That's my local- where my mom used to take me when I was a little kid! I looked like the kid in the Coppertone suncream ad, blonde and fair. Those were the days when you'd come back from the beach with tar on your feet leaking from all the offshore oil drilling platforms! I'm feeling bizarrely nostalgic at all if your suggestions. Can't wait to do tinsel town with my hipster pals!

This fantasy trip is sort of tough for me, since I have a love-hate relationship with LA @ahipgma . :good-bad: Looking back, I had an amazing childhood. Disneyland (the original one, in Anaheim) once a year, I saw Elton John and Kiki Dee live at the Troubadour, being at the Forum when Three Dog Night recorded their 'live at the forum' album and even finding me on the cover in the audience, lining up in front of the then Grauman's Chinese theatre all night to see the first screening of Star Wars, going diving for abalone off Catalina Island on new year's eve.... It was full of experiences other people read about. But LA is also, to me, totally self absorbed and the land of the fake. Everything is about image and to heck with substance. I am a very different person now than I was 40 years ago. (Aren't we all?!). Now it's all about simple pleasures. And I'm content. And bionic. :)

In the real world
I've been up since dawn
Breakfast in the park ( love a MaccyD drive through bacon roll with ketchup )

Walk in the woods

Then a swim !!! A real swim!! The first since my op!:tada:
( in a hotel leisure centre)
Can't get changed safely in the changing room so dried and drove home in wet swimsuit :loll:
( and clothes ) :heehee:
Having a wee rest prior to getting in that jet @ChrissyW see you soon @Calgal - loved hearing of your memories of different times, @ahipgma Looking forward to fun and frolics!!
Because even though surgery was cancelled it was for a reason and on balance I'm OK with it today
:loveshwr::roseshwr:

Wishing all the best for your second hip & the new pain free you - your witty virtual antics with your BS friends made me laugh when I was anxiously awaiting surgery xx
Thankyou - how are you feeling a few days along?. @KarenKat
