Hi @tiredwife The chair was very appreciated by myself and other people there . Some of the people who were voting were older and stood very patiently but very happy to see the arrival of chairs . Kids are funny and the innocence of the things that they say and the way they say them is funny . You must have a lot of fun with your little grand son around he is so cute and I am sure you really enjoy him. Holly

@lavender Holly I stopped babysitting him the first of September. I need to finish the remodel on our house if we ever hope to sell it and get out of here. I won't get to spend as much time with him. He is in preschool and they found a good daycare that takes him back and forth to school, is reasonable, and is willing to work around my daughter's strange work schedule (she's an RN in a hospital). I saw him today and he told me he is sick (coughing), He said 'I have cough and fever!" and then he had to show me his mommy's new fingernail stick on gels, and his new bed. He is a cutie!

Today we went for our Saturday morning breakfast at our favorite restaurant and went early before it got busy. Coming home we stopped in for a car wash and then decided to see if they had time to do an oil change on our car so that it will be done before surgery date. We asked them to check the undercoating on our car as it has to be checked every year on our warranty we purchased and they found places that needed to have more applied so one more thing done and then we went to the movies.

We went to see the movie "The Best of me" such a beautiful movie but one that needed kleenex did not bring any . The story was really well acted and very moving. Very emotional in parts but very loved it so much. Noticing that the same writer wrote other favorites of mine Message in a bottle, notebook, and more all movies I love. My husband liked it to but not the whole movie not wanting to spoil any of the movie in case anyone wants to see it and strongly recommended but hoping that when it comes out on dvd we can purchase it would love to see it again. Love story most of the women were crying and I was to but so lovely a movie and one of my favorite types. Holly

@tiredwife I think without having the amount of time needed to babysit you will have more time to get to be with your grand son without having to be his baby sitter to . I understand how hard it is to try to do both as when my brothers kids were small we were automatically expected to baby sit when ever they needed someone and we did it. Hard to fit it all in when we were working and sometimes I saw them more then my own husband as working we did not always have schedules that connected or the same days off so when we did we were as one sister in law liked to say booked to fill in the times she needed us we did what we did for my brother but hard to say no.

We did not want to do anything that would stop seeing them but it became more then we could do and no longer by one appreciated but expected and this made it hard. When I worked in the office at the store I had to be there by 6 pm and many nights still waiting for sister in law to come and take the kids home so it made things very uncomfortable ended up saying we could not do it as it got out of control caused hard feelings and wondering why we waited so long to say no. After work I went to help out for my brother so he could sleep and just felt like it was the thing i did.

Needed to get home and do my housework and stuff and nice to have something ready for supper but no time. Working overnights we were often asked to look after them in the morning and not getting any sleep their friends said no to as they had the same thing happen to them. Hard to be put in that position did not want to cause hard feelings but with 2 out of 3 families thinking we were open anytime to babysit it was not fair. My other brother did not very often and his kids were so easy to manage would have did more for them as they behaved he was so tired when they were small and between his wife and my brother they balanced it between them but would have helped them as they did not expect it and would have appreciated what we did. This way you will have quality time with your little guy and get to be his grand parents enjoy your time together as this time will be very special to both your grand son and you and your husband to. Understanding babysitting helps but not always the easiest for everyone. I am sure your daughter appreciated your help but good that he is in a nice daycare and meeting other kids to. Holly

@lavender Holly I really don't know if I was appreciated or not! It's been 3 1/2 years of free babysitting, sometimes some very long hours. They need to stop thinking we will always be there to pick up the slack. Financially and physically we can't do it anymore. I was baby sitting him at the same time as trying to care for hubby after his TKRs and it about wore me out! She was in school for her RN and graduated the month of the first TKR, so now she is making good money.

Hi @tiredwife Hope you are having a nice day. My nieces and nephews are all past the age of babysitting now. The youngest is 19 my youngest brothers son. After we stopped babysitting due to not having our car and working nights and my youngest brother lived close but still around 15 minutes away so babysitting at night was not an option anymore. During our babysitting days so afraid that we would fall asleep as we had worked all day from an early start waking up at 4:30 so not totally aware as we were tired. As we could not babysit anymore with working nights she decided that being the older nieces were at an age that they could now babysit and so when she needed someone to watch the kids she had them do it for her. My brothers did not expect a problem as they had never babysat for her before and put their foot down when they saw the way she treated their girls who thought they would just have to keep an eye on the kids.

They were not happy and very upset that they were expected to not only babysit the kids but do her housework while they were there to. We did not do her housework as we were not even getting time to do ours and she would have no chance even asking this. She is quite demanding not sure how a guy like my brother found her as he is very easy going and she is the opposite. Upset that my brother did not step in but he did was not wanting to upset the boat getting mad at her so he let her do what she wanted.

She did not think she needed to pay for the babysitting as they were family and she thought that part of being family was enough reason for her to ask. My sister in law did not believe in the word no and she felt that things should be negotiated talk it out with them drove me crazy and made babysitting very uncomfortable we did say no although and she did not agree with it. My brothers and their wives found out what was happening and the days of babysitting ended. It was different though hearing their point of view about babysitting as when we did it they did not see a problem. No problem with helping out but when you decide to have kids part of having them is being responsible for making sure you have plans for what to do when you need someone to look after them. We would have been more then happy to help out off and on but not on call all the time.

This is how hard feelings start and my youngest brothers kids were baby sat so often by either my sister in laws mom or by my husband and I that when they visited they actually thought that she was leaving them again no worried about being with us but probably wondered why she did not stay home with them and started crying. Not babysitting so she could go to work but so that she could go out and have time doing things she wanted to do not fair

. Not wanting to do anything to hurt my brother so we did it. One day we were talking and when my niece mentioned that she thought it would be nice when her sister started to have kids we would be so nice to help look after the babysitting I said please do not count on us this time we have had our turn. Not trying to be mean just setting things right from the start. My husband and I missed birthday reservations, anniversary dinners just babysitting for a few minutes that turned out to be full nights or days did not want to start trouble now much wiser. Holly

@lavender Holly I know how you feel! I was watching him 5 days a week and then they would want to go to a party or something on the weekend and expect us to watch him then too. That was bad enough, but our son in law would always find something to complain about. If he fell and I picked him up I was turning him into a 'sissy boy', If I played with him I was winding him up too much and should let him watch tv so he would take a nap, if I let him take a nap then he complained that he would stay awake too late. Never could please him!

Hi @tiredwife Happy you have time for yourselves now and they were lucky to have someone who cared and helped out so much. Nice that you can have time to do some of the things you have been trying to catch up on and hopefully a bit of time to relax. now time to spend with your husband and hard to spread yourself in so many directions. Hope your husband is doing great with his knees and good to have had you taking care with him and now a little more time for each other. Happy no more babysitting for us the brother that had the best kids to babysit did not ask more then a few times and these were emergency times and his girls were so nice to be with that we would have happily helped more then asked but thankful they are old enough to take care of themselves and at an age they could have their own families. Holly

Thinking of You,
[Bonesmart.org] Lavender's getting a new left knee for Christmas

@lavender Holly, It will be kind of nice when hubby goes back to work (they will let him set his own pace) so I can have the house to myself. Haven't been able to get much done with him home, I usually work better by myself. There are a few things that I will need his help with though, but when his knees are doing a little better.
His left knee is great, right knee still gives him some problems, but it is getting better.

@new knee in June :friends: Hi Diana Thank you for the nice wishes and the Happy Sunday heart you sent is beautiful thanks so much such pretty colors . How are you doing and so nice to receive your post. Today was such a nice day and we enjoyed our walk in the park. My first knee surgery was just about a month before yours so we have been on this journey together for more then a year and how much has happened in that time. We should both be proud of how far we have come and your Rom is amazing happy that all worked out so great for you. Happy that I had my surgery to now getting anxious for December to hurry up and come not because of the snow but because my surgery date will be here and then a nice new knee to go for walks in the spring.

Hope you had a nice birthday hard to believe how fast October is going by seems like just a short while ago the kids were getting out of school where does the time go? Did you get your house decorated for the fall and hoping that you are not having rain still . The leaves here have started to change so much and some of the trees over the past week have totally dropped all of their leaves. The colors are very beautiful . Happy to hear from you and hope you have a wonderful week. Holly

Hi @tiredwife Hope all goes well when your husband returns to work and that he is given time to get used to being back after his knee surgeries. Hoping you can get the things around your home taken care of that you want to do to. I try to do a bit each day even if it is wiping out sinks and cleaning the toilet and floor one day and dusting another but sometimes do it when my husband is doing other stuff as he likes to think that I am not pushing it too hard and usually says maybe it would be good for you to take a break. He is very considerate and helps out so much and actually a great cook so he helps with lots of the cooking so he will manage fine when I am in the hospital but somethings just have to be done and dust will not go away on its own fortunate i am not super fussy but like just the same for things to be clean and wanting to have things caught up before surgery. Not as easy to do some of the household things after having surgery so doing a bit of the heavier things now. Birthdays all finished in my family for now till December and then they start again. Hope you have a good sleep tonight Holly

@lavender Holly, Steve is a better cook than I am so he does a lot of the cooking. He likes to cook more than I do. There is another guy that works with my hubby that had his knee done in April he has been back to work and does nothing but sit around. My hubby would be bored just sitting around. We have a lot of birthdays, hubby, my brother his wife, hubby's brother are in October, Our son in November, Daughter and grandson in January, Sister, brother, son in law in Febuary, Daughter in law in March, etc. Too many birthdays. You sleep good tonight.

Hi @tiredwife My husband likes cooking to I still like to cook but not as much as he does and he makes the neatest meals. I really loved baking and baked a lot but now really not anymore. I baked for company and when we could eat sweet things but not missing the baking anymore as this gives me more time to do my cross stitching. We used to buy for everyone but now just each other and a few birthdays everybody found it getting expensive and so did we so we have as of this year cut back. My husbands birthday is in December on the 14th and a niece has hers on Christmas day . Now just sending a card and a few tickets in it as she is now in her 20's and working and not sure what we would buy if we still did as the things we could buy are above our spending limit.

Hope you have a great day and raining here so decided after the errands and appointments we came home put on my nightgown watching a movie not feeling up to par today and having a nap in a little while. Holly

@lavender We usually only give gifts to our kids, their spouses, & our grandson. Steve went to the dentist this morning, he has an infected tooth, got antibiotics and if that doesn't take care of it they will have to take it out. We aren't doing much today, had a friend with us all weekend. For Christmas I make them a Christmas cake (dates, raisins, candied cherries, brazil nuts, walnuts), they are a pain to make, but my son would be heart broken if I didn't make it for him!

@new knee in June Hi Diana your porch with its mums and pumpkins and corn stalks looks so nice and thanks for sharing your picture to. I love the fall probably my most favorite season . Maybe it is because the fall is when my birthday (and your birthday to) is but spring is a favorite of mine to. Leaves are turning fast now many have fallen but the air is fresh and the colors are beautiful. I really like walnut to and almonds to. Hope you are having a nice week and how fast October is flying by. Not too much longer your will need to start to plan out what you will be doing for your Christmas decorating where has the time gone. Hope you have nice weather for this week and a chance to enjoy the fall colors so beautiful. Holly
