Today's update is a FUNNY one! (2nd paragraph is the funny one.)
First, I'll ell you about my first outpatient PT session. It was after work, so as everyday, at the end of the day I'm stiff and swollen until I ice and elevate. He had me lay on a table and bend my leg comfortably. He measured my bend at 100 degrees. I told him that I could bend much more than that if I sat and did it like my OS showed e how to do. He laughed and said to who him. I sat on the chair, and bended, and then crossed my right ankle over my left ankle and pushed gently. Tada! 116 degrees comfortably. However, my extension was pretty awful. 10 degrees. Uh oh! He said it could be due to swelling and stiffness and gave me some exercises to work on. He also told me to use a heating pad and massage my calf, knee, and thigh before the extension exercises. I have been so focused on my bend and being able to lift my leg straight and hold it (My OS wanted me to be able to do that.) that I may have ignored my extension. It's ok, I'll get it back. I'll work on it.
My FUNNY update? My right leg with my new knee almost 2 inches LONGER than my left leg! After therapy I bought 3 pait of pants. Ann Taylor, petite SIZE 4!!!! Yup, that's right, the woman that had to lose weight for her surgery just bought size 4 pants! Ok, I admit that the surgery, the horrible UTI and everything was the reason for the weight loss. The first 3 weeks I vomited anything I ate. Then when I was treated for the UTI, that stopped. Anyway, when I went back to work, my clothes hung. Dresses were ok, but my pants from before my original weight loss fell off. I went from pants to dieting to lose the 3o plus pounds, to shorts, capris, and summer dresses. I hadn't worn pants for many months and what a surprise! So, I really was just so thrilled that I was buying a size 4. When I got home, I wanted to see if they worked with my shoes. PERFECT length for my right leg, but too long for my left. CRAZY. I know I have read that here and others have told me, but wow, I was flabbergasted! What to do? Have the tailor hem one leg?

I guess that's the only solution, but I may wait a few days so that i can show my daughter and daughter in law. I told my husband and he said that he has heard that from people who have had knees and hips replaced, but when I showed him, we had a big old belly laugh!
Oh, and one last thing to add to my update...another great day. I've had enough of good days now that I'm feeling extremely blessed and glad to have done this.
