Wow I lent over to reach something from my bed side table and when I turned back there was an almighty crack from my knee and the pain was horrific and I thought I was going to be sick what is going on in there!!:what: @Josephine: @Jamie:

Tagging Jo and Jamie so they will see your post quickly Natalie.

Was it a momentary pain that has gone away now or did it start with the bending motion and now it's constant?

I would think the pain is related to the movement that is currently going on in your knee. Sonja has complained of the same problem. Maybe Jo will have some other information for you. @Josephine:

It started with the bending and now it's constant very strange too I don't know how to describe it now it almost feels like it is filling with warm liquid that sounds daft but the only way I can describe it,it keeps peaking at absolute agony then easing off to just pain then starting again and then easing again?!

Really weird and scary!

Sorry Jamie I forgot to say thank you xx

I used to have a lot of cracking noises pre TKR but it was louder than anything I have experienced before my son came running in from hus room as he heard it!

Natalie, I really do wish I could offer some advice or something but the only thing that comes to mind is that you have adhesions or adhesions with the SC which is what is causing all this pain and stuff. You have another 9 days to go to see Mr Porter. But I do suggest that you phone his secretary tomorrow and check a) that he is going to be there and b) that you are scheduled to see him and not his registrar.

Another thing you could do is start making a diary of all these happenings, day, time, what happened, your pain score, what meds you took, how effective they were, etc., etc.
Make the list in bullet points by date and time rather than an essay. Highlight some of the more extreme experiences in red.

Send it to him a couple of days before the appointment. Mention this to the secretary when you speak to her, perhaps she will be kind enough to give you her email address for convenience. Also take a copy with you just in case her doesn't have it to hand when you see him.

Thanks Jo xxx

I have been keeping a diary for the last 2 weeks :thumb:I never thought about sending it to Mr Porter though :)

He is going to be in clinic it was him that rang me with the appointment to apologise for not getting me in sooner as he he said he wouldn't be in clinic until then.I will ring tomorrow though to see if she can provide me with an email address and just double check he is there.

I hope there is something he can do but if I'm honest I really don't think there will be.

Thanks for being here everyone it helps so much xx

Natalie,

I was in bed the other night and turned over when my knee decided to lock in the bent position. I had to smack it against the bed to get it to loosen and heard a loud pop that sounded like an explosion and had extreme pain. The pain eventually subsided but then I had other issues pop up with the kneecap. do you think yours could be anything like that? After the "mess" breaks loose, the pain goes down for a little while, then it creeps back up?

Yes sounds similar Sonja along with the loud noise there was a feeling of it popping. Out of a stuck position and it's rracked a few times since when I've tried move into a sleep position

Natalie,

It sounds like you are having the same issues as me. The kneecap doesn't want to track, and believe me it feels like bones are breaking! I have bone fragments around the tibia from some of the popping, but the kneecap will cause problems as bad as the tibia. The pain gets so intense!

Doc been and upped Fentanyl said the knee is more swollen since he last sore it took more bloods tO check if infection has gone.Checking on me again tomorrow.

I feel lousy today so going to hide under the duvet!

Does anyone in the UK use hospital transport to get to appointments?

They have changed the criteria and you aren't able to take an escort with you so my husband won't be able to come with me next week!

So after a few hours of some relief from the pain after upping the pain patches it's kicked back in again partly my own fault for doing some jobs only the washing up at my stool and folding washing but. This involved getting down the stairs.
So I've taken Oramorph and I have ice too.
My best friends are at their final panel tomorrow to see if they can adopt I'm so nervous for them we are meeting with them at the weekend at a Spa hotel to celebrate or commiserate where I intend to slip into the hydro pool and not move for the weekend!

Ahhhhhhhhh! :hairpulling: Sounds like it's time to find a new GP Natalie. That's just not an acceptable approach to a patient in severe pain! Is there anyone else in the surgery you could see? Any other GP in the area? Can you call your OS and beg to get in earlier?

So sorry you are really in a bad place right now. Hang in there!

Natalie, that sort of stinks!! Try to enjoy your weekend, especially the hydro pool. I hope your friends are successful with the adoption. My younger brother and his wife adopted in 2009. They are older 1st time parents. Emma is 2 1/2. Sean is 51, as well as Michele. Take care. Hope the new meds work!!

Aw Meg that's lovely did it take a long time to go through the whole process? Its been a year for them I'm so nervous for the my stomachs in knots!

The best bit about the GP was he rushed out of here so quick he never wrote me a prescription and the patch only lasts for 3 days so has to come off Friday morning so I rang the surgery and complained asks told them I'd like to see someone else her response was make a complaint in writing and we can't fit you in till Monday now!!

So I rang my OS and she said she would see if she could get in touch with pain team and she within half hour they had rang me back with lots of questions and advice.

They want me to come off Celebrex and go onto a muscle relaxant for the twitching as they are worried that if it's unstable every time it twitches ( and it's really violent Scott said I scared the life out of him last night!)it may be Doing some damage.

They said the dosage of Fentanyl was enough for now and to combine it with Oramorph on a regular basis rather than just when the pain gets too much.

They also said to keep putting Ice and heat on it and resting it as much as possible.they were really understanding too it made a change!
