Today we are going for groceries and before that hoping to go to our park. The trees are now bare river is being lowered large waterfall is fully stopped and level of water in river so low that the geese and ducks and sea gulls are standing in it and so shallow it does not come up past the top of their legs. Thinking it might be so that no one gets caught on the ice and falls through during the winter. Love sitting on the benches along the water and the new bench that was placed there just a few weeks ago has a plaque below it now dedicated to a man who must have been very loved as it is from his friends. It sits in such a pretty place under a large maple tree which during the summer offered sun and part shade to anyone who sat beneath it. The little train was taken away the other day and placed into a storage area, leaves have been mulched and other then a few people who are walking and a few dogs with their family member the park is going to sleep for the winter.
So many moments of pleasure we have spent in our park the beauty of the water which is now rushing through a few places in the waterfalls that have been opened to bring the water level down dock ramps packed away for the winter, some of the trees have been marked to be cut down just a few, but still such a special place to spend time.
We pass a man who is in a power wheelchair everytime we visit he waved and smiled at us the other day thinking he looks like he is really nice. He goes for a walk with his dog she is lovely she has a feathery tail long hair reddish beautiful large and graceful she walks with him proudly probably remembering the days when her kind family man walked on his own. She stays with him he goes a long way with her can be seem going end to end in the park and noticing when we were driving one day they come a long way off to visit this beautiful place.
He moves along quite steadily his dog is lovely she runs ahead of him and during the warmer weather he met up with someone who helped his dog go for a swim and then fastened her up to her leash again for him and then on their way they went. Life can change sometimes maybe he walked in this park before the need for his wheelchair and then maybe something happened to change that but he still comes and noticing he has a gentle face he smiles as he passes.. He must remember seeing us to and notices my husband helping me along. We all have bumps in our lives but remembering we all have times that things may be difficult you can get caught up in the hard times but looking around we all get by in our own way.
I have been lucky loved and cared for some things have changed but so many wonderful memories The loss of someone you love makes it only more apparent how much we matter how much they matter and only by loving you feel loss but at least you had the chance to love. Counting my blessings although sometime we loose sight of just how much we have to be thankful for so many things that live gives us. My brother took a picture of my Dad one day when he was visiting him at the home up North. It was at the time I was very sick and did not get to go to see him for a few days as I had been in the hospital the night before and told to stay home as I would be contagious or might pick up something else. There was a bad flu going around and my brother told my Dad that I was upset at not coming just could not stop being sick so not able to go. He told my Dad he would like to send me his picture and I now have the picture of my Dad on my screen.
With all of the trauma my Dad was handling his face is lit up he never worried about himself wanted all to be well for everyone else .This picture of my Dad sitting on the side of his bed his hand reaching up waving and his wonderful smile makes me sad to see as he is not well but his bravery and unselfish strong kind nature brings me strength . If he could handle all he did during all he had to go through so can I knowing he will be with me during surgery as he was last time in spirit .Knowing with all he taught me and his positive way of looking at life that I am so fortunate to have the memories of him but some are hard to remember
How he taught me that it was important to be true to myself. Dads have a way of letting you know how much you mean mine did. Not in the way of hugging but each thing he did now understanding each way he was always looking out for all of us and missing him so much with all that has happened in my life nothing has never hit me this hard. Looking at his picture hard to believe this wonderful man is gone. We were all equally important to him he did not play games with favorites. He is gone not in my heart how hard to have to loose people we love wanting his picture on my screen. My husband says he could tell how much he worried about me and how often my husband will be talking and mention him they used to like to talk about so many things they shared. How much my Dad meant to my husband to as he always says my Dad was like his Dad he could talk to him . Wishing I could have protected him the way I tried but had no say to make changes for his final months but resistance from family members who did know he deserved better.
Our neighbor was taken to the hospital the other day we saw his wife standing outside when we came home for a minute before picking up our medications she looked so frightened and feeling for her my husband went over to see if we could help did she need a ride to the hospital before he reached her she left in the ambulance and hoping for good news thinking it was our friend who delivered the pizza box to our car a few weeks ago and hoping all is well. How much we all matter know my Dad had a good life and so happy to have known him guess that is the best we can ask for as we all matter to people and they matter to us. Holly
