A Happy New Year to you too, Jess and that's an excellent New Year report and I couldn't be happier for you. You have done extremely well and Mr Palmer sounds like the bees knees. Hope he enjoyed his wine :heehee:

I eagerly await the pics of your new grandchild next month. How exciting. Our new grandbaby is expected the month after, so exciting times for the both of us.

It is wonderful to hear you are OK.
Mr Palmer gets 5***** in my book.
He's given me my life back.
Great to hear we are both looking forward to new grandchildren. When I have been reduced to resting on the sofa due to stiffness, I have been making a baby shawl, it was so complicated it nearly went through the window several times!:hairpulling:
I have finished it now and I am going to give it to my daughter at her baby shower on the 20th.
Keep smiling.
We have missed you.

hi everybody hope you are all doing well. as for me i had a scan 16th jan, dont know the results yet but after numerous phone calls trying to get a follow up appointment , i have managed to get one on the 11th feb, origianally they gave me a date for april 2013 but i told them that was not good enough as i was in pain and have been since october 2012. as i have said before i feel let down with my aftercare ,this will be my 4th visit since the end of october 2012 and it is a 120 mile round trip for me to get to this hospital so it is not cheap and i have to get someone to take me. i do know when you have tests you will have to wait for results but for me it allways seems to take 5 or 6wks. the technician who done the scan said there was an abnormality on my latteral side but was not in a position to say what could be done as that was up to the consultant.we will see what happens soon i suppose. enough of me hope you all have a great day . john

I have been away from here for a few weeks because my daughter has been having a baby and it has taken a long time. I have been staying with her, and I will be going again next week. In the end she had to be induced and after a long and difficult labour she gave birth to our lovely grand daughter Bronwen Joy, weighing in at 7lbs 12 ozs.
Now I have long spring walks pushing her pram to look forward to, which will be good exercise for my knee!

She's a beauty. And she'll be one of the great joys of your life.

CONGRATULATIONS JESS, what a beautiful little girl and lovely name. So much to look forward to when theres a new baby in the family. Enjoy

LadyJ, she is absolutely precious. Enjoy those walks this spring and they will be pain free also. The best to you and your daughter and family

Jess, your new little granddaughter is absolutely beautiful. Many congratulations to you and your family. What pleasurable years you have ahead of you, for grandchildren give you such pleasure. Happy days

When I joined Bone Smart we were planning a trip to the West of the USA which as my TKR was delayed had to be postponed. Well................we went...........and now we are back. It was completely wonderful, and even after flying for 9.5 hours and being on a coach for a large part of two and a half weeks, my new knee didn't make a murmur. The driver always helped me down the coach steps, and it probably took me a little longer than others to do some of the walks, but really I had no major problems at all.
So ten months out from having the top of my tibia completely re built and a TKR. I am one happy bunny.
Here we are about to fly over the Grand Canyon:

That is awesome ladyj, thanks so much for sharing with us, and taking the time out to let us know how you are doing.
Gives the rest of us still waiting in the wings someday a glimpse of hope of things to come.
You look wonderful in your picture.
I wish you continued success with your knee and all that you do.

What a coincidence, Jess ladyj - I was only thinking of you last night and wondering how you are! Great minds think alike (or fools never differ :heehee: )

Wonderful to hear you did your trip after all this time. And the fact that your knee held out well. So happy for you. Your photo is lovely. Any more, would love to see them?

It's ten months for you and nine months for me. My, how time flies when you're having fun :heehee: Just don't know where this year has gone, or going. But all is good, that is the main thing.

Sooooo good to hear from you. Stay in touch

Awesome that you were able to do your trip and enjoy it! Great picture of you and hubby! I'm with Kathy, Wed love to see more! :)

Great to see you and doing so well! :yay:

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I hope I am some encouragement for those still "looking forward:eeeuw:"
to surgery. I can only say, go for it, because in my case the results have been absolutely amazing. I find it hard to believe sometimes.
So glad to hear you are still doing well Kathy, and having so much fun by the sound of it.

Even more good news, although I really don't want to sound as if I am gloating to anyone who is still having post operative troubles.
I decided that I really ought to get out properly hiking again, because although I have done some short walks with a walking group, my husband and I haven't done the out on our own, ordnance survey map thing yet.
So we did.
The plan was to walk two / two and a half miles, have a pint in a pub, and then come back by an alternative route. Nice and simple four to five mile walk.
We didn't need to look at the map too carefully, we had done the walk before, (fifteen years ago..........) we could remember the way.
Well....................we are idiots!
We soon found out that we were following the path we meant to come back on. That didn't matter, we would come back the other way. We got to the pub, we had a pint each................ very nice.
We started the walk back, didn't look quite right but we continued............... later picked up the path we should have been on, had gone slightly wrong, but hey, no harm done.
Got to the end of the track, looked at map, turned the wrong way, walked along a trail for over a mile, realised what we had done wrong, walked back, found trail we should have been on and got back to the car.
So what should have been a five mile walk turned into a seven mile walk........................and I haven't done a distance like that for 12 years!
The new knee was fine...............the rest of me was completely seized up!
I was moving like a cyborg....................oooouuuuuuccccchhhhh!

Stiff as a board yesterday, but I did another three mile walk today and the knee is still not complaining.
That's a miracle if you ask me!

How brilliant is that. Well Done. I love hearing about miracles and news like that spurs us all on. Its what we all want to achieve isnt it after TKR doing things we used to do and maybe learn a few things too.
