Sounds good, getting those staples out, one more thing off your checklist towards a totally healthy knee. Hope you have your pain under control now. Question, ironing, do you do a lot of ironing? The only time I iron a lot is when I was quilting and now I don't make many quilts at all because of my arthritic hands. When I wash my clothes I put don't put the in the dryer, but I take out of the washer and hang on hangers and then either hang outside to dry or hang on a rack in the laundry room. No wrinkles then. I try not to buy things that wrinkle either.

Yes, staple removal day is kind of one of those early "events," isn't it?

Hi! ladyj, you need to post more here on your thread so we are able to respond directly to you. I am finding out more about your recovery from your posts in Nyland's thread. Of course, you are free to post on other's thread anytime you like, but it's truly helpful if you also post on your thread so we don't hi-jack another's in order to post to you.

You are so right about dressing in the morning---it's really the first exercise period of everyday. I had to rest afterwards before I even had the energy for a little breakfast. It really doesn't take much effort to send us to our bed or lounge chair for rest, elevation, and icing----and maybe a little nap, too.

I'm sure you enjoyed your brief trip out for tea and a crumpet. It's nice to do something on the "normal" side once in a while to help our morale.

You seem to be doing very well and sound very positive. Also if you get a chance, create a signature and put your surgery date in it---it's every so helpful to us mods. Here's the link: How to create a signature
Take care of yourself, keep us posted, we care.

When I was in hospital I was on oxycontin, oral morphine and paracetemol. I came home on co-codamol and oral morphine as necessary. Now I am feeling "spaced out" and sick a lot of the time and I am wondering what would be a sensible regime now I am three weeks out from surgery.
The pain in the knee is not too bad at all, but I pulled some muscles at the top of my breastbone when I was first walking on crutches in hospital, so my upper body strength is not as good as it should be, and it hurts to push myself up or wriggle around in bed.
Today I have taken 400gms of Ibuprofen and two paracetemol, and I am keeping the co-codamol for bed time.
Any thoughts folks?

I will tag Josephine: for you, to answer your question about medications.
Sorry about your pulled muscles in your breast bone, ouch, it will heal with time.

i'll help before Josephine gets in here cause I know what she is going to ask. Need to know what strength and frequency you are currently taking the meds. Once we know that info then someone will be able to help you.

Quite right, Michael! Apart from which, the oral morphine would have been the thing to drop and stick with the co-codamol which is only paracetamol with a smidgeon of codeine. I don't think that's any good for your pain right now. Instead of that, you should have a chat with your GP and see if he won't prescribe you either codeine 30-60mgs or Tramadol 50-100mgs, both to be taken with the two paracetamol 4-6 hrly. You're never trying to tell me your pain scores are way down to 2-3 every day?

I went to the hospital today to see the physio, and she is so pleased with my progress that I don't have to go again for three months, just continue with the gentle exercises. At 6 weeks I have 120 degrees of Rom, and I am walking well and without a limp. I can't really believe it.
I heard so many stories about exercise bikes and pool exercises, and I have had to do none of it.
I can only conclude that I had a very good surgeon, and that I have been very, very lucky.

Woohoo Jess. Your recovery has been absolutely amazing. Your surgeon is an excellent one, but you have also played your part in such a wicked recovery. And all this at only six weeks. I am very envious and also very happy for you

You are all very kind to me.
I think I just have a tendency to heal fast and well!
As well as being a determined cuss!:happydance:

I actually slept well, didn't get up to go to the loo in the night, and woke up not feeling spaced out!
Seems like a good sign!:happydance:

Hooray! for a good night's sleep and waking up bright eyed and bushy tailed! Have a really good day.

Sounds like things are going great. Keep it up.

I am doing so well at the moment, and my new knee is working like a dream. I find it hard to believe really. It is as if I have been fully restored to my old self, and I am not quite 12 weeks out from surgery yet.
I walk about a mile everyday and I am also doing most of the house work.
We are going away for a few days next week. I am taking ice packs just in case a lot of walking causes any swelling or problems, and also I won't be able to sleep all morning like I do at home.
Whatever, I am a new person compared to my pre op state, so even if I do have problems I am still better than I have been for eleven years.:happydance::dancy:
