Kneeling

You are making great progress and into the second month of recovery. This usually where you begin seeing a difference, have a little bit more energy and sometimes get majorly bored.

Has anyone tried melatonin to help with sleep? I spoke with the pharmacist and she said it was safe. Any input? @Josephine or others?

Melatonin is safe. I used Tylenol pm to help get my sleep rhythm back. You can read a few post op threads to see what a few others have done. At 4 weeks I was able to sleep on my side for a few hours a night, so that helped me. I was able to put my left leg over my RTKR to sleep. Some people use a pillow between their legs to sleep on their side.

I sleepon my sides as well as my back, Im just topseturvey

Sleep is usually difficult after a TKR, so sleep any way you feel comfortable - sleep where you can, how you can, and when you can.

Melatonin has been used to aid with sleep. If you have any medical problems always clear it with your doctor first. Benadryl can also aid in sleep. It is included in Tylenol PR or Advil PM.

Wonderful that you got a good night's sleep! And wow, what numbers you have! Less strenuous exercise is definitely more gain!

So its the end of the grading period which requires me to complete report cards and do conferences. I have been conferencing since this morning and I am worn out. I still have a handful left.

Boy, are you going to need some rest this weekend!

Would not have thought sitting making phone calls and paperwork would be that tough.

Hey, Dadman! It's good to read that you're doing well with sleep and ROM! I also had to enter grades in the on line gradebook, do report cards and have phone conference while in the hospital. A teacher's work never stops! I had to be careful with my meds while I was doing this work and had someone read the percentages to me while I entered them. I couldn't focus enough to do both at the same time. Anytime focusing is involved it's tiring.

My hospital nurse said I was fine to get back on my Melatonin schedule before bed, but did recommend that I take it like an hour or so before I take my night time pain meds (Oxycodone) so that I wouldn't have a severe jolt of sleep meds right at the same exact time. I've been fine with taking both.

Well the weather was perfect to apply lawn fertiliser Saturday morning and then went to pharm to fill script. Was tired in the pm but was able to join worship group for practice, first time since surgery. Due to increased activity am icing through the night. Feeling more normal.

I'm glad you were able to do some normal things. Just remember to keep a balance between activity and elevation to help with any swelling.

Normal is so good! I terribly missed SS and church when I was laid up and getting back was a huge blessing. I'm so glad that you are feeling well enough to do it!

Seven weeks
