Hi Luisa! I read your entire thread last week, but never found time to log in and respond. I wanted to tell you that I had a similar thing happen, a muscle tear of sorts, in my right leg, early in recovery, don't remember off hand how many weeks post op, but it took several weeks to heal, but now that leg is ironically my better leg! So I hope the same happens for you, the healing does take a while, but it will not affect ROM in the long term. I do understand your time pressure due to the job interview, and will keep my fingers crossed all goes well!
I so understand your depression, it's hard to not give into it, it just descends upon us, and by the time we realize it, it's too late to prevent. Are you into supplements at all? There is a terrific book by author Julia Ross, called The Mood Cure. It's all about the neurotransmitters, like Dopamine, Serotonin, etc. She has a website, you might look it up and see if you could try some of her amino acids etc. All natural, and some of us need help, when levels get low. I take quite a few, and when I find myself feeling low, or too emotional (like now! lol) I always seem to have forgotten to take my little helpers. Mood levels are very dependent on these things, so that when we are stressed and facing challenges, we are a little tougher and able to withstand better.
I really enjoyed reading about New York, we lived - can you guess - on the Upper Eastside, in Yorkville, and my Mom had a little house in Elmhurst for a while, I just remembered the street name - Gorseline Street - that's amazing, my memory has been lousy but it came right to me! Lovely neighborhood, and like you said, so convenient to the city, for a while I lived with her, and I took the Queensboro Bridge over into Manhattan to work, until I moved. Such lovely memories, and I can feel the excitement of the city, just thinking about it. Did you happen to visit the German restaurants and stores back in the day? My in laws owned a deli on Second Ave, and for a while a little restaurant and bar on 86th Street, and I met my husband there, back in '73 ... what a fun time that was!
Ok, gotta run, I'm cooking dinner for my daughter and will bring it over later - she just had my first grandson, and he is adorable! Can't wait to go hold him ....
Best wishes for speedy recovery and that your worries will have been for naught.
