THR July Hip Replacement - When will I ski again?<

Hi @Lski
This is an expensive week for you. Plumbers, Chimney people, hopefully this is the end of hiring
repair service for awhile. :fingersx:
It's nice to get outside during early recovery. Just as Mojo mentioned, please be cautious, uneven ground,
holes in the ground etc. It's difficult to look at a weed takeover, especially when you can't attack it.
Hey, you can always hire someone :heehee: You're getting good at that this week.
Just kidding, lol

Hope you have a great week!

Today was my 3 week anniversary. I got to drive again and went to the grocery store for a couple things and the produce store. I only slept 5 hours last night, so needed a nap this afternoon. This evening my daughter had a couple of friends over for cake to celebrate her 16th birthday which is tomorrow. We are headed to Wildwood, NJ shore. Packing lots of ice & hoping for good weather.

:yahoo:Happy 3 weeks...you sound really good.
Sweet 16 for your daughter too!
Hope you have a great trip!

Hi I had hip surgery not far behind you (7/30/18). Like you getting around pretty good with only a cane. No real pain more aches in spots and in my knee. I keep ice packs in rotation and it does help a lot. I see progress a little more each day. You want to wake up and be "fixed" but it just does not happen that way I guess. Take care and get better each day.

I had a great time at the beach. It was a lot more walking than I anticipated. Getting from the boardwalk onto the beach closer to the water & lifeguards was a hike through the sand. I got up to use the rest room once and had to stop to rest on the way back. I heard the first popping sound on my way back followed by some pain. I'm pretty sore now so plan to rest tomorrow. I really enjoyed the sound of the waves , the sunshine, & salty breeze.

Hi @Lski
Your trip to the beach sounds wonderful. The sound of the waves, feeling of sunshine and the scent of salty sea air. So great you were able to get out and enjoy it all.
Consider icing tonight and tomorrow, I think it will help any pain you're feeling.
A peaceful evening to you!

Wow! I live at the beach and my OS said no sand for 12 weeks! (I'm sure I'll break that at 8 weeks, because I am a beachbum) Uneven sand can cause dislocation or at least uneven roll of knee/ankle in it. I'm sure you are sore. Just be careful... very careful. Ice and rethink tomorrow.

May be the time to just sit on the porch and soak some rays!!

Layla- thanks will ice and have been icing all day.

Bchbum4,ever -I don't have any restrictions having anterior TRHR. At least I wasn't told not to walk on the beach sand. I wore sneakers which provides support. It was hard sand most of the way and cement walkway for part of it.

I had anteriorLateral, so I do have restrictions. My earlier post was fueled by jealousy!

Enjoy! But like Layla said - ice too!!

Yesterday I was so tired and in pain unless lying in a recliner with ice. I did too much walking the day before.

Good news is my daughter passed her learners permit text & dad took her driving. I was too tired to go with them. I took her to get it in the morning, we waited about 45 min. for her # to be called them learned and needed part of the application completed by a Dr. & she needs a physical within the last 6 months. Her last one was 7 months ago so off to the clinic for a physical. After that it was lunchtime so I went home to eat. I was so tired I had her father take her back for the learners permit. She really wanted me to go but I just needed rest. So glad she passed and her dad is teaching her to drive. I just don't have the patience for it right now.

Hoping for more energy & less pain today.

Interesting, I was exhausted yesterday as well, but don't feel it was from overdoing. You may be experiencing the expected energy drain about this time in recovery.

How exciting (and scary!) to have this milestone with your daughter! It's the start of their steps to freedom and adulthood.

I hope you can rest up today..

I've been going through phases of boredom, so then I get up and do all kinds of stuff, and then complete exhaustion. LOL! I'm coming up on 6 weeks on Tuesday, so I've a feeling this will be going on for quite some time with me, but I'm ok, as long as I see some improvement along the way. Glad to hear your daughter passed the test for her permit.

Thanks dogchick. Sorry you are bored. I have not yet been bored. I have a ton of magazines & books to read. I couldn't focus until this week, so hoping to get through them before going back to work on 8/20. If course there is also housework, little things like organizing drawers or cupboards. I can always find something to do but I still tire quickly so have to pace myself.

Update: I had more energy yesterday & today. We went to church Sunday then I went grocery shopping with my daughter & pushed the cart with ease. Had lunch rested an hour or so then went to the Goodwill for some things my daughter wanted. I stopped to rest on a couch that was at the front of the store. It was so comfy I stayed there until she was ready to cash out. If I had a place to put it I would have bought it.

Today I awoke at 3:00 tried to go back to sleep but couldn't do did some reading & headed down to the kitchen around 5:00. I stayed in my pj's until 10:30 ish then got dressed cleaned the bathroom sink and de-cluttered a bit. Went in our spare bedroom to put something away & found myself straightening that room & closet too. My mother in law will be here Sunday so I wanted to begin getting the room ready for her visit. Then I went to the post office to send back a laptop we ordered that didn't have WiFi switch that worked. Stopped at Walgreens for a few things then came home for lunch ( hubby cooked). After lunch I died my hair showered then took a nap. I've been up since 4:00 and will head to bed soon. Pain wasn't too bad today & I was very active. I even made it to the basement twice to feed my rabbit.

Not trying to brag, just document my journey, so if I'm super tired tomorrow I'll see why.

Oh I do have big plans tomorrow. I am going to look at a ranch home that's fine sale at 11:30 am ( really want single floor living, tired of stairs) then have an appreciation event to attend at work at 3:00 pm.Hope I get more sleep tonight & sleep until at least 5 am.

:hi:Glad to hear you are doing well.
Does sound like you have a big day today also.
Take care and get some extra rest after your outings!:ice:

That house I wanted to see is pending a sale, so I'll cancel that & have a less exciting day. Thanks Mojo.

:)You'll be rested and looking well for your work event.
Hope there is some good snacks :yes:and that you have a very good time!

Looking for houses - fun
Moving - Not so much.
Sounds like you're doing well. Keep up the good work.
Enjoy your day!
@Lski

Yesterday was 4 weeks since my hip was replaced. It was a busy day. I spent the morning g teaching my daughter to drive, running errands to the dance shop, dollar store & out to lunch at Boston Market. Had a short nap then went to the office for a celebration for a big project I worked on that launched in June. It was a big success everyone has been pleased with the new process and system. It was nice to see my coworkers but feel bad that I am not ready to go back 20 hrs a week yet. My plan is to go back next Thursday. I have scheduled a night in N.Y. City next Tuesday so I could start on Monday but don't want to work one day then take 2 days off. That would be strange so feel it's best to just start on Thursday. My boss sent me an e-mail saying if I'm up for a trip to N.Y. I should be ready to work. I just responded that I feel too tired to focus on numbers & spreadsheets only sleeping 5 hours at night. My disability leave is officially approved through August 26th. Starting work from home part time on 8/23 is a couple days early. I wish she could switch bodies with me for a few days, because only then would she understand.

Anyway last night we drove my daughter & her best friend to Camden, NJ BB&T stadium to see Pentatonics. I was supposed to go with her but I couldn't handle the 5 or 6 flights of stairs. So my husband I had dinner at Applebees then went to see the Christopher Robinson movie. It was the first time in about 17 years that we had a date night like this. Unfortunately it was cut short as the concert ended before the movie due to the numerous previews shown (30 min. worth). It was $5 Tuesday tickets so we will just catch the rest of it on Demand or Netflix someday. It was a good movie so definitely want to see the end. The girls had a great time & we enjoyed our date. So K didn't get to bed until midnight and was up at 5:00 so I'm headed for a nap soon. Hope everyone is well today. I'm walking in the house without the cane today, but use it outside. Baby steps...

Hi @Lski
Your boss sounds insensitive. Obviously doesn't understand you also need some mental acuity to function fully at work.

Not sure how you're traveling to NYC, or what type of activity you have planned, but that may be a bit ambitious at only one month post op. NYC usually involves lots of walking. Are you up for that? Or do you plan to take a cab from door step to door step? Just don't want to see you get in a difficult situation of overdoing it and suffering pain as a result.

Sounds like you and hubby had a nice date night, even if cut short. I saw the movie, Christopher Robin, with my granddaughter last week. It was cute. I love Winne the Pooh, he's so sweet. Love his line "Your ladder is broken" during his mess with the kitchen shelves, lol.

Hope your day is going well! Thanks for the update.
