Hi
@marmora Nice to receive your post and hope you had a great time at the wedding. Today is quite a bit cooler and we decided to take our air conditioner out last night and just have the window open cooler but feels cozy sleeping better.
Yesterday we had medical appointments so we both went to the doctors. My test for the blood sugar came out much lower and the graph of progress looks like a mountain coming down the dietitian still wants more but my doctor said he is very pleased has not been this good for quite a while he said he is happy with my results. My blood pressure has been pretty good all along but now too high so a new medication prescribed happy to see the ones he gave me before cut down so not as much but this one is stronger and risks if dose missed that I could be at risk for a heart attack or stroke so being very careful not to miss any.
I mentioned to the nurse we really like who takes care of us before our doctor comes in about my husband having a blood test upstairs this morning at the lab there and telling her hope he makes it back in time for his needle today. While sitting at a picnic table the other day we were met by an older woman who wanted some advice on what to do she said she noticed while walking on the other side of the river that there seemed to be a small animal dog or cat caught on the large branch in the water and wanted to know
who to call.
With all of the heavy rain and the high levels of water on the river the waterfalls flowing more like rushing water then its usually calm water movement logs and branches were swept over the falls only the large piece almost like a tree caught above the falls in the water over the other side which was at the time of the high water covered in water. She noticed that something was caught on the log and she was so upset looked like a cat or dog had been caught and drowned. She wanted to know how to go about getting help and asked if we knew who she should call she was visiting from a town just a few minutes away on the outskirts of our city and not sure who she should tell.
We sat talking such a nice woman probably about 80 years old or so very spry she was walking her little dog who was very patient and she sat with us for quite a while. We suggested the parks department and then so asked if the fire department might be willing . We have a fire station down the end of the park by the other bridge and only a few minutes away so she was going to stop by there and talk to them on her way home.
We had noticed the fire man in the park just a few days before combing the river up and down the side we were sitting on up by the larger waterfalls and wondering that day what they were searching for. We wondered if any one of animal had fallen into the current of the rough water and this may be what they were searching for.
The lady was very nice to spend time with she sat on the picnic table bench with us and we shared our love of this park and how much we enjoyed being able to share in its beauty and our love for our feathered friends we talked about the turtles that we saw last summer and she explained how careful you need to be not getting to
close so strong she grew up on a farm and how strong they are.We talked about the feeling of appreciation for being fortunate to have this beautiful place in our city and how nice it is to go freely there and just bask in the relaxing moments we have enjoyed so much.
The lady talked about her love for Elvis and how much she enjoyed a tribute she had been to the night before at a church somewhere near where she lives and how she loved him singing she was lovely.
I will call her my friend as she is someone that I would love to meet again she was so refreshing light at heart and the little dog was her nieces dog and when her niece moved away she offered to take him home and take care of him for her and he is now part of her family. He was relaxed and had a red harness and I think he is a Jack Russel terrier.
Talked a while over an hour and just as she was leaving she and I thought of something else to say. Reminded me of how my Mom and I used to talk before my Dad died and she changed so much she had been lovely to.
She left to go to the fire station and before she went we told each other we hoped we would meet again she enjoyed the talk to and expressed that so many pass by she like me said she always tries as they do to say hello just a hello in passing some people may never get a hello or acknowledgment they are even there and I agreed even if they do not reply back she and I say it anyway what does it hurt. She is someone even for just that bit of time I felt like I knew she was someone I am so happy I had a chance to meet and hope to see her again reminded me of the closeness I shared with my Gram to loved her and she was wonderful missing my Dad so much he would have cared to.
Yesterday we went to the park looking over the river to where the large tree like shape was in the water we noticed that the shape we saw the day we sat with the lovely lady was no longer visible. An act of kindness she cared to give this little animal a chance to be buried or at least taken from the cold water and maybe someone who was missing this little cat or dog will have closure sad as it is to know it is not lost and starving but at least knowing where it went. She said sitting with us and her little dog and looking at him that she would want this for him someone who cared that he was at least found and wanted to do the same for this little creature so would I.
Emotional how it made me feel and having to be careful more with this my health needs me to be careful but each day gives us some kind of gift not always something we notice or understand but each day is a gift no matter how much we can sometimes get bogged down in our worries and each day maybe we have given a gift to someone else not of money or something we have to wrap up but maybe the gift of our time and love and care is the best gift we can receive my husband is my gift the best I could have wished for my chance to have been touched by the love of my Dad and his patient way strong but patient and times with my family that I shared and waking up each day even if you are not feeling well and sharing in the life that seems to last only a little while but making the most of what we can of every day we are blessed. Sorry for the really long post tried to edit it a bit but this is what is left. Hope you have a wonderful day Holly
