Hip Infection* Izabel, Walking on Sunshine

@Izabel Bless you, these are such difficult times, and they do go on for a long time, but i understand what trials you both have to go through, believe me i have been through most of them ,but in time a greater understanding develops and you start to work together. I so want to be independant as possible and my husband has learnt to let me try everything i want even if eventually i have to ask for help!! Like you i always say all the lovely words! we can only try its never easy for patient and carer, but we are going to get better and better and tomorrow is another day and the sun is shining! Big hugsxx

Sympathetic hugs from me too. I am blessed with a very supportive spouse, but we have our moments and niggles too. And mine never says thanks unless I prompt him, which takes away all the benefit. Sometimes when I make dinner, I ask him to serve it and bring it out to us (to eat in front of the TV most often, shameful confession!). Then I automatically thank him for bringing it out, then feel cross that he gets thanked and I put in 90% of the effort. But not to thank him would feel weird.

I hope you had your peaceful Sunday, and a lovely Monday too.

Oh my blessed supportive darlings out there around the world. xx Although one doesn't like to moan, it is SO nice to have people who know what you are saying and how you feel.

My darling hubby, bless his cotton socks, he just doesn't understand. He is currently having some dental wok and he has to take a downer before he goes, be anaethetised (sp?), comes home, takes an Ibuprofen and then has for a 1-2 hour sleep ... and that is for a FILLING ... seriously! He went last week and has to go again next week.

I apologised to him Saturday saying it was 'getting to me'. When I went to have my soak in the tub yesterday, he couldn't be more helpful, even TOO helpful staying to sit and talk to me whilst I soaked! Then he fixed a light lunch which we ate on the patio and we then sat there for 2-1/2 hours. I pottered with some potted plants which was nice.

@Carriemay60 He insists on doing DIY projects and not one has ever been finished, maybe 90%, by his own admission he gets bored/tired with it. He sets up websites then abandons them leaving people puzzled. Think that's how he is now with caregiving. I love him to pieces ... but oh to be independent again. He has gone grocery shopping now and will buy everything he likes, mostly calorific unhealthy items, not surprisingly he is overweight and will not exercise. Sigh! Stop complaining Izzy!

I was brought up to be polite and respective to others. In hospital I would say thank you to whoever was cleaning my room or serving my food. On more than one occasion I was asked why I said thank you when they were doing their job, and my reply was that I appreciated what they were doing. When I left this time I had at least a dozen come to bid me farewell and want me to come back to say hello ... walking!

I was reading on the knee forum where someone had pain and swelling going from walker to crutches ... and I think that was my problem Saturday. By the way my crutches came from a Health & Beauty Shop for 13 Euros the pair, discounted to 11.70 Euros but free with my store card points! I like free!

Having special blood test done tomorrow for Dentist and see Surgeon and have blood tests on 3 June at 12 week mark. Think I may have CRP and SED tests done tomorrow as well.

Gosh, I am rambling and appear to have written a novel here so I will bid farewell my friends ..

@Izabel Just after I posted above the other day my husband launched into a series of little jobs like new weather stripping on the the exterior doors, doing a little repair on the stairs. He went on to clean the interior of the car but forgot to leave a sign on it that no one was allowed to us so when my son and I came home with the back loaded with plants and mulch later in the afternoon, all hell broke loose! :rotfl:

Izabel, you're precious!
I'm sure many appreciate your thank you's and consideration. Kindness and manners never goes out of fashion. I love that Thank You with the feather pen and ink at the end of your post. It's adorable!
Wishing you only the best with your upcoming blood tests. I hope you have a peaceful and relaxing week.
@Izabel

[Bonesmart.org] Izabel, Walking on Sunshine one and all.

It's been good week. Numbness has just about gone from inner thigh ... funny how you suddenly notice it's not there! Had lunch with friends at the tapas restaurant on Wednesday, meeting them there again next Wednesday. I did seed sowing of exotic plants in my new peat discs ... they are neat things. Will do more after lunch. Have been getting about indoors between walker and crutches. Still doing outdoors in wheelchair. Have stood at sink washing up, a real milestone. :egypdance: Weight is up to 132lbs, so a 20lb gain ... need to stop there!

Friends are coming over late afternoon for drinks, it's his birthday. Will sit outside in the shade as we have been going in the low 30s/around 90F.

Have Surgeon on Monday morning followed by blood tests, :fingersx: I am clear, and they will do the special blood test for Dentist. Then have Mammogram and Ultrasound in the afternoon ...:beg:

Hope all are well and happy and have a peaceful weekend.

Things ARE getting better and better, my friend.:tada:
I too want to add my prayers for all good reports!

It's my 12-week anniversary today.

Yesterday was full of stress and happiness. At 8.15am left for private hospital. Saw Ortho Surgeon, chatted about how I was feeling/doing. Sent for X-rays of hip and knee then for bloods, including the special one for Dentist. Back to Surgeon. He is pleased with X-rays, both implants are where they are supposed to , just not pleased with holes in my bones and was happy I am still taking Calcium/D3. I must continue strengthening bones and be careful not to fall (walk on level ground with no obstacles). Showed where previous stem went through femur and doesn't want new one following suit. I was surprised how close tip of stem is to the knee replacement, only a couple of inches I'd guess! I told him about knee pain walking and he said I must strengthen all in that area. Assuming blood results come back okay, I don't need to go back for three months unless I need to. :egypdance:

Home at noon, had a light lunch, hubby had hour's snooze then off again at 3pm to SNS/NHS hospital for Mammogram and Ultrasound. Suffered painful Mammogram due to fibrous tissue and into room for Ultrasound. Immediately Doctor said to me 'I have good news'. He was the one who did Biopsy nearly 6 years ago and Ultrasound every year. Already my X-rays were up on screen (which Technician said were not as clear as they would like) but Doctor said he sees nothing :yay: ... did Ultrasound and said he still sees nothing. :happydance: Have appointment with Onc Surgeon on the 19th for results of bloods (I have markers implanted). Any old how, I consider myself clear. :yes!:

Home by 5.15pm so sat on the patio and had celebratory drinks ... for two welcoming results! :cheers2:
Nothing on the schedule for today so just relaxing ... apart from normal exercises. :upright: :walking:
Happy, happy everyone. :loveshwr: Izzy xx

PS Have just corrected post to say we arrived home at 5.15pm not 4.15pm.

Splendid news!:happydance:
I tell you, you are one strong lady.

Your story leaves an indelible impression on me...it shows me how there are remarkable people who withstand much adversity and weather life storms without letting it change their gracious spirit.
Despite your many struggles, you are persevering and overcoming, and getting better! :egypdance:
And you anyways have a kind word for others. So glad to have you on the forum @Izabel :loveshwr:

@Mojo333, you are such a little doll with a big heart on and off the forum. You do lift spirits. xx I am a firm believer of the old adage ... "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade". I must admit, sometimes it turns out slightly sour ... so next time I add more sugar!

@Hoppy Nanny, Thank you Chrissie, I hope you are in fine fettle today and that the sun is shining on you. xx

SUCH FABULOUS NEWS!!!

Well look at you, the lady with the healing hip and NO cancer!!! You are a tiny little warrior and quite likely kept with us all because you are such a bright and loving person. I am so happy for you and your husband that with the all clear on the ultrasound & mammogram you really do have an end in sight with this hip healing.

You've got this! :egypdance::egypdance:

Results in of bloods ... all within acceptable range ... :yes!:

Now it's up to me to get properly mobile but it hasn't been easy going not having walked in 18 months then plagued by Plantar Fascitis. I am overcoming my mental fear of falling and working on my balance, but must always keep in mind that Doc said infection could return so I will be checked quarterly.

Just wish knee would ease up totally. Off now to practice with crutches ... and soon ...

:loveshwr:Wonderful news @Izabel You must be worn out from all those tests. Thrilled with your cancer news and hip update. Tiny steps add up and build muscle. One day at a time. You are such a loving, gracious person. I am grateful to you for all the encouragement you provide to others here. Hope you have recovered from your big day of tests.

What wonderful news, Izabel! I can only imagine the anxiety you feel going for these tests.
Thankfully, all the results were good. I'll bet you're still on a high over all that good news.
Couldn't be happier for you, dear one.
I hope you're having a nice Thursday. Enjoy the weekend!
