My op date is 20th May. Have been put on a list with a different consultant as he had spaces which means 4-6 weeks less waiting around. met him the other day and he is really nice and helpful so all systems go!

I just found your forum too. I'm having my THR next Monday, May6th. Scared doesn't even begin to describe how I feel! But I know in the end it will be worth it....I hope.....

HippityHop13, Me too - May 6, at 7:40am! Check in is at 6am - ugh. Looks like you are on the East Coast - so perhaps a couple hours ahead of me? Scared is okay. Scared is good. It means you are still alive! We will be fine!

Hello,

First post on this board, but I have a feeling that it won't be my last. First things first....RTHR on May 23rd. Now just a little background. I have bi-lateral AVN, so both hips, and had core decompressions on each side about 7 years ago. About a year ago, the right hip started hurting badly again. I knew the next step would be the replacement so I started the process. Now I hope that the left hip holds out for a while while I go bionic in the right. Like I said, they run me under the saw on May 23.

Give us a little info about yourself and how you came to need hip replacement. You will get responses from other members as well as staff.

This forum is a such wealth of info... I know now that I've registered I'll be excited to support everyone and comment... and have questions! I'm a 54 year-young gal and live in NH.

New here and I already jumped in on another thread. My surgery is wednesday morning,
1st cut at 7:30am. Fell back in July 2009 and messed up my hip pretty bad. Did not have insurance,
so after all this time I finally got approved for disability and just got medicare the 1st of May. Took
a while to get all my ducks in a row, but I am there now. Anyone else having surgery on the 15th?
I am looking forward to the surgery, as constant severe pain is not good for anyone. I will
eventually have the right one replaced also. You never know, one day your a puppy, the next day
your down. Very disheartening, I have a positive attitude most of the time, but sometimes I just
want to to cry my eyes out! I guess some of you feel the same way sometimes too. All that aside
I hope everyone going thru this has a easy surgery and recovery

Thank you tennisnut, they do not feel like butterflies, more like hawks! I am trying to focus on the after,
no pain or almost no pain. It has been 4 years, I can not remember the no pain days now, although I can
"see them". In a couple of days I hope to be giggling about this fear
