Hello Chris @dogwheels
Love the idea of a hot tub :loveshwr: hot & relaxing water are pure pleasure for me.

Didn't go to Bridge tonight, my partner rang me at 5:15 pm as she wasn't feeling well.

I could have gone up, as sometimes someone also arrives partner less.
But, with the knee only 8 weeks old, didn't want to take the chance that I be paired with a very good intense Bridge player.

Also sitting from 7-7:30 for The AGM and then play 7:30 to 10:15/ 10:30 pm.

We play right through with out any breaks.
In Bridge North & South remain seated throughout and East and West move tables after every third hand.
With my luck would have been North or South tonight.

Also had my group PT this afternoon, and felt very proud of myself, as I wouldn't let one of my friends bring or collect me. The girls have a rota, we meet for soup and sandwich on Wednesday and they work out what appointments I have during the week and decide among themselves which one of them will bring or collect me.

I took the local commuter train, as the station is about a 2 minute walk from my door and at the other end a 20 minute walk to the hospital. Got there and back on the train with the walking at either end ! :yay:

Elevating and icing now and catching up on posts.

Hello,

It is afternoon where you are and almost 9 pm here in Dublin.
Had a busy day and now resting, elevating and icing at the end of the day.

if I was able, I'd be playing golf tomorrow.
I am in a Thursday morning golf society and the weather at the moment is fabulous and I be out on the course at 9:00 am to play 9 holes.

Instead one of my non golfing friends is calling in and we will go for a short drive to a garden and walk around and then have lunch and home again.

My OS said at my 6 week check-up, hopefully back at golf November /December.
Till then Rory McElroy will have to be the Irish champion !

Still working on increasing my Flexion it's about 95-98 degrees and also my extension - currently at 8.
So, will work on that in the morning tomorrow.

Take care and hope that all of you are well today.

Cathie

@marmora Cathie, Sounds like you have had a full day! Well they say measurements can be off by 5 degrees, so your flex could be over 100! It will get there, just takes time. Sounds like you are getting around really well! Proud of you that you got to your PT and back by yourself!

@marmora
Cathie,

What a day you have had! You must be super proud of your independent trek! Also I am surprised that you would consider a card game after all that. You must be feeling pretty darn good!

Glad PT went well. It sounds like your ROM is coming right along!

I had no idea you were a Bridge player. It's a game I have long wanted to learn. I think we have some places around here where one can take lessons. I may have to look into that!

Rest well, have a fabulous evening!

Mary

Hi @marmora - Cathie
Well done you! That was great getting yourself to physio and back - I am sure that the little walks that you have been having regularly will have helped you so much in building strength and stamina.

Ha ha - I loved your dread of being paired with an intense Bridge player. I always joke with one of my friends on here that we have 'TKR Brain Drain'. We were regularly forgetting so many things, we thought the OS had taken a bit of brain out along with the dodgy knee joint!

Anyway - I am off to bed now, so will say goodnight and hope you have a good day tomorrow.

In regards to brain drain, i have an almost opposite point of view when I try.

At work, I am finding my levels of concentration and focus are much better than before I had a tkr.
But at night at home, When I am relaxing, I find I am almost a total loss. Drained and listless. Without making notes, I am forgetful and absent minded. Am forgetting what I went into the other room for type of stuff.

At work, my everyday pain is substantially less, and I can focus.
At night, I am uncomfortable and fidgety.

So. I am working harder at trying to be human at home.

Hello Dublin - this is London calling ......

Good morning @marmora - not sure if you will be up yet on a Saturday - but thought I would just pop by and say hello. Would you believe it, hubby was asked to crew at a regatta this weekend so he went down yesterday evening - I remained here and had plans for a long lay in this morning, but no, I manage to wake up early. Perhaps tomorrow?

Hope you have a good weekend whatever you may be up to.

Weather here is bright blue sky and 20 degrees.
Hoping the weather there is likewise, and you get a chance to enjoy it.
When you get a chance to behave like a normal person and not a patient, it is a taste of good things to come isnt it.

Today I fired up the weber and am making some slow cooked ribs for dinner.
American BBQ for us tonight.

@marmora
Cathie,

How are you getting on, I haven't seen an update from you for a few days. Are you still hopeful of meeting your October Bank Holiday target?

You are about 8 weeks down the road, hope everything is going well for you.

Take care

Mike

Hello Mike @IrishMike

Since I saw your post on your thread, thinking that;
1. I like peanut butter on toast
2. I like Nutella on Digestive biscuits (in the USA, close to a Graham cracker)
3. I like chopped banana on my cornflakes
But, have never thought of combining all three into a sandwich !

Reading your posts you are doing very well after surgery last Tuesday.

I'm doing o.k., getting more confident when walking outdoors and drive the car for the first time on Sunday.
My OS likes to wait until post -op week 8 for LTKR & 10-12 weeks post-op for RTKR before driving.

Flexion still not quite hitting the 100 degrees and extension between 5-8.
So, two areas to work on and may move deadline closer to Christmas.

I seem to be following & answering so many other posts, that I forget to post on my own thread- thanks for the reminder.

Take care,
Cathie

@Reebok

I can almost smell the slow cooked ribs on the barbie- yummy !

Weather here about 17 degrees Celsius (in the USA that is 62 degrees Farneheight)
Still able to eat outdoor during the day , but a little too cool for dinner time.

Hope that you were able to relax over the weekend and that the work week will go well for you.

Take care,
Cathie

Hi Janet @gr82cu2
It seems several people are also having the same problem throughout the site.
Good that you found me again, have seen you on other threads.

November 4th won't be long coming.
I always admire those that have the second TKR, as you know what is ahead of you and that can be both good & bad.

I'm doing o.k., Flexion and extension still need work and feel that although it's slow, still making progress.

Take care,
Cathie

@marmora Like Janet I haven't been getting my alerts to your thread. Such is life! I'm sure you will get to your goals with ROM. You have had knee issues since you were a teenager, that was a long time, so it will take some time to get it back to where it needs to be. One day at a time, you will get there!

@tiredwife .... if you're not getting alerts, have you double checked your profile settings to be sure you've checked all the necessary boxes?
