clarabo, sorry I didn't answer your question about the timing of your post op check..

My surgery was mid Nov and my surgeon saw me at 4 weeks post, because it was close to him taking leave. Normally, he would have seen me at 6 weeks post.

Every OS has different protocols...

Poppet. Is it like holistic therapy that you specialise in....... do you find them really helpful .?.

Poppet. Suppose every hospital has different ways of doing things.would just be better if it wad sooner so that I could be reassured about how im progressing. Want to know when its expected I can go back to work although at the moment I cant see that being for quite some time.

Meant to say its my fault messages overlapping. Am asking to many things at once im a pain . As you can probably imagine I am a nightmare when im actually talking.

I am a registered Natural Medicine Practitioner. I am fully qualified in herbal medicine, homeopathic medicine and nutrition, therapeutic and remedial massage and yes, I believe in it, have been qualified for 17 years, but studied it for decades... I also have a nursing background.

No problem :) ... I am multi tasking writing posts and watching an elimination cooking show...

You are not a pain at all, I am enjoying our communication :)

p.s. As I am governed by the Common Law Act I am unable to provide specific advice :)

Is it Australian version of masterchef? Love watching cookery pprogrammes but they make me hungry. Not good for the waistline.

clarabo you sound very perky-- like maybe your pain is being managed well but you still have enough brains to type LOL. Re your son's 'face like thunder, no chance of sunshine"-- let me guess, he's 11, 13, or 17?
and Poppet and both of you-- I am to see the PA at 2 weeks (OS on vacation), which suggests I will have staples to come out, dangit, and then Dr Himself at 6 weeks.
I've figured out why most OS's are men-- they get to buy and use really expensive tools!:rotfl: And they don't have to clean up their mess.....

clarabo, Each OS is different my post op check was 8 weeks and done by the senior nurse. You only see the surgeon again if yours is a problematic case.
As for the weather it is blowing a gale here so I cant go out. My balance is bad and I'm scared I will be blown over.

zauberflöte.... pain is settling.. taking my meds like a good lassi. Yep my son is 11 but really thinks hes 21. Gets away with murder ( my fault). Off out to meet him from school and into the mall. No doubt he will con me into buying all sorts. Well he is my only one n I love him to bits . X

Hi clarabo I live in the north east of England so not far from you. My appointment with the OS is almost 10 weeks after my op but this is because he is on holiday. I was lucky as I had a home visit from a senior physio yesterday who gave me advice on lifting the majority of the rules from 6 weeks. I have never had the stockings just daily injections. Last one due this evening !!!!

That trip to the mall today wasnt the best idea I have come up with. Was out to long . Only a few hours but hip was throbbing with all the standing. My feet are suffering and my hands are raw with those crutches. spending next couple of days resting . Feel bit guilty not done much in the way of muscle exercise. Think the walking is enough for just now.

Kim22. You must be glad over the moon you have no more needles. I only had those in hospital where the nurse came round same time every day and stabbed you in the stomache with the needle which if I rightly remember felt like id been stung by a wasp. Not nice so you deserve a wee gold star for puttin up with that.
Elosarabrab. Wish I had stayed at home today. Almost got blown down my stairs outside house it was so windy.

zauberflöte. Lying on top of my bed with my legs on pillows aw it feels good to be home. Bought Xbox games and more computer junk . These gaming consoles drive me crazy but my son loves them. If its not gaming or computers its skateboarding.

clarabo Yes being stung by a wasp describes the injections well also my tummy is a mass of bruises ! I must admit I find walking in the shopping malls very tough going and hard on the joints which is a shame as I do love to shop my daughter and I used to love to shop 'till we dropped in the good old days before I developed hip arthritis On the plus side I am saving money, I walked to our village and back and for the first time did a bit of food shopping. My husband reckons we did about a half a mile but I also was nearly knocked over with the force of the wind.

clarabo hi there,

Very important to balance your activity with rest... Good that you recognize that :)

Remember the mantra, rest, elevate, ice and pain meds..

You will improve day by day.. Slow and steady honey xx

Poppet. Yes you are right for sure about resting. Yesterday was the first I had iced. Its actually quite nice .I hate the cold (especially when bones come into the equation I just think ARTHRITIS.). So that put me right off. Was pleasantly surprised how soothing it was.
