Hi Carol, sorry you are dealing with this stuff ... seems like some people get it, and some don't. I think those who don't should have their hip replaced so they will learn first hand!

Dorothy

Hey Carol

Please don't tilt...you might fall ;). Seriously, I am so sorry you are frustrated and tired. Any chance of a special indulgence to take your mind off of your hip issues? Maybe lunch with your best friend, or a massage, or a big chocolate shake? You certainly deserve some relief.

Here's hoping your tomorrow is WONDERFUL!

I am sending you well wishes and good thoughts!

Suki

Carol,
I just read your thread and I am so sorry for everything that you are going through. Mist of all, I am sorry that you do not have a good OS/GP who can get you through this.
I hope things will resolve for you and am glad your osteopath has sense.
Warmest,
Elle

Carol....it's good to hear from you. But I'm sorry you've been having some rough times. It certainly doesn't help when your medical team isn't on board with the program!!! Hang in there and be vocal about what you want and need. Remember, your recovery isn't fast or slow.....it's just.....YOURS. We are all unique in the way our bodies heal. Yours is doing it on its own schedule and that is as it should be.

Hello everyone

I promise to post more but I actually lost a long report about 10 days ago so now I have to wait until my volt charger is recharged on my brain before I can proceed.

I am needing ideas about muscle releasing. In case you do not recall I have/had a grade 3 psoas muscle tear. (It was upgraded by my osteopath as a partial tear from the bone.)

(Ir)regardless has anyone else had a muscle issue that they got muscle releasing for it. I had some before by PT but they drove their elbows into my groin for the procedure and I :beg:on the treatment table. There must be a different way. Please any thoughts and ideas will be rewarded with sunshine and blue skies.

Love

Carol,

I didn't check back through all your pages so I might be missing something, but is your surgeon aware of the muscle tear and the problems you are having?

Next ... is your physical therapist nuts???? I don't think I could handle being treated that way. Seems like a physician needs to get involved rather than just letting the PT pummel and work you to a pulp. I worry for you ... seems like a more gentler approach is needed with your situation.

Thinking of you,

Dorothy

OK everyone out of the way. I really need that sun and blue skies! :rotfl:

Hi Carol, so sorry you are still hurting. I did have the same muscle release by PT on piriformis ! It did work though.

Does heat help at all? How about massage - as in normal massage not that elbow stuff.

Hi Carol, great to get an update from you, I have been wondering how you were progressing.

I am sad for you that this has happened to you as a result of an aggressive PT. I recall that you told your OS, but I don't reall if he was sympathetic or offered any solutions.

Sorry Jaycey, I also want the sunshine and blue skies :) so my suggestion is to tag Alex to see if she has some gentle stretches Carol can do.

alexthecat; hi Alex, any thoughts ? :)

Carol, I saw this and it made me smile and think of you---I hope you enjoy it.

I hope you will get your muscle issue taken care of so you can stop beating your head against the brick wall. Take care, keep us posted, we care.

I just came over to say "Hi." Sorry about not feeling well. Please take care and not beat yourself up, You are having just a temporary set back, and that is all. I know torn muscle do hurt because I had one. For me I found working out was my solution but now I realize I really took changes is making it worse. The messages I had were very gentle around the torn area. I do need to get back to them but after hurting after the message I am jumpy to have one. I do know we both need one so gentle is on the menu. Please have a good weekend. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Hi Carol,
Hoping your recovery is getting on track, take good care and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Carol,

I'm sorry to hear that you are still suffering the effects of the muscle tear. I'm not at all familiar with this type of injury but certainly Josephine; and alexthecat; could share their opinions on this condition.

I found the first year after THR to be a really long one and part of that was because I kept trying to revve my body up into exercise mode and that was not the correct focus for me. I had to downshift into healing focus. Now as I have stepped in to the second year, my focus is on adaptation -- but that is only because my hip issue was a congenital one and my body is adapting to some rather dramatic structural changes from the implant. It's not what I'd hoped for or expected, but I cannot make my body do stuff that it's not adequately prepared to undertake. It's that darn cliche about "not a sprint, it's a marathon."

Take care,
Cardie

Unfortunately, I don't have much to say about your muscle tear and what I do have to say... well, I'm just really sorry.

A grade 3 muscle tear is a serious injury and I don't know of anything you can do to make it heal. There is a lot you can do to make it worse though. I think your best bet is to baby it as much as possible. So, lots of RICE and don't let anyone do that elbow thing to you again. (What was that PT thinking?!! :hissy:) Look for full recovery to take a few months and be very careful of re-injuring that muscle.

Sorry... wish I had something more to contribute. :console2:

I had some before by PT but they drove their elbows into my groin for the procedure and I :beg:on the treatment table. There must be a different way.
I get this treatment regularly from my chiropractor! I tell him Australia must breed chaps like him with especially sharp elbows. I too cry out and chew my knuckles while he is doing it. BUT it's not the same as - say - force bending a knee replacement. As soon as he stops, that pain stops and I actually feel heaps better in the painful muscle. I can walk out of his surgery with a spring in my step! That's the difference. When the problem began to abate, I thought he was going more lightly on me but he promised he was still using the same amount of pressure but the muscle was better so it didn't react the same. If what your PT is doing to you doesn't have the same result as I had, then it's not appropriate treatment and you shouldn't let them continue. It certainly would seem to me to be appropriate if you really have got a torn muscle because it's really only for muscle spasm.

Mad Rocker, I have thinking about you a lot lately. How are you. I do hope things are better. If I knew how to send all postive waves I could and send them your way. How about a hug friend.:friends: Take care. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Hi Carol, you have been on my mind lately, so went searching for your thread.

How are you going honey? Would love to hear from you :)

I was wondering if anyone has heard from Carol?

Would love to know she is ok!
