TKR Indieknee trying to recover

Surely it’s a misunderstanding? Please don’t go :/

@indieknee , I’m relieved you’re staying, when I read through the last few posts I was really concerned for your well-being.....
I had read back a few earlier pages, and saw that you had recently posted you love this forum; I am so sorry something has caused you obvious distress, to the point of leaving. What can we do to help?

Yay! I'm so glad you're staying. You've been such a help to so many people and I'm sure will continue to do so! We are all a close-knit family!

@Mom2Lucy I love you for worrying about me, but it’s nothing really. I did explain briefly in one of my posts (so briefly it seems to have disappeared!) but i’m prepared to draw a line under things.
Thank you @sistersinhim I believe in forgiving and forgetting, well, forgiving anyway.

The Knee, after being lovely, well not lovely exactly, shall we say less painful, was extremely painful today. Of course, today was a pt day. I haven’t had physio for some time. She is usually very gentle but firm, but the last time was very firm indeed and took me ages to get over.

Anyway, I explained The Knee was complaining, and I told her that the last session was too much. She was very understanding and we agreed on an acupuncture session. Trouble was that she couldn’t stick the needles in on my knee because the nerve endings were firing like mad - I nearly went through the roof!

She found other places to puncture me and in the end, it was quite a relaxing session. My knee is not relaxing tonight, it’s having one of it’s burning, prickling, aching sessions, and here’s me trying to cut down on pain meds.

C’est la vie.

:console2:Oh @indieknee

If I could hobble over with a cup of hot cocoa I would join you. My knee behaved well today so I let her out to play too long and now she’s pissy too. :nah:

At least your pt is an understanding soul! Hopefully this passes in short order and it lets you get back to life - especially with the holiday season upon us! Sending you fuzzy warm thoughts:praying:

Ps- glad ur still here!

My OS has suggested that I may have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. This is partly because I have had more pain than I should have at various stage in my recovery.
Of course I’ve had to research this myself! Here are a few websites that may be useful or of interest to others even if they don’t have this syndrome. I think it’s something that should have ‘raised awareness’ but please don’t let it worry you - it is quite rare.

Thanks @traceys I’m drinking a virtual cocoa with you right now
Time for sleep, if I can, night night.

I’m awake again - I think my knee not hurting has woken me up. It feels much more relaxed at 5.20am :)
I forgot to mention that I have made a brief list of websites that have useful information about CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) if anyone’s interested see Post #289.

@indieknee , I had acupuncture today, also. I’m going to go again on Thursday. The guy doing the treatment says he’s bringing longer needles to Thursday’s session. I think that might have been his gentle way of saying my legs are so heavy:rotfl:.
In any case, I seem to get good results from acupuncture, my bend was much better for a few hours today. I hope your knee will calm down, I have found that nerve pain is some of the worst pains, they’re so random and really are zingers.
Glad you’re still here!

I think I'll be here for a while longer, thanks @Mom2Lucy
I have been reading your thread and you mention a Tens machine, I'll be interested to hear your views on it. I have one but haven't used it yet. Actually it's the second one, the first one took one look at my knee and refused to work.:)

@indieknee - I have moved your post about CRPS from the Social Room into your own recovery thread.
It really does form part of your recovery story, so it belongs here. It's Post #292

I've also changed your thread title, so people will see you have a new topic. I don't think we currently have anyone else with CRPS, but we have had a few people in the past.

Did you see that I've posted an article about CRPS that we have in the BoneSmart library? It's Post #294.

I really hope you don't have CRPS but, even if you do, it can be managed to a certain extent. :console2:

Sure! I've changed your thread title back again. :thumb:

:blackcloud:Absolutely pouring with rain this morning so I arrived at my GP’s surgery completely soaked and looked like a drowned rat. When it was my turn to go in to her office I had barely dried out. As I walked in she said, “Goodness, you look normal!” She then explained that I looked ‘like myself’ and that other times she’s seen me, I was obviously in too much pain and was barely recognisable!:hairpulling:

Anyway I now have some new meds to replace the Gabapentin - I’ve forgotten the name of it and I can’t start taking it until tomorrow because the chemist had to order it - par for the course in our little town. Gabapentin tends to make me nauseous so we’re trying this other drug. So we shall see.

I wonder if my knee hurts more when I’m under stress - I’m sure it does.
