TKR I have a new knee!

I just ordered the:
Power Rest Executive Recliner

My office chair truly is uncomfortable and even though I try to elevate with pillows and other chairs...I just can't make it work.

I had a good day. I have my cryo cuff on and am in my recliner. I think I've learned enough of lessons that my new knee and I should have mostly good days in front of us. I feel fine, work is good, and I'm back in my comfy, happy place ....enjoying my husband, kids, grand-kids, friends, and my dog. :puppysmooze:

Life is good again.
See? That wasn't all that bad, after all!

You mean this one? My goodness! But does the leg flap come out farther than that?

[Bonesmart.org] I have a new knee!

That's the one. You know, I'm not sure. Our old chancellor has this one in his office. He recommended it. He actually was out all summer. He had a metastasis spot on his hip. They cut/rebuilt his thigh and replaced his hip. If I recall correctly, his legs don't hang over and he's a good foot taller than I. If it doesn't work for me, my husband or son may love it in their office. Fingers crossed it works. :what:

I am so fed up with the tiredness and exhaustion, I am doing really well, and I know that, and yesterday I was on top form, today, just did a few jobs in the house, and completely whacked.
The knee is fine, really fine, it's everything else that hurts, the front of my operated leg, (shin splints, slightly, I think), the hamstring in my good leg, due to years of walking so badly, and my tummy is still queasy unless I eat little and often.
So one day I am great, the next miserable and depressed.
Par for the course, I suppose.
We are taking my grandaughter, two years old, out tomorrow to feed the ducks on a village pond not far from here, and then taking her out for afternoon tea.
Should be a riot!

Hi Jess,
Yes, the tiredness is no fun. My neighbor had his hip replaced 4 months ago. We were just talking about this. He feels it still. It is a different tired than I've ever had before, too.
Have fun tomorrow!!!!
Lots of love to you!

ladyj, do remember you are only 8 weeks out. Still very, very early and actually slap bang in the middle of the worst part. I can remember at 6-8 weeks I was in tears an awful lot of the time, just really worn out with it all, the limitations and the sleepless night. In the end I talked with my GP and she said I was undermedicating the pain! ( ) and she instructed me to take 150mg of Tramadol when I needed to. It did the trick and I was a lot more comfortable and positive after that. But I can remember those times of feeling so completely drained and pleased that I lived on my own so I could just snuggle into my recliner in front of the TV and sleep - I always do my best sleeping in front of the TV! And I just read somwhere "dust bunnies aren't carnivorous so just let them be"!

You are very lucky to be able to have the pain medication. My OS said no medication at 5 weeks. i did get his NP to give me 30 more. 18 left. 18 days of some comfort when I get home from work or before we go out to do things on weekends. Just 18 left. You are so lucky!

That's awful that you can't get more pain relief after five weeks, Nyland. Surely if you are having discomfort they will prescribe some more?

Hey, Kathy, how are you feeling? How are you doing?
I agree with you that it is awful. I will certainly ask for something.

I ran out of my meds a few days ago. Doctor's office is shut down for a three-week holiday. Yikes! But then I remembered that my first TKR was a lot less painful than this one and I had left over pain pills. I'm not taking as many these days, but what a relief to know they're there if I need them! I hope you're able to get a refill, Nyland.

Why does it hurt so much at night when we are trying to get our beauty sleep?

Way to go Nyland! I am so impressed with everything I am reading! 2 inches longer? Yep, I was 1 3/4 longer before the second knee or maybe it was 1 1/4. I don't remember, but I do remember stepping on tip toes with the unoperated leg when I was barefoot!

The sleep thing gets easier with time.

Hey Sonja!
It sure seems like 2 inches with these pants. I haven't figured what to do yet. I need to find a new pair of shoes this week before I make a any decisions. I've been wearing sandals since my surgery.
I'm doing great, but lately I'm hurting more. I'm sure it is because of work.

Yep, I'm sure work has a lot to do with the pain. But you are still making great progress! :happydance:

Thanks for reminding me, Sonja. Sometimes that is all we need is a little reminder from a caring friend. :friends:

Update:
Had PT today. Chad is working on my new knee and my bad knee. He said that it will help my recovery for my next replacement. He did a deep tissue massage on my entire leg, front and back. Then we did stretching exercises. I must say, my new knee has NEVER felt this good. I am icing right now. Extension last week was 10, this week 0. Bend last week was 100, today was 119. I feel like I have turned another one of those wonderful corners! :yay:

Oh Nyland, I would love to have my therapist do that to me. I am going to ask him tomorrow why he doesn't do that. There is another therapist in town that I have been to before and like, but she didn't have the equipment that I thought I needed to do PT so I went with the hospital's PT.

Hi Debbie,
Sure, definitely ask. It was just what i needed. I was so tight, and between the massage and great stretching, I felt fantastic. :friends:

One more thing...As you all know, I have been wearing my thigh high TED (just one) everyday. I got some black lycra compression support tights a the medical supply store. So, I'm going to give them a try tomorrow. They will look so much beter than one white TED. :loll:
