Allycat, my OS took my TEDS off me himself 7 days into my hospital timeframe.. He said you don't need these, you are on blood thinning injections and now walking... At least for the previous 6 days, I didn't know they were on as I was unconscious in ICU..

Yes, we have some exceptionally good features on the forum, improving all the time :)
Poppet-- last week, for several days, when we tagged someone, the "@" wasn't there, but the name was blue and I got alerts. I just noticed the "@" is back-- phooey! I'd commented on the clean-ness of it when it first happened, but I didn't know who to tag to say 'good job"! :(
But this forum runs better than any I've ever been on-- it's loaded with features, and tidy, and colorful, and easy to use, etc etc. Thanks to whoever makes it do all this stuff!

clarabo, try a cup of Chamomile tea (no milk) before going to bed, it is classed as sedative, anodyne carminative, and tonic.... I have one most evenings. If I have an upset tummy, I use a Chamomile and Peppermint tea bag in my mug.. Works a treat :)

We have a great team working behind the scenes to improve use-ability... Glad you like it:)..

I will pass this on :)

Poppet, as you said, amazing how different hospitals and different drs have different protocols. I'm in Australia like you, and I was told to wear my stockings until I see OS next week Grrrrr.

I was supposed to wear mine for the full six weeks as well. But my toes kept getting stuck in the 'hole' and I would be there at 2am with my grabber and dressing stick fiddling with the darn things to get comfortable while trying not to wake my husband. In the end I had a hissy fit and got rid. (For what it is worth, and I know that I am a bad influence, from what I have read there is no evidence to suggest that they do actually reduce the risk of clotting. I just think it is one of the CYA aspects of being a surgeon. However, I'm not a surgeon, so what do I know?).

Have my partner here to help with housework n stuff ( not the same as when I do it and its bugging me lol). Put my feet up during the day occasionally which does help but I never sleep during the day. I see things that need to be done and end up buzzin about ( and sore). I need to chill out. Maybe the doctor will prescribe me a wee something to knock me out at night that would be just magic .
As for the scar yes its pretty massive. Think I will have to post a pic on badge of honour forum.
I know that it can be hard to shut our eyes to the housework the partners manage (it was the sticky kitchen floor that drove me nuts), but if nobody will die as a result of poor standards of housework for this relatively short period, then we have to let it go.

When you say that you put your feet up only occasionally, and that you end up buzzin about - that doesn't sound to me like you are getting the amount of rest that your body needs at this stage in order to heal = and that may be why you are still sore?

Yes iknow I need to chill out a bit more . Housework can wait cant it (I sound convincing). Son away back to school this morning with his face like thunder. Its his birthday tomorrow and had the cheek to ask if he could stay off after having 3 weeks easter holiday. Would you believe that. Answer was clearly no chance sunshine so am in the bad books big time.

I'm terrified of getting a blood clot, so even though I hate them with a passion because it is still so hot here, I only take them off to shower. See my OS next week Woo Hoo, stockings off!!

I am the same ... a bit manic about the blood clot thing. Think that's another reason I am up walkin around all the time.
Ps........ wish I was in Australia. Weather in uk is beyond shocking.. rain.... gale force winds... just plain miserable:groan:.

clarabo, wish I could send you some warmer weather, blue sky and sunshine.. Although we are in autumn and 1 June we will be into winter....

Your winter is better than our summer.. cant remember last decent one we had. West coast Scotland. What else can I expect should be well used to it by now.

clarabo

Actually, our winter, where I live is very cold, minus 7 C is very common...

I love Scotland, I have very happy memories of the Borders, especially a place called St Mary's Loch! We actually slept in the room where Wordsworth wrote some of his works.

I was born in the UK, we have been back many times.. Hopefully another trip sometime :)

know I am a pain but can anyone tell me how to tag..

Hi again clarabo

Just a tip, when you want to "tag" someone in response to their messages to you just type in the @ sign immediately followed by their user name and you'll see a small box below and to the left of the posting area where the members user name will display. Sometimes there might be a very slight pause, but the member user name will appear.

it will show their correct name which you can click on -- then when you submit your post the member's user name/link will turn blue and send a message to them person, like this...

Poppet

Wahoo... You did it, now you can tag me or any member any time :)

Poppet
Good god minus 7 sounds grim.....pretty much same as here in winter or worse poor you. You still have few months to go .

Things sure are different in different countries or even other parts of the uk in regards to os check ups. Mine is not until 25th june. 12 weeks after surgery... personally i think it should be 6 weeks . Anyone else the same ?

We can get down to minus 12C.. But with climate change each winter is different. Last winter we had a real cold winter, I am hoping for a milder winter this year...

Hubby and I work amongst lots of people so we are always exposed to colds, viruses, flu.. Last year we both had Pneumonia, so as a Natural Medicine Practitioner, I have gone into preventative mode.

Last year I was still getting over my THR and didn't have the energy to be proactive, but I have started a herbal protocol for both hubby and I to build up our immune system..
