THR July Hip Replacement - When will I ski again?<

Friday was fine working from home. I have enjoyed my weekend just relaxing & doing some housework. Not looking forward to a 5 day work week but at least it's only half days this week followed by a long 3 day holiday weekend. I have booked another day trip to the beach, this time the DE shore, which I am looking forward to.

Hope your week goes well with a really good reward awaiting you on the weekend.
Have fun at the beach!:SUNsmile:

@Lski, Where at the Delaware shore? We hit Bethany Beach regularly, and have been doing so for aeons! How goes recovery? Working part time is good. I am back to both of my jobs. Wrote a monthly newsletter for my last client, and have been preparing for my next craft shows (Smithsonian and Philadelphia Museum) coming up in October.....all from my easy chair and ottoman, with ice packs! Long caneless walks, and the 6-week green light from doc to cross legs, hit the pool and enjoy! Yay!!
Enjoy the beach, but take it easy, too!

I think we will go to Rohoboth but our hotel is closest to Lewes beach. I have a PT evaluation scheduled tomorrow morning for water therapy, maybe I can start this Saturday. I can't schedule apts until after the evaluation.
I may have to visit you at the Philly craft show. Send me a pm when it gets closer to the date to remind me. WAH with ice & legs elevated on a pillow which I placed on the shelf where my printer usually sits. My biggest worry solved, I couldn't think of how to elevate those legs until I actually sat at the armoire to see how to do it.
I do need to get out & walk more, I just don't like the heat. Grocery shopping & touring houses is the exercise I've been getting.
Going to take my afternoon nap now. I only slept 5 hrs last night. Hoping my daughters ankle is fine after she dropped a piece of furniture on it while helping my hubby move it down the stairs. It was at my request so I feel bad she was injured. She'll kill me if she can't work or dance for a while.

My daughter's ankle is fine she just bruised her shin we think. Thank the Lord. She's been walking around fine and went to work her waitress shift yesterday so it's all good.

It was 6 weeks ago I had surgery and today was my first O/P PT evaluation for water therapy. The PT was very nice and is on board with listening to my hip when it comes to therapy. She showed me a few land exercises to do twice a day of I feel up to it. My first water therapy visit is scheduled Friday morning.
Since therapy is just a mile from my office and there was a training session & another project meeting I needed to attend I decided to go in person. It was nice to see everyone but made for a very long morning. I started working from home at 6:00 am then headed to PT at 7:30 for my 8:00 apt. It went until 9:00 then I drove another 25 min. south to pick up an order at the Kmart there and got to the office just in time for my 10:30 training, which overlapped with the project meeting that began at 11:00, which I arrived to about 15 min. late. They were happy to see me, so lateness forgiven.
Then I grabbed Arby's lunch on the way home at my daughter's request. Once home ate lunch then took her to shop for clothes to work at her new job, finally was able to nap from 2:00-4:00. Awoke, worked until 5:30, had dinner, did some dishes, met with people from Sears for kitchen counter quote & now I'm writing this.

I think I'll sleep well tonight.

I had a good night's rest didn't get up until 6 AM, so much better that 3:30 or 4:00.
I got myself ready for the day and worked 8:30 - 10:30 then took a break. My daughter wanted to drive somewhere so I had some things to mail so we went to the post office. That wasn't enough so I agreed to go to Sears to try on some boots & take advantage of their most recent shop your way rewards deal (spend$50 get $50 in point to redeem on a future purchase). They didn't have any boots in stock yet so we just found other essential items to buy. We went home had lunch then napped for 1.5 hrs. Awoke to take my daughter to work then headed back to my laptop to work for another 2 hours.
My husband had some great news, he was offered a position working with autistic children at a school for the entire school year. I'm so grateful, my prayers answered. Substitute teaching gives me anxiety never knowing if he has an assignment or paycheck.
I wanted to celebrate the good news, so he picked up some steak, corn on cob & grilled tonight (even though it was 98 degrees outside) we just ate indoors.
Overall good day, I even did the few PT exercises I was given yesterday.

Great news on hubby's job. I'm happy to hear it. :yay:
Sounds like you had a little celebration. :happydance:
I hope you have a great Thursday and a nice holiday weekend.
@Lski

Today was my first water therapy visit. It went well. I only had difficulty with one of the exercises. Now my muscles are a bit sore from the workout. Glad to have a long weekend to rest. Looks like rain so will likely cancel our trip to the DE shore on Sunday.
It was a long work week too. I found myself lacking energy & too emotional about stuff. I'm not sure if I will be able to increase my hours from 4 to 5 per day next week. Hopefully it won't be too bad with just 4 work days next week with Monday being Labor Day holiday.
I'm expecting it to be a challenging week since my daughter starts PALCS, an internet based school on Tuesday and she has orientation on Thursday morning at CPFA , a performing arts school. This will all be new for us. Home schooling is not something I would have considered i r my daughter wasn't talented in music & dance. She already knows friends that have been doing this for years, so I am hoping they will be her guide & support during this transition. 3 days at home school.& 2 days at CPFA taking classes she loves ( ballet, theater, choir etc.).
Have a great weekend everyone!

Aww, boo-hoo on cancelling your trip to the shore :cry:
Hopefully the weather changes and you can still make it. :fingersx:
I'm happy to hear your water therapy went well. Ice afterwards, if you're not already.
Don't be surprised to still experience Energy Drain or waves of the Post Op Blues.
You're still very early into recovery.
I hope you have a peaceful relaxing weekend whether it be at the shore, or at home.
@Lski

The trip to the shore is definitely cancelled. I messed up the hotel reservation. I know I booked it for 9/2 but when I pulled up the confirmation email today to check the cancellation details I realized it said check in date of 8/26 which is the day I reserved the room on line. Wyndham won’t change the date or give me a refund so I am very upset.
I’m even more upset with Sears. I ordered a stove that my siblings all pitched in to have delivered today for her birthday which is tomorrow. They emailed us yesterday saying it will be delivered between 12:45 & 2:45. I called to confirm the exact time of delivery since my moms boyfriend wanted to know if he had time to take his mom to lunch. Once on the phone I was told the stove wasn’t in the warehouse yet so on back order. The manufacturer did not provide an expected date for delivery. I was livid and tried desperately to get in touch with anyone able to get my mom her stove this weekend. With the holiday no luck. The manufacturer of Kenmore appliances is unknown to the Sears reps. It is so frustrating being a customer. I ordered it 3 weeks ago, so expected it would not be delayed. So much for my moms birthday surprise. My sister is going to be angry with me. She wanted to get one from Home Deot but I found a Lowe price at Sears so went with that one.
I couldn’t even sleep when I tried to nap I’m exhausted but too upset to relax.
Not sure what curve ball is next so just going to stay home this weekend.

I'm so sorry. It sounds like you've experienced a few disappointments over the past couple days.
The hotel reservation may sadly be a loss unless you choose to pursue it. I'm sure your mom will understand the belated gift given your good intentions. You'd understand were the roles reversed and it was your gift and your kids who went in on the surprise. Try not to be so hard on yourself. It will work out. If your sister is angry with you....she'll get over it. Try to relax and get some sleep, it may all feel less stressful in the morning.
Hugs
@Lski

I awoke just before 4AM yesterday and still wanted to go away for the night, so I looked on my Wyndham timeshare site and found a great deal in the Poconos & $19 reservation fee. Being last minute it took half the points to book a 1 bedroom unit. When we arrived all they had available were 2 bedroom units, so I was very happy. I feel like the universe was rewarding me after being screwed by the hotel chain.
Then we learned the Garlic Festival was in town so got to go there and catch some good live entertainment and yummy food (garlic ice cream & pickled mango). Then spent time in the pool doing my therapy exercises. The best is the hot tub in our master bath. The heat really helps the muscles relax. We check out in a few hours so need to finish breakfast and get back into that tub.

Happy Labor Day!

Well I'm glad your holiday weekend wasn't a bust after all.
Good for you with the spontaneity. Sometimes those plans are the most fun.
Glad you had the hot tub to relax in. Bet it was relaxing!

I do like fresh Garlic as a seasoning but Garlic Ice Cream sounds awful. Can't even imagine.
My sister once served a dessert of a couple scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
drizzled with Vodka, bacon crumbles and freshly ground pepper. Craziest most unappetizing combo that I didn't want to try. But it was good. Maybe only once in a lifetime good, I'd never crave it, but strangely good.

Enjoy your last lounging soak in the hot tub and safe travels home!
@Lski

Been back to work with 5 hrs days this week. Yesterday I worked from home 6:30 am - 9:30 am then headed to water therapy at 10:00. Went into the office for a meeting at 11:00 then stayed for my last hour. I couldn't get my leg elevated & comfortable at my desk, so just had to put the laptop on my lap. Much better set up at home.
Today I was full of energy when I got out of th e shower so did the few exercises the P T gave me at my initial appointment. I worked from7 until noon then had lunch. I did a few things around the house (sort mail, email etc. then took a short 1_hr. nap. Awoke to take my daughter to work and stopped at the grocery store for a few things. Afterwards my pain level increased, so rested this evening. I hope to be full of energy again tomorrow morning.

The next morning was fine pain level 3, but by afternoon it increased to 4. Today I had a water therapy session. I was able to do the exercises but felt some pain at incision site. The afternoon was fine as I sat at my laptop with ice & legs elevated while working. This evening there was a burning like feeling at the incision site. Hoping a weekend of rest will give me the energy needed for 6 hour work days for a full 5 day work week next week.

Good luck next week.
Hope you have the energy to get through the longer days.
Let us know how it goes.
A great weekend to you!
@Lski

Answer to when will you ski again? My answer may be different then yours, but For my RTHR in March of 2014, we took a 7 day ski trip to Steamboat in January of 2015. Skied great, no pain, but I did slow down and stay off the bumps. My LTHR is scheduled for September 26, 2018, I plan to ski on our local little hill after the first of the year, provided all is well.

@Lmflora- thanks for trying to answer my question. I’m happy to hear you were skiing after 9 months. My grind has a home in Colorado. I’m hoping to go in March and try the green slopes. It will be 8 months for me in March.

I had a good weekend. Minor pain persists so still taking meds ( Tylenol, naproxen & asprin). I was able to accomplish the tasks I put on my list. ( laundry, bills, shopping, cooking, dishes etc.) Still not sleeping 8 hrs at night so happy to have napped both Saturday & Sunday. I'm not naturally a napped . In the past I could never relax enough to call asleep during the day even when I was nursing my daughter in her first year of life. This is a big adjustment to my schedule that I wish would go away. I get very cranky if I am awake too long. Think of that snickers commercial, the one where the person is a bear until they get to eat a snickers bar. That's me when I'm tired & hungry. I went out with my daughter to shop for 3 items expecting it to take an hour at most. We left around 11 am but didn't return until 1:00. I planned to eat lunch by 12:30 then sleep until 2:00 when I'd need to take more Tylenol, but since we got home so late I ended up eating then sleeping from 2-4:pm. I was a mess trying to get dinner in the crock pot & lunch eaten by 2:00. Thankfully my daughter made the grilled cheese for me. I was much better when I woke up. Dinner cooked while I slept & we enjoyed the ribs with my daughter's boyfriend later that evening.

Well it's 5 am here Monday morning. I'm going to hit the shower and then try to work a 6 hour day with a nap after lunch.

Have a great week everyone.
