TKR Hopefaith's Ups and Downs of Recovery

Rest is always good after TKR. When you think of what they did to your knee & your whole body you wonder if it will ever heal. I had a pretty good recovery & even when I think I can do something I still get fatigued & need rest.
I've had to rest for four days after my last adventure. The good thing is I know that & I make sure I do rest.
I would be in deep trouble if I had to go back to work. I couldn't believe it when I turned the corner. I went from
hopeless to disbelief that I was actually going to have a life again. That really kicked me into drive. It takes time.
The things that can heal will heal & the things that don't heal get better because you learn how to cope with it & realize that you are still on your path. Rest up.

@dogwheels soooo sweet. Thank you!
Yea, Vionic flip flops are not cheap, but they are soooo comfortable and my feet protest in anything less. (They are almost as big a baby as my knee). :yes: .....not quite though.

I don't want to admit tell you about a little mishap this a.m. So I will keep you all guessing.

Good Morning and Afternoon to all of you!

Happy 4th to the American folks !

May you all have a peaceful, lesspain less discomfort day.

@dogwheels
I just read your post over on Nana Moon's thread. Okay blame me. :heehee: Ebay? Now I am seriously jealous.
I always fall back on them. (not literally.....YET.) I have so many sandals that I can't wear this summer and they are becoming boring, although this summer I bought the aqua and they feel a lot less orthopeadic.
We always called them thongs growing up....and THEN that meant something else, and having two teen aged sons,
who would look at me horrified that I, their mother should use such a term, or worse KNOW such a word. :rotfl: I still have to catch myself. If I am stressed out or not thinking I call them thongs.

So, Monday I see my OS. Not looking forward to it at all. Why does it seem like we are being called to the principal's office when we have an appt.? :scratch:
I think all of this MUA talk on here gives me the heebie jeebies. But I have to remember, they can't just do one.
It is a signed med. procedure. duh. But I still feel anxiety about it. :rolleyes:

You are still early @hopefaith. I love going to see my OS. He's a sweetheart and easy on the eyes. I've been going for 7 years. I don't know what I'll do when I don't have to go every three months. Lol ;)

@msmechanic58 I love my OS. He was very kind at my 6 week. I am just afraid my bend has decreased and what he will suggest.
How are your knees? Sounds like one is doing a lot better than the other?

@hopefaith, hope the appt. went well. I am just resting it is a downpour of rain. Torrential at times. It's good for my plants and the earth, but not good for those that have arthritis and bone issues. Just makes me hurt. So I was able to be a slight soccer mom this morning, slept late and made bacon, french toast, and scrambled eggs for my mom and younger son. Mom has not been moving to well. I just put her down for a nap and relaxing now in bed to try to get rid of this horrific back pain and my op nee still hurts. I put ice/ hot on it to minimal avail. My mom also has RA but she does not verbalize hurt so I just have to surmise and put ice/ hot on her knee and elevate her legs. And I gave her one Tylenol because I see her rubbing the leg and she is not moving well today at all.

@nana moon27, I hope you feel okay and you are enjoying the caravan. Hope it is not as cool as it had been there. Everyone have a blessed day.

Hi @hopefaith - oh yes the subtle differences in what we call things ...... I am just grateful that I have lived abroad a couple of times and been friends with lots of different nationalities, so appreciate that, like the 'thongs', we often have very different names for the same thing. @71Beetle posted only the other day gently advising me that what I called a 'tramp' she calls a 'bum' and the difference is considerable. I had forgotten!

My first PT (the one I saw in the supermarket) is S African. Thankfully I have a good friend who is from SA, so at my first session when the PT told me to 'put my longs on the chair' - I quickly remembered that she meant my trousers. Over there, shorts are shorts and longs are ........ well, longs! They also call traffic lights 'robots' - which is sort of cute and you can see why.
Some US friends shrieked when I said that I was going to put coloured, scented rubbers in some children's party bags. I had to hastily change it to 'pencil erasers'.

Such is the joy of language and words!
