Hip Infection* Izabel, Walking on Sunshine

[Bonesmart.org] Izabel, Walking on Sunshine sweet friends. xx

I have had difficulties getting on here since last weekend with messages of system unavailable in the mornings (for me) butt usually up later in the day. All others such as Amazon, e-Bay, etc, fine ... sadly! :heehee: Anyway, here I am checking on you all.

It has been a relatively quiet and uneventful week ... except on Tuesday I shaved BOTH of my legs from ankle up ... it's these small things that really count!

Wednesday was good for me mentally as I had Oncology Surgeon appointment. Of course I already knew Mammogram and Ultrasound clear but she confirmed, also blood tests excellent, did physical exam and gave me final report stating 100% negative and discharged me (5 years) but I have to voluntarily have yearly checks.

Yesterday I did not feel well so sent Hubby off for a few beers, sandwich and pool game with a friend. I actually fell asleep in the afternoon ... unheard of with me!

Today is a new dawn and a new day and the sun and garden is beckoning, My shrubby Nasturium seeds germinated and shot up after a week so I planted them in a trough. Also some Grasses and Geraniums have germinated and a rare tropical plant has sent up three offerings.

I feel fine and hope to make some progress walking more smoothly. Knees are easing up .... but still there lurking in the shadows!

Sending everyone peace and happiness for the weekend.

Just popping by to say hello and see how all are doing.

Nothing special to report I'm afraid to say. Still using the walker more than the crutches as I still don't have my balance under total control. I had bad balance before these last issues started and as a result had a couple of falls (have a nice scar on my forehead to prove it)! I did see a GP here (British) and he just said Osteoarthritis because I had a poofy knee and to stop wearing heels and get a stool for the kitchen, So I have many years of wobbly walking and non walking to overcome. :umm:I get bored and tired just sitting and getting up every half hour/hour to wander round the house ... I don't really see progress. I still pedal 20 minutes every morning and do stretching and muscle exercises. Can't think what else to do. Sure not going to drive to go to a public pool!

But I persevere and will get there eventually, just have to remember that sometimes elusive word ... patience!

Nothing special on our agenda for the weekend. Hubby doing a little DIY and me pottering with my seeds and seedlings. I am still crocheting, now onto ponchos and said Hubby could put everything up on Facebook (I don't do that) and sell as bulk for someone to sell separately or at a car boot. I would give the money to Charity.

Well, I have done a weekly missive so I will bid adeus amigos for now wishing you all a peaceful weekend.

to stop wearing heels and get a stool for the kitchen,
Well, Gee. That's an easy fix.
Why didn't I think of that?
Could've saved you a doctor visit.:heehee:
Hope something sweet happens in your life today:flwrysmile:

Hi, sweet Izabel!
Always nice to read your friendly updates and see your uplifting little photos.
I hope you have a lovely weekend!

We're gearing up for the 4th of July here in the states. I know you know what that means because I believe you're from the US, or lived here for a time? I'm guessing it will start getting noisy this weekend as people begin lighting off fireworks early and pets start scurrying to hide. It's going to be hot and steamy in my neck of the woods. Not my fave but I'll survive the heat and noise, lol. Family, friends and BBQ make it all worthwhile.

Hugs and best wishes! :loveshwr: :friends:

Oh, my weekend has started off to a brilliant start with sweet words from @Mojo333 and @Layla lifting my spirits. Hugs and kisses to you both. xx

I am British but have lived in Canada (Montreal and Toronto) and the US (New York, Connecticut, South Carolina and Alabama). Hubby is American (Ohio). We celebrate British, American and Portuguese holidays! :yes!:

Thank you Ladies and I wish you both a great weekend.

Just popping in to wish all you peeps a wonderful Sunday.

I have progress yesterday in that I was able to walk (with walker) down to the two lower patios over a gravel path, which I have avoided like the plague. I was really pleased.

But I am suffering today with both knees giving me real grief! I know I have more to make up than others, now not having walked for 22 months except lately with the walker and up and down the foyer with elbow crutches. It is disheartening to say the least and I am thinking of contacting my Osteopath/Physiotherapist tomorrow.

Anyway, KFC is here for lunch so I will love you and leave you for now.

Aww, Izabel...your posts and sweet little pics always warm my heart.
I hope you enjoy your KFC. Didn't know the Colonel made it all the way to Portugal :heehee:
I'm happy to read of your progress. Sorry you're feeling discouraged a bit also. Hopefully your Osteopath / Physiotherapist can help you.
Hugs and best wishes for a lovely rest of the day. :loveshwr: :friends:

You spread sunshine everywhere you go @Izabel I am so glad to see you made it down the gravel path and felt great about your accomplishments!! I hope you find relief and encouragement from meeting with your Osteopath and Physiotherapist. I’m so sorry you have been feeling low. Sending ❤️ and wishes for a lovely Sunday sweet Izabel. You are a true treasure to be sure. xx Sarah

[Bonesmart.org] Izabel, Walking on Sunshine Happy Independence Day to my dear BoneSmarties.

Have a fun-filled day and don't eat too much. :heehee: We are going to a river bar Portuguese friends have for a drink then Hubby is going to do us hamburgers ... after he finds some sesame seed buns. Wish I had some pumpkin pie or New York cheesecake or Key lime pie ... any ole American pie. Pumpkin is available nearly year-round here and they make the most fabulous pumpkin jam (available in all stores and served fresh in restaurants) to serve with soft goat's cheese, yummy!

Saude ... Cheers ... Chin, Chin ...Prost ... To Your Good Health ..

 Special Friends.

Just a weekend pop in. Not much to report except i have taken a few steps just touching something a few times (one side not leaning on). I guess that's progress to a certain degree. We were out 7 hours on Tuesday and 4 hours on Thursday and I found it very tiring. Yesterday I spent 2 hours sorting out my shoes and some clothes, so 4 pairs of shoes and half a dozen items to the Red Cross.

I didn't go to the Osteo/Physio as I figured I could work things out myself. Just wish I knew why my knees still hurt, it is so disheartening but I just grin and bear it! I still pedal 20 minutes a day plus my hobbling and muscle exercises. Guess it has just been too long out of commission. :boohoo: Any thoughts appreciated as I am spending too much time on my derriere. :flabber:

Any old how, just want to wish you all a peaceful weekend.

Aww, Izabel...that poor left leg of yours has been through an awful lot in less than five years.
Given your history, I guess I'm not surprised things are taking a little longer. Any progress is good, even though it's not happening in leaps and bounds right now. Prayers it steadily continues to get better for you.
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
Hugs :loveshwr: :friends:

Hello @Izabel I am sorry you’re feeling blue. I am slow out of the gate too. I think just steady, forward progress is good. Sounds like you are furniture surfing. Seems like a very good sign.

I have been doing some PT. It’s hit or miss for me. Some times I wind up very sore. May end up stopping. The bicycle is by far the most helpful for me. Good for you that you are riding 20 minutes daily! Still have some knee pain and swelling too. One thing that helps me is to really focus on standing tall and not leaning to either side. I think if I could get my glutes and abdominal muscles firing I could start progressing. I am also working on stairs. Just a few at a time. Leading with operated leg up. Just want you to know you’re not alone.❤️ I am still here for hand holding. Sending xx

Just stopping by to spread some sunshine  @Izabel

You have made it through some very tough times. Almost four months and you are still loving, kind and supportive. despite carrying your own challenges. I love all your sweet pictures and have personally felt such a huge lift from all the hope and encouragement you give to everyone here. Hoping this month is your turning point sister! I will be here with you every step of the way. :loveshwr:xx Sarah

@Fit4Family
 sweet Sarah. I guess we just have our 'days' good and bad.

Luckily I don't have steps to contend with. The house is an''antiga casa', an old house of indeterminate age with 2 foot thick walls, even some inside ones made of clay and stone. However, it was built on a slight slope so there is a step to the guest bathroom, one from the foyer to the living room (the one I tripped up shifting my stem and causing numerous fractures ... amazing what one little step can do) and another to the kitchen. There are also such steps outside to the kitchen patio and pathway. I haven't tried them with crutches yet, not confident.

I don't know why I have this latest 'affliction' but since I sit more than anything, it is very unpleasant! The times I have said 'what have I done to deserve this?' ... time to make lemonade, me'thinks.

I have some landscapers coming tomorrow to cut down a Jacaranda, a Myoporo and a Malaleuca (tea tree) which have got out of hand so more sunshine will flood into my little garden.

Please take things easy and have a peaceful week.

Sending you some midweek flowers ...
