Hi @Minnie's knees Thank you they will look nicer when they are hand washed with a bit of dish soap and hung to dry overnight then I press them and then frame a little wrinkled as they have been in the cedar chest hope find a frame to fit them otherwise they will go to be frame but they are then loaned for display which is nice but would like to see if it will work here before doing this. Holly

I had my knee replacement on dec 1 2014.

My husband took a few more with his camera trying to show my Christmas pictures but a few more as well.

The one with the Santa and the two little angels and Santa is holding baby Jesus. This is called The song of Christmas, the two angels came on one pattern option to make either the Christmas angel or Blue Angel so being both came on one made both patterns bought them on a sale when a store near us was closing never saw them before this enjoyed them so much they have been on our walls for almost 20 years now. Also the Angle of the Sea and The blue moon angel and you can tell how much I like stitching angels and then the last one her name is The Woodland fairy she is one of my very favorites but really do not have a favorite loved making all of them. Hope I am not getting too carried away here but cross stitch is my passion thought it might be nice to share with you something that brings me such pleasure hoping to keep stitching little bit of arthritis in my hands now my fingers swell sometimes and my hands fall asleep more now so trying to get as much time to stitch as I can before it gets harder to work on them Thanks for sharing my pictures as they show how much I love doing them. Getting anxious for time to hurry and then surgery looking forward to walking hopefully stronger and more walks in our park love spending time there and the special meaning the wonderful place has for my husband and I and our love for the geese and ducks and sea gulls that we spend time with there to. Holly

@lavender Holly I really love the angels, beautiful! My neighbor across the street has a bull dog, she sets on the back of the couch looking out the big window waiting for them to get home. That is where she always is when they aren't home.

Tomorrow we are planning to go for a walk in our park then off to buy some groceries . Tonoight we watched a few of our Christmas movies the first one of my most favorite ones is "All I want for Christmas" the one with Birch who play the little girl, the tonight Fred Clause, and A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott.

Hi @tiredwife Thankyou I love angels and fairies for cross stitching the soft type of angels gentle many on our walls and many of the patterns that the lady who made these patterns designed have babies in them. I have one angel and her name is " In the arms of an Angel" she is cradling a baby in her arms , another is a Guardian angel no picture yet to show but she is surrounded by a circle of roses around her and holding a tiny baby to these are the type of angels that I love to stitch.

The lady who made the first patterns that I collected and stitched lived in Kennebuck Main she lived in Mennonite country and many of her first patterns were of Little country stores and different scenes of their life the patterns she made next angels , small children in gardens, so many love them all .

The ladys daughter now designs to. Her mom died a year ago in the summer but over the past 20 plus year I have collected most of the angels and fairies she made. I love her daughters patterns to they are along the same line as her Moms but she had lots of fairies in her selections and so many of these I have stitched or waiting to stitch love the way stitching them makes me feel.
We are saving the more traditional ones like Alaster Sims version of A Christmas Carol till closer to Christmas it was always a tradition for my family watched it on Christmas Eve every year with my family part of our Christmas eve just before bedtime still love this version the best.

Another favorite of ours "White Christmas", Holiday Inn, The Homecoming which reminds me of being small and the closeness of our family growing up. Movies like "Rudolph , Frosty the Snowman, all movies that we got so excited about to every year they were shown on television , It a wonderful life is also part of our Christmas favorites so many wonderful movies so waiting till closer for some of these to. Hoping to fit them all in we collect movies it is a passion we share always loved movies.

Think I might be slow with baking as I think maybe I am waiting till closer till Christmas so no need to freeze the cookies and bars just nice to have the smell of baking around the house makes it seem cozy. Just a few more pre- op appointments then the dentist who I really like and my family doctor who I see Monday can ask him Monday about his new little baby girl just a few weeks old now bet she is really lovely. My husband has started to take more pictures of my cross stitch he thought it might be nice to share them so here are a few more. Now understanding why are walls are so full. Holly

Hi @tiredwife Your neighbors dog sounds like our cats they knew when we would be home or maybe just waiting to greet us when we did. The people around us used to say how nice it was seeing them all in our window waiting always someone home they were such great company. I used to pass a bull dog when I was walking home for lunch from the job I had part time while going to school . He used to wait on the end of the side walk in front of their house and he really nice loved bull dogs.

Our friend has a pug dog Cosmo he likes to lay on the back of their couch to he seems to be hoping to go for a walk and this must be the way he tells them but cute how animals communicate they are so smart, they know how to say what they need just by the way the do these things. Love animals how much they can teach us. Holly

Three of these are cross stitches I made for Christmas over the years the first four are my Celtic collection and one more to go to complete this set. Royal Holiday is the queen at the bottom along with Ring around the rose tree with the four little girls dancing around the rose tree, White Christmas is the one that appears darker she is in a beautiful gown standing by a Cathedral door on Christmas eve and has little crystal icicles on her and snowflakes she is holding a snowflake and is not as dark as she appears had to get the right lighting to take the pictures she is on our bedroom wall. It seems to take me so much longer now to stitch them these took a while and stitching that I finished a few years ago. Hoping after my knee surgery to have a little more time to stitch but how much pleasure this has given me to do them. Holly

@lavender You do absolutely lovely work!
Our cats will often met us at the door, but only Emily will greet strangers. She doesn't approach them til they sit down for awhile, she just watches them.
I love 'White Christmas'. We had it on VHS but now we only use dvds.
You have a restful night.

Hi @tiredwife Hope you are enjoying your weekend and having time to relax to. Last night we watched a movie we have called "Silver Bells" it is a Hallmark movie and really like it. This morning we are watching the movie "Prancer" I love this movie really like Sam Shepard and the little girl reminds me of how I felt being little imagination loved Christmas.

Every year I would wait for the newpaper at Christmas time as one of these papers always contained a song sheet for Christmas music. " Prancer" brings back the magic for me of childhood. How being small all things were filled with magic and seen through the eyes of a little girl. One of my most favorite movies makes you remember how being small no worries and innocence of childhood memories. We have always loved movies and when the vhs movies came out we would buy these for each other as gifts.

Our collection was quite large as this is something we have always enjoyed and then when no more vhs had to switch over to dvd. Now have lots of them bought the same way for gifts for each other so always something to enjoy watching. Love" White Christmas" to always a favorite will watch it closer to Christmas . Hope you are enjoying your day now going to see our friends in our park do a few other little things and then home tidy up and then watch another movie they take you to places you love to visit and make your imagination soar. Holly

Hi @tiredwife Our cat Oscar was the one that really loved being held. He was just like a baby he loved being held he kept a close eye on us followed us around the house and just loved everybody. His sister Elizabeth liked being held my husband held her she was more comfortable laying down or sitting she was shy but at the same time very adventurous . Katie and Emily were shy to but Emily liked being held my little niece at that time loved holding Emily and brushing her as Katie did not stay around when people came . She was the tiniest in length of the four of our babies and was not comfortable being picked up.

Looking back at my niece Stephanie she always had Emily by her side and noticing now she was the one other then my husband and me that Emily liked picking her up. Still finding a way to scan would love to share the pictures of them with you on the kitties thread you started. Oscar was very into people he was very friendly and loved being close. Holly

@lavender Chester was our 'hold me now' cat. Would wait at the top of the stairs wanting to be carried down and given a can of food. He was always in one of our laps, usually my hubby's. Ghost is usually in my lap and Emily is usually in my hubby's lap. The other two only want occasional cuddles.

Hi @tiredwife Oscar sound like your Chester. He loved to be picked up held in our arms then he would flip over on his back almost like he was flying upside down. People who visited would ask why he was held this way and then showed them picked him up and he would flip loved his tummy kissed just had to be careful as sometimes it tickled and he would grab your head . He was very loving. Our Emily I called her Emmy followed me around she kept close to me and would wait in the bathroom while I got washed. Katie like to be more on her own until she was the only one and then knew she missed the others she started to want more time with us. Elizabeth would let my husband do anything with he she was very beautiful so were the others Oscar was very protective of her they were very close. Hoping to post pictures of our babies have so many but not digital. Holly

@lavender I will have to find some of the photos of our cats that have passed and post them on the kitty thread. Ghost likes his tummy scratched, but he has to hold your hand while you do it. I always have little scratches on my arms and hands from him.

Hi @tiredwife Going to try tomorrow after my doctors appointment to see how to post them . I scanned a few but can't figure out where they went in the computer not sure which place the computer has filed them.

The park was very cold today. We sat on the bench by the water that we love sitting on one of the benches and all the geese came up from the water had a little time to talk to them getting cold sitting there so back to our car. Our park is getting all ready for the Sparkles in the park to start. Lots of trees with lights, some very tall but lights are being placed on their branches, more displays being set up saw Santa's Sleigh today under one of the pavillions that usually have picnic tables and are used for large groups and a few other ornaments. Lots of boxes under the trees which will probably be where the strings and strings of lights will be plugged into . Sparkles in the park starts on December 13, the day before my husbands birthday at 5:30 so hoping the weather is good and we are planning to drive along the beautiful pathway of displays looking forward to going.

My brother called tonight to confirm the day and time for my surgery. He said he will pick us up just after 5 am and take us to the hospital. Told him how much that is appreciated and that not wanting him to have to rush as he will be going to work after that he said he would be very happy to do it. He is the greatest and know he will get us there in time.

My brother also asked if we would be coming for supper on Christmas day not even sure if I will be home by then but if not my husband will have a nice supper with them and have time with my nieces as well he said they are looking forward to seeing us and will be hoping we can come. The are excited to see us knowing they will visit me in the hospital.

One of my nieces works at the hospital she does something to do with managing the staff so will be there for me to see to. She took care last time of me as for some reason I was very cold after my surgery not usually cold but I was very cold she kept bringing me warm blankets and after the 2nd day my bed was getting quite full of blankets.

Hoping it will work alright just going for supper and a little time to visit and then he will bring us home. He is going to pull up to our door if the snow is not too high drive on and saving the walk from the front by our parking lot around the pathway to the back where we live and then down the path to our front door. With my husband I will be in very good hands and with my brothers help very good hands to.

My husband was planning on cooking a turkey and making us supper on Christmas but thinking he is going to have enough to do with going back and forth to the hospital and doing things at this time so this will give him a break from cooking and it will be nice to have time with this brother and his family we enjoy the time we have when with them.

My husband is concerned about how my leg will be feeling at this time but if we are going to eat anyway and my brother is going to take us to their house only a ten minute drive from where we live then might as well spend the time together and then go home when getting tired.

We are watching the Santa Claus parade while having supper. Recording of the parade from a few weeks ago It is our parade for our city just passing by are beautiful Clydesdale horses and a wagon they say they weight 2000 pounds each they are really lovely. Now the pipe band playing their bag pipes. My Grampas' brothers were the first members of this wonderful band many years ago he had so many brothers all in kilts and the bag pipes playing bring back memories of stories he told of these brothers our pipe band started in 1922 so many years ago they were the first people who played in this band.

The floats are beautiful even the dentist in the parade with his dental creatures, tooth brunches , and dental floss really cute and now the Grinch. Love the bands we have a few brass bands and love the music they entertain with always such a favorite part of the parade for me. Back to the parade hoping you are having a nice day and wishing you a wonderful week Holly

@lavender the parade sounded great!
I'm glad you have family that works at the hospital.
Hubby got chilled a lot after the surgeries.
You have a great evening!

Hi @lavender and @tiredwife. Hope you both are having a nice evening. I remember getting the chills after surgery. Didn't have it for very long tho.
Holly make sure you take your meds before you go to your brothers. That way the pain managed well before you get there and can enjoy your dinner and family. We can also hope for you not to have a lot of snow.
Have a nice night.
Dana

Hi @tiredwife @appaloosa girl
We really enjoyed the parade last night they were showing it on television and it was a really nice one. We live in a city which although it has grown so much over my life still just over 100,000 in population still has the feeling of a smaller city even so. Remembering during the years growing up how we would try to be down town early and find a nice place to stand.

Loved the bands and the air cadet and sea cadet bands still play. Lots of nice home made floats very familiar names the school that my husband went to high school and my high school both had really great floats. They had a float or sort of a float that was carried long and it was of Gabriel the angel large head at one end lengthwise and the dress along the top . There might have been 20 people or more underneath the dress carrying this along the parade route. It was beautiful one of my favorites.

Looked like he was flying the dress was full and hands carried along to by people. I loved this float. Two bands with bag pipes, one band from New York they came a long way to be part of our parade. They always have the Shriner's to on their motorcycles they do so many good things and help so many people they are in the malls and stores now selling their Christmas cakes for charity. A Zumba group was dancing all down the main street, our Hopewell home even participated kids who need extra care some in wheel chairs others with their buddies wonderful to see how many participated in our parade.

Cheerleaders from the high school my nieces went to doing acrobat stuff, a float with vintage pianos and a girl playing one of these pianos. So many floats so many people dancing and just making things so much fun for everyone watching. Our parade does not have the large balloons of some which are beautiful our city is fairly small in proportion to the large city that have these beautiful balloons but our city has still a small town feel .

Lots of beautiful spacious parks, still can be traveled across in less then 30 minutes end to end, and our down town. Lots has changed in our down town, stores have left, but remembering before the mall that we worked in was built that is where people went. I went down town on my day off bought material for my dolls, knew many of the people who worked in these stores as my Gram worked downtown for most of my childhood. She would meet one of us each taking turns on a Saturday for lunch on her lunch time. We would have lunch with her and then she would take us for a little look around.

My Gram worked in a ladies dress store and knew just how to put clothes together she was the lady that set up all of the window displays and looking at pictures the other day of slides she had taken of some of the displays she set up for roaring 20's with the way people dressed in those days she was from those days to and used to talk about the way bathing suits and things looked how many things have changed over the years. We did not go to the parade as it would be too crowded and that day was cold but remembering how much we loved going to the parade.

Laura Secord was a store on the main street sometimes we would get a candy cane or my Mom would buy some of the suckers they sold and we would each have on to have while watching. The feeling under our feet as the bands passed by , the bump bump bump of the drums and so exciting always loved the ban Feeling the same excitement watching it all last night brings back memories and feeling like the little girl standing in among the people with her family around her and feeling like things change but who we are just about stays the same. Holly
